The One and Only Harlow

In a small, local animal shelter with lots of animals lived Harlow. He is a fluffy, small, and beige puppy.

Harlow has lived in the shelter for as long as he can remember, although, nobody has ever noticed him. The poor puppy never understood why he was never chosen. 

One day, on the busiest day of the year, he realized that all the other pets were chosen because they had a different personality than him. Harlow decided to change that.

He sat up as tall as he could and tried not to be as playful as he usually was. Harlow waited... and waited... and waited. Just as the last family started to leave, they stopped right in front of Harlow.

"Finally!", he thought. Harlow was so excited, but the family left without giving him a chance. The poor puppy plopped down, and noticed a cat on the other side of the wall.

"Why don't I ever get picked?", whined Harlow. After a second of silence, he heard a voice say, "Maybe it's because you weren't yourself today." Harlow was startled by the voice.
