Can plants be helpful?

Many plants can be helpful, in fact, most modern medicines and treatments include plants as ingredients. 

However, it is important to know that some plants can be very dangerous and poisonous for people.

Lavender

Lavender is a purple flower with a very distinctive (special) scent.

It is known to have antibacterial (fights infection) properties.

Yarrow

Yarrow is a plant with white, pink or yellow flowers that grows wild in fields and has healing properties. 

In ancient Greek mythology, soldiers used yarrow to heal wounds.

Vegetables are very important for people as they keep us healthy.

Root vegetables, like potatoes and carrots, grow under the ground and leafy vegetables like spinach and lettuce, grow above the ground.

If you have ever burned yourself, you might have used aloe vera to cool your skin.

It has waxy skin and has been used as medicine since ancient times.

Aloe is a succulent plant.

Bamboo is considered to be the one of the most useful plants in the world.
