The moment Azalea Sun gave birth to her daughter, whom she named Jai-Kun, she knew that she was a sorceress just like her and her father.
Mother Sun, then known as the little baby girl Jai-Kun wasn't born with powers, but her parents knew that she had their potential. So, once she was four, they brought her to the sacred ritual that happened twice a year, at every Blood Moon.
They took Jai-Kun and placed her on the altar where the Great Sorcerer stood. He placed his hands on Jai-Kun's head and then said, "This young one has been
blessed with the powers of eternal life. Meaning she can control her age and the ages of others, if she chooses to. It is rare and can be a very powerful gift."
That night, four-year-old, Jai-Kun was excited by her new powers and stayed up all night trying to figure out how they worked.
In the morning, her parents were greeted by a teenager. Her mother was shocked and it took her father a hour before he finally accepted that she was his four-year-old daughter.
"I'm so sorry," Jai-Kun said, wringing her hands.
"Well I guess this means that you do have the powers of
the gods. Immortality, dear, it's a powerful thing."
But there was one small problem in Jai-Kun's powers. Whatever age she turned, she would only contain the knowledge of whatever age she actually was. So teenager Jai-Kun still had the mind of the four-year-old.
This is why Jai-Kun turned back to her actual age and decided to grow up like a regular girl and go to school. But school wasn't always the best atmosphere for a girl who liked funny mischief.
One day, Jai-Kun, now nine, sat listening to her teacher and a girl kept making rude faces at her. Jai-Kun tried to ignore her, but sadly, she couldn't help but use her powers
and cause the girl's hair to turn gray. Because Jai-Kun could decided which part of the body she wanted to turn old. The girl screamed and interrupted the whole lesson. But, Jai-Kun was never caught and the girl was sent to the magicians of her village to be cured.
. . . . .
It was a rainy day and Jai-Kun was walking home from school on a muddy dirt road. A group of boys passed her. The leader was one she knew quite well, Tetro Pilkar. He was the biggest bully in the school and she really hated him. He walked around the school claiming that he was going to be a witch killer once he was older. It drove her
mad and the more she saw him the madder she got. As she passed them by, Tetro stuck out his foot and tripped her. Jai-Kun landed face-first in the mud and the boys all started to laugh.
Her face turned red as she got back up and collected her soaked books. "Haha!" Tetro was yelling. "That's what you get for dressing like a witch!"
That was it. Jai-Kun snapped her finger and the boy behind Tetro transformed into a baby. Tetro stared in amazement and turned back to her. "You are witch! Teacher!!!"
Jai-Kun, now scared, ran all the way home and locked
herself in her room. It wasn't until her parents got home that she was able to get out. She told them what happened and they reprimanded her. "Jai, you shouldn't have done that to the boy. And now you have put all the sorcerers in danger."
"I'm so sorry," she said as tears came to her eyes. "I was angry. And Tetro Pilkar is a jerk."
And that was why Mother Sun hated Pilkar's so much, because they were insensitive and rude all the time. But that night Jai-Kun promised that she would never use her powers again.
The next morning her father announced that they were
moving to a different village because Jai-Kun had been revealed to be a witch.
"I'm glad we're moving," Jai-Kun said as they were packing all their belongings. "I had no friends here so I will not miss anyone and maybe I can start over in The Village of Swahn!"
. . . . .
Twelve years passed and Jai-Kun was mourning the death of her parents. But she didn't have much time to mourn because her child was coming soon. Her husband, Elliot, had recently died as well from a heart attack. They had barely been married for a year and Jai-Kun had lost
everyone she loved. But she was about to give birth to the girl who would be her closest companion.
Lea Sun was born on a cold winter day and seeing her round little face brought warmth to Jai-Kun. Her baby girl grew quickly and she was so proud as she started to walk. But then it happened.
Jai-Kun was putting little Lea in her crib for bed and the child climbed right out as soundlessly as a mouse. Jai-Kun realized that she must have inherited her sorceress power.
As Lea grew it came more apparent that she was skilled in acrobatics and could be as silent as a statue, even while
