The old dinosaur eventually died. It was very sad.

Hello, I'm a paleontologist and dig up things called fossils.

What even is a fossil? A fossil is what's left after an animal dies and is buried.
How is a fossil made? Sedimentary rock covers the fossil. Then the animal is buried. The compaction forms the fossil.

What are the best conditions for a fossil to form? The best conditions are a cool dry area. The animal should be buried quickly so no predators get to it.

One type of fossil is trace fossils. A trace fossil is a preserved path that an animal left.
Next is cast fossils. Cast Fossils are formed by Sediment molding around the dead animal
