Splitting the Apples
As you head back home you and your friend see a pile of apples in the grass.

You count 6 apples! But you ask yourself how do my friend and I split them evenly?

Lucky for you, you have two baskets to bring the apples back home.

One by one you put the apples into each basket. One in yours, then your friends, then back to yours again

By the end you both have three apples!

Congratulations both you and your friend were able to divide the 6 apples evenly between both of you.

This same problem can be seen as 6 ÷ 2. Here, you take 6 things and divide them into 2 equal parts.

If you had two friends with you. This changes to 6 ÷ 3. Here you and your two friends have two apples each.
