-Writing- W.K.2 Use a combination of drawing, dictating, and writing to compose informative/explanatory texts that name what is being written about and supply some information about the topic.

-Science- K.LS.2: Living things have physical traits and behaviors, which influence their survival.

-Technology- K-2.ICT.3.d. With guidance, create artifacts using digital learning tools and resources to demonstrate knowledge.

We got a Grow Your Own Butterfly Kit two weeks ago!

Inside the kit there were small caterpillars in a cup. We watched them grow!

The caterpillars got bigger every day! We watched them eat and crawl, but we had to be careful not to shake the cup and hurt the caterpillars.

We left the caterpillars in the school for the weekend, and when we came back on Monday, one caterpillar had formed a chrysalis on the lid of the cup!

We watched another caterpillar climb to the top of the cup and hang upside down from silk strands. It made a chrysalis around it's whole body!

By Thursday, all five of the caterpillars were hanging inside a chrysalis on the lid of their cup.
