This story was inspired by true events. I live with my brother who has autism. Throughout my life, he is someone who makes me laugh, smile, and at times, makes me cry. I love him with all my heart and he makes me see the world differently. 

This story is for people with a family member who have autism.

Once upon a time, in the town of  Crafted Island, lived a red pom pom spider named Joshua.

Joshua had many talents. He could draw. He could  sing. He could also dance. 

However, Joshua has something that made him different from most kids on the island, he has autism. 

Because he has autism, Joshua has a hard time talking and he usually wants to play by himself.

Joshua does not like to touch certain textures, such as ones that are hard, bumpy, and squishy.

He has a hard time with changes, even small ones. One day, instead of a plain orange, his mom bought him a red orange. Joshua did not want to eat it because of the way it looked.

Also, Joshua dislikes very loud noises.

Joshua likes to collect DVDs, but he doesn’t watch the entire disc. Instead, he would play the same scenes over and over.

Joshua is just like a normal kid on Crafted Island. He  has some challenges that make everyday things difficult. However, Joshua has some special tools that help him fit in.

Joshua goes to a special school where there are other children like him. There, he can learn at his own pace.
