"Have a great day back at work honey!"

Thanks Dad!

Once upon a time, there was a young girl named Emily. When she was born, her mom was the only parent around because her dad lived in another country for work. When Emily's mother returned to work after having a baby, she would bring Emily to stay with her parents for the day. Emily spent five days a week with her grandparents, and she would become very close with them in the first few years of her life. They were the best babysitters ever!

See you next Sunday! Love you guys!

Emily's grandma and grandpa always took great care of her, and she loved her grandparents very much. Emily's father started working from home, so he could spend more time with his daughter. Once Emily started staying home with her dad, she saw her grandparents less than she used to. But, every Sunday afternoon, Emily would visit her grandparents for dinner. Emily looked forward to Sunday evenings at her grandparents' house every week. Her grandma always made such delicious food!

I will teach you how to sew with my machine when you are older, Emily.
Emily's grandma taught her how to do many things. Her grandma was a very talented sewer, so Emily learned how to sew and knit. She enjoyed spending quality time with and learning from her grandma. One day, Emily's grandma said, "I will teach you how to sew with my machine when you are older, Emily." From then on, Emily looked forward to learning how to use the sewing machine. She hoped to become a magnificent sewer like her grandma was.

Grandma
Emily
Out of all their activities, Emily loved baking and cooking with her grandma the most. Their favorite recipe to make was homemade chocolate chip cookies. Each month, Emily and her grandma would have a cookie-baking date. In fact, they made the recipe so often that Emily had it memorized by the time she reached seventh grade. The chocolate chip cookies were so delicious, and everyone thought they were the best cookies they had ever eaten. Both Emily and her grandma looked forward to their baking date every month.

Can we make cookies tonight?
Not today. I am too tired.
To-Do List:

Once Emily got into middle school, her grandma became more tired and rarely got out of her bed. Emily wasn't sure why her grandma couldn't do all the things she used to do. One evening, Emily was hoping to bake cookies with her grandma. Her grandma told her, "Not today. I am too tired." Her grandma had never turned down a cookie-baking date before. It was very out of character for her. Emily did not understand why her grandma was acting so strange.

I thought this day would never come.

One day, Emily's mother told her that her grandma was very sick and was going to die soon. Emily was so shocked because she didn't even realize that her grandma was sick. She said, "I thought this day would never come." Emily couldn't imagine a world without her grandma in it. What would she do on Sunday afternoons when she would go to her grandma's house for dinner? Who would bake chocolate chip cookies with her? Who would teach her how to sew and knit again?
