Menteş is a camp area located in Urla, Izmir, where the Military Academy carries out its military activities. Menteş increases the physical endurance and psychological competence of military students, and when we graduate, it allows us to be more ready for the profession. There are no buildings and facilities in Menteş, students stay in tents. There were 2 people in the tents. The tents would be hot during the day and cold in the evenings.

Menteş also starts early in the day. We get up at 5:30 in the morning. we do morning sports at 6. After the run, we would go into the sea to cool off. We used to call it "Cos". I sometimes didn't  want to go to sea, so I tried to escape. We used to go for breakfast at 7.30 after sports. Their breakfast was always bad in the morning and they gave little food.

After breakfast, we have gone military training at 8. The weather is very hot in Menteş, so the trainings were difficult. At 12 o'clock, the military training would end and we go to the dining hall for lunch. After lunch, we go back to military training. The military training ends at 5 o'clock and we return to our tents. 

After 5 o'clock, we rest and prepare for the next military trainings. At the end of the day, we would go to the cafe located by the beach drink tea or coffee. For me best of all, was eating ice cream.

The open-air cinema we go to in the evenings is one of the most beautiful activities in Menteş. My friends and I used to buy hot popcorn. We used to go to the best movie once a week. And sometimes we'd get corn and come back from watching the movie. Popcorn was a reward for us.
