The young and interested minds of the word

Film is all around us, and has been for many years. Though, you may not realize it, film has changed and influenced our world greatly.

Film can be used as a way for people to express themselves and create new stories.

Not one singular person invented cinema and film. Instead, it as the Edison Company as a whole. They successfully created the "Kinetoscope", which was a device where one person could view moving pictures. Similar to watching a movie, but only one person could watch at a time.

In 1895, the first movie theater was invented. The Lumiere Brothers presented moving pictures to an audience, who had payed. They used a device they had created. It was called "The Cinematographe". It was a camera, a projector, and a film printer all in one.

Films, or movies as we know them now, used to be a lot shorter. Oftentimes, they were only a few minutes or less. They were shown at fairgrounds, or anywhere a screen could be set up and anywhere a room could be darkened.

Early films were oftentimes short comedies and included music and a lot of participation from the audience. They did not contain much talking, but they were not normally silent.

By 1914, many famous film industries were established. Europe, Russia and Scandinavia were the biggest. America's film industry was not very important, no until later years.

Films became longer and began telling stories. More people paid to see movies. The industry began to grow and more money was invested.

Large studios were dedicated to creating film and many cinemas were built to show the films that were created.

The first World War greatly affected the film industry of Europe. This caused the American film industry to grow in importance.

Color was first added to black and white movies through hand-coloring, tinting, toning and stenciling.

By the 1930s, most of the movies had synchronized sound. Some of the movies were in full color. This had made the American film industry a hit. It was nicknamed "The Golden Age of Hollywood".

During the 1930s and 1940s, cinema was the most popular form of entertainment. Sometimes, people attended the theater two times a week.

Sometimes, extra facilities were offered at the theaters. Some of these facilities included cafes and ballrooms.

Thomas Edison had used 35 mm film in the Kinetoscope. by 1909, this was known as the world-wide standard, meaning jut abut everyone was using this film.

Later on, cinemas and their audiences dwindled, due to the invention of television.

In the past 20 years, the production of film has been changed because of the improvement of other technology.

Though the art of creating movies is complex, it conveys many emotions.
