Chapter One: Rapunzel is Born
It was a dark and stormy day when Rapunzel was born. She lived in a small brick house way out in the country with her mom and dad (in their house they had some valuable ancient pottery). They were listening to the pitter-patter of the big fat raindrops on the roof and then… a knock on the door. They said “come in.” It was their neighbor Nayelli. Her dress was dripping wet from the rain. Despite being wet she still had a big smile on her face, but then it turned into an alarmed face. Her big eyes seemed to grow larger because she saw the baby. “Oh my gosh I got to tell you guys something! Your baby is naughty!” she told them. Earlier that day in her small cottage up the road she was with her cat Blackie gazing in her crystal ball. And that's when they saw Rapunzel's future (by the way, the crystal ball was red when that happened.) The red signaled something evil was going to happen. “There is only one thing you can do. Give the baby to me” said Nayelli the witch. “Oh well. I guess we will” said the Mom. And with that Nayeli whisked Rapunzel away.
Chapter Two: The Mischievous Case
After five locked up years Rapunzel learned how to climb up a ladder to get to the very top of the rook. At the top of the ladder was a trapdoor with a latch that she used to get fresh air. She could not climb down the outside of the rook because it was so smooth she would fall to her death. In all that time the Nayelli the witch had not taught Rapunzel anything about escaping the rook because it could give Rapunzel an idea. The witch even bought hoverboards to go through the windows so that Rapunzel would not learn how to open the door! There were curtains in the place of the doors inside so Rapunzel didn't know how to open any doors.
Two years later her mom was visiting and accidentally opened up the door. Rapunzel was watching her and she thought to herself Ooh… so that's how you do it. She wanted to be naughty and she wanted to sneak out at night. She wanted to make Nayelli the witch think that the cow was being attacked by a wolf. So she stuck sticks in her mouth and started gnawing on the cow in their pasture. The cow squealed with fright and the witch leaped out the window of her cottage. Then she realized Rapunzel was making the cow squeal. “Come on Rapunzel,“ said Nayelli. And Rapunzel followed the witch because she knew the consequences if she didn’t listen to Nayelli’s orders (and she had no grace for the rook!). And Nayelli locked the door behind her with her amazing magic. SLAM!
Chapter Three: The Horrid Veggies
After that Rapunzel was forced to stay in the rook at all times (except at the top of the rook where there was fresh air). Her consequence was being fed only veggies. And she hated veggies. Veggies were like eating something you know you don't want to eat. IT WAS AWFUL!
One week later, she saw pizza on the witch's hoverboard instead of veggies! And she said out loud “why thank you!” The witch explained since she didn't complain about the veggies she wanted to give Rapunzel a treat. The next day the witch brought pastries! Rapunzel ate all but one to save for the next day. Once again she brought veggies. And Rapunzel was glad she had saved her pastry. The next day Nayelli the witch brought veggies again and Rapunzel knocked the veggies down the rook. Week after week it kept happening. Rapunzel became more and more naughty and the witch became more and more cross.
