Dearest Mama,
I have written this to you to inform you that my child was born last night, during a Blood Moon. Raina Sun is a strong baby girl and I believe that the power you passed down to me belongs to her now. Once she is old enough I shall start teaching her.
With love and respect,
-Your dearest Lea-

Raina Sun was an odd person. She was beautiful and smart. But had a nasty temper and often destroyed things when she was angry. So everyone left her alone.
Raina had long blonde hair and blue eyes. She lived by herself in a small cave in the Sky Mountain. There was a large lake in the middle of the cave with a small island in the middle holding a cherry blossom tree. And every day she would bathe it it because it helped her relax.
One morning, on a very rainy day, Raina was playing with her pet. It was a small cave bat that she had named Shadow. Shadow was her only companion and she told
him everything. Raina always visited the village at the foot of the mountain to buy food and resources for herself. And, even thought the people there didn't like her, she still secretly loved the village, because it was her birthplace. In fact, her parents had founded it, and it had been called the Village of Sun, after them.
Shadow flipped through the air, letting out loud screeches as Raina tried to calm him down. "Shadow!" she yelled, her temper rising. "Stop right now!"
The bat, hearing her anger, slowed to a stop and landed on her shoulder. "Now I am going to the village and you are coming with," Raina ordered.
It was still early morning once Raina got to the Village of Sun, so, lucky for her, no one was on the streets yet. Not many stores had opened yet, except a small store that Raina entered quickly.
The keeper of the store, Evangeline Kail (Evie), a girl her age with orange-red hair smiled as she entered. "Ah, hello Ray. And hello to you as well Shadow."
Raina smiled. Evie was her only friend in the village. They had both lost their parents who had died from plague years ago. "Hello Evie," Raina said, smiling.
"And what are you here for today?"
"Oh, just the usual, thanks."
"Honestly, you are so kind to me," Evie stated. "I wonder why nobody likes you."
With those words, Evie stared out the shop window nervously. Her eyes roamed across the cobble street, then she turned away and went to fetch Raina's food.
Raina looked out the window as well, to try and see what Evie had been looking for. Seeing nothing, Raina decided to ask the shop-keeper once she returned.
Evie soon came back with a basket of food that Raina paid for.
"Oh," Evie said. "Ray, are you almost finished with the
quilt? I notice that you are running low on gold."
"Yes, Evie, I will bring it to you next week to sell. Umm, and why did you look out the window?"
Evie shifted, as if she wanted to keep the truth from Raina. Then she sighed and replied in a whisper, "There is someone new in town. His name is Komani Koi, and he is very dangerous."
"What do you mean, Evie?"
"I mean that he wants to kill you!" Raina's friend almost shouted as tears sprang into her eyes. "When he arrived he only stated his name and started to ask if there were any descendants of Kiju and Lea Sun. Almost every
person in this village told him about you. He has sent his men to guard the village. I don't know if it would be wise for you to return home."
Raina protested, "Where else do I go?"
"You can stay with me. And I can protect you."
"But what does he want with the Sun family?"
Evie was silent, then she spoke, "He believes that your mother, Lea, was a witch. He said that she seduced your father with her powers so that she could have an heir to her powers."
"Wait, does he think it's me?"
Evangeline nodded and Raina fell back. Evie left her
counter to steady the girl, saying, "Ray, you only make yourself more suspicious by living alone up in that mountain."
"No one wants me down here. And I definitely cannot stay here if they all think I'm a witch!"
Evie suddenly tensed and whispered, "Shh! Someone is coming. Quick, hide behind the counter."
Raina slid behind the counter, next to large bags of flour, as Shadow flapped up to a shelf. Evie resumed her place behind the counter and smiled as the door opened softly. "Ah, Captain Komani Koi, what a pleasant, and early, surprise."
