When trying to study, the first favor you can do for yourself is finding a productive environment. This could be a library, cafe, or even outside. It could also be in your very own room! Make sure to choose a space that is reliable and that allows you to focus.
Reliable Space
Bring healthy snacks for energy and brain power! Studying can take up a lot of your time, and it can be both mentally and physically draining. It's important to fuel your body and to stay hydrated as well. Food can help you to better focus and concentrate!
Eat and Drink!
Try to remove any potential distractions. Silence your cell phone and put it in a place where you won't check it! If you work better alone, don't let your friend tempt you into studying with them!
Eliminate Distractions
Music
Calming and soothing music can actually help in terms of productivity, as long as it's not too distracting! Musics' effects can help to eliminate the stress and anxiety that comes with studying. It can help to improve your mood as well!
Sleep!
Whatever you do, don't cram! Practice time management by spacing out studying sessions. Do not wait until the night before, because your brain will not absorb all of the information at large. Allow yourself to take a few days or even a few weeks to effectively study any material
Make sure to get good nights of sleep before planning to study. Sleep is so important for one's health; moreover, it is crucial for one's ability to concentrate and to focus. Students who are sleep deprived are less likely to retain information than those who do get enough sleep.
Don't cram!
Form Study Groups
Sometimes, studying in groups can be highly effective. You can bounce ideas off of one another and quiz each other on content depending on the subject. It can also make studying more fun, which in turn elevates your mood and motivates you!
Take Breaks
It's important to take intentional breaks every once in a while in order to allow your mind to rest. You will be more productive in the long run by doing so. If you've been a hermit in a library for 4 hours, go on a nice walk or run! Your brain will thank you.
