During the past 62 years, thousands of children have been educated within the walls and grounds of a school . Many teachers and staff have committed their time, expertise and knowledge to educate the future generations of our republic. Many of the students have contributed to the development of Ulan-Ude, Buryatia, Russia in a multitude of ways. We are proud of School No.40, its history, educational legacy, and all the teachers who devoted their lives to the children in their classrooms.
One of the hundreds of teachers that have been at our school is Tamara Ivanovna Sitnikova - a living legend. After graduating from Staritskii Teachers Training College Tamara Ivanovna Vinogradova was sent to Buryat Republic to work as a primary school teacher. While teaching, Tamara Ivanovna received her degree in History and Social Studies at Buryat State Pedagogical Institute. On December 12, 1960 she was one of the first teachers who opened a new school in Zheleznodorozhnii district of Ulan-Ude. Three years later, Tamara Ivanovna became an Assistant Headteacher. She devoted about 50 years of her life to our school.
Here is the history of school No.40 from a living legend.

A Living
Legend
In every Soviet school,
there was a system that
organised students for
educational activities. Every
level - Oktyabryata (7-9-year old students),Pioneers (10-14 - year old students),Comsomol (15-17-year old students) has a senior leader - vozhatii.
Tamara Ivanovna was the best Pioneer and Comsomol leader.
In 1963 Tamara Ivanovna became the first Assistant Headteacher for Educational activities in Buryatia. This kind of work was new to the Soviet school. It was an experiment in Buryat Republic. The 28-year old teacher faced a great challenge to take the first creative steps in this field. She was sent to many courses in different parts of our big country - Moscow, Krasnodar, Irkutsk, Chita. After studying theory and amassing in-depth knowledge, Tamara Ivanovna happily shared it with teachers from the whole Republic during her lectures. But theory was nothing without experience. That is why our school became a model school in piloting and replicating advanced educational practices.

The all-Union Young Pioneer military-patriotic game "Zarnitsa" was a massive sports competition for children organized within the Young Pioneers organization. The word zarnitsa literally means "heat lightning". In 1967, it gained official status and was held across the whole country on a regular basis under the personal control of Marshal Ivan Bagramyan.
In 1970, Tamara Ivanovna Sitnikova initiated and carried out many games in our republic. She was the heart and soul of the game 'Zarnitsa" in Buryatia. Our school team was well-known in the Soviet Union as one of the best teams of Zarnitsa. In 1971, Marshal Ivan Khristoforovich Bagramyan greeted our school team, led by Tamara Ivanovna, in the heroic City of Brest, Belarus.
