The tribe lived in peace until war broke out between the British and them due to they had people who broke out of slavery and the British came after them.

U.S. plantation owners wanted to recapture runaway African American slaves living with the Seminole tribe. Settlers wanted more land. General Andrew Jackson and his troops invaded Spanish Florida and engaged in battles with Seminole villages. This series of battles became known as the First Seminole War. Spain recognized they were losing control of Florida. The U.S. and Spain signed the Adams-Onis Treaty in 1819. Spain sold Florida to the United States. In 1823, the Seminole people were forced to move to a reservation in central Florida. A reservation is an area of land kept separate for Native Americans to live.

The 2 war broke out because the United States wanted to move them to Oklahoma and they refused. That is how the second war happened.
