There are many different sports in the world that you can
do. There is basketball, track and field, volleyball, baseball,
softball, hockey, cheer-leading, tennis, football, swimming,
golf, soccer, and dance. There are also many more, but
they probably go in the same category as the ones that I
have already named.

If you are someone who is reading this book and never heard of any of
these sports before, I am going to define them for you. First I am going to
start off by defining basketball for you, basketball is a game played by two
teams, usually five players on each on a rectangular court having a raised
basket or goal at each end, points being scored by tossing the ball through
the opponents basket. Track and field is of, pertaining to, or participating in
the sports of running, pole-vaulting, broad-jumping. Football is a a game in
which two opposing teams of 11 players each defend goals at opposite
ends of a field having goal posts at each end, with points being scored
chiefly by carrying the ball across the opponent's goal line and by place-
kicking or drop-kicking the ball over the crossbar between the opponent's
goal posts. Compare conversion ( def 13 ) , field goal ( def 1 ) , safety (
def 6 ) , touchdown.

VolleyBall is a game for two teams in which the object is to keep a large
ball in motion, from side to side over a high net, by striking it with the hands
before it touches the ground. Baseball is a game of ball between two nine-
player teams played usually for nine innings on a field that has as a focal
point a diamond-shaped infield with a home plate and three other bases,
90 feet (27 meters) apart, forming a circuit that must be completed by a
base runner in order to score, the central offensive action entailing hitting of
a pitched ball with a wooden or metal bat and running of the bases, the
winner being the team scoring the most runs. Softball is a form of baseball
played on a smaller diamond with a larger and softer, ball. Golf is a game
in which clubs with wooden or metal heads are used to hit a small, white
ball into a number of holes, usually 9 or 18, in succession, situated at
various distances over a course having natural or artificial obstacles, the
object being to get the ball into each hole in as few strokes as possible.

Soccer is a form of football played between two teams of 11 players, in which
the ball may be advanced by kicking or by bouncing it off any part of the body
but the arms and hands, except in the case of the goalkeepers, who may use
their hands to catch, carry, throw, or stop the ball. Tennis is a game played
on a rectangular court by two players or two pairs of players equipped with
rackets, in which a ball is driven back and forth over a low net that divides the
court in half. Hockey is played in ice or just a regular field, but I am going to
define them both for you, Ice Hockey is a game played on ice between two
teams of six skaters each, the object being to score goals by shooting a puck
into the opponents cage using a stick with a wooden blade set at an obtuse
angle to the shaft. Field Hockey is a game played on a rectangular field
having a netted goal at each end, in which two teams of 11 players each
compete in driving a small leather-covered ball into the others goal, each
player being equipped with a stick having a curved end or blade that is flat on
one side and rounded on the other.

Cheer-leading, dance, and swimming are just hobbies, so there is not
really a way I can define them. They are great hobbies, but the
definition is self explanatory, just look at the word and I am sure of you
that you will find out what it means just that fast, all you have to do is
look.

Basketball, track and field, and football are some really common sports in
the U.S. Basketball and football are the most common and really known
sports in the world. There is so many different football and basketball teams
in the world. For an example, I am going to name some for you, first I am
going to start off with the basketball teams, I am talking about NBA, not
college football, but we have the Miami Heats, OKC thunder, Lakers,
Clippers, Bulls, Mavericks, Celtics, and there are many more. But, football
for the NFL, we have Dallas Cowboys, Colts, Steelers, Giants, Patriots,
49ers, Saints, and many more. You can do all of these sports in high school
or college, but I just wanted you to know the NFL teams and the NBA teams.
If you do good with any of these sports through high school and/or college,
it's a possibility that you can go pro and go to the NFL or NBA, you just have
to work hard and do good in school. I promise you anything is possible,
never let anyone tell you that you cannot do something because they are so
wrong, anything can happen. So if you are doing a sport now just keep on
doing it because you never know what could happen and how far in life you
can go with just doing that particular sport, or you can do other sports too. It
doesn't have to be basketball, or football. Those are just some common
sports.

Baseball, softball, and soccer are also great sports too. Baseball and
softball are basically the same thing, it's just that baseball is played with
boys only and softball is just girls. A softball is actually softer than a
baseball, and the bats that they play with are different. But, they are
really both good sports. Soccer, is just you kicking a ball around into
each other goals and see who gets the most points. Soccer is a common
sport also. It is played all around the world. But, they probably call it
something different, but it's still soccer either way it goes.

I really encourage whoever reads this book to try any of these sports. They
are really cool sports and it will keep you busy. You can learn many new
things from playing a sport or anything. It doesn't have to be any of the
sports I named, it can be a different one. Just try it out, and see how you
do. You may do good, and be able to go pro or anything. You can even get
a scholarship if you do any of these sports in high school. So my word to
you is to never give up, just keep on trying. If you mess up, get up and try it
again. Don't ever stop believing in yourself.

Lets say if you dropped out of school or you didn't go to college. There is
still a way that you can pursue your dream in playing a sport. You can go
back to school and get your GED which means ( General Education
Development ). There is always a way to get a degree, like if you are in
need of a job and the job you want you have to have a degree so you take
classes then you go get your GED.

Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, and Kevin Durant all of them played or
still play in the NBA. All of the also have there own shoe brand now. But, Michael
Jordan started that trend when he begun to make Jordan's. He was very successful
with it also. Now the trend is mainly kevin durant shoes which the name of his shoes
are KD's, Kevin Durant plays for Oklahoma City Thunder. Kevin Durant was born
September 29th 1988 in Suitland, Maryland. As one of four children of Wanda and
Wayne Pratt, Durant grew up loving sports with his sister, Brianna, and two brothers,
Anthony (also a basketball player) and Rayvonne. His grandmother, Barbara, was a
strong influence, telling him that his height was a blessing, even though schoolmates
teased him for always being the tallest in class. Durant's success started with the PG
Jaguars, an Amateur Athletic Union youth basketball team in Prince George's
County, Maryland. The team won two national championships during Durant's
tenure. To this day, Durant wears a No. 35 jersey in honor of Charles Craig, his AAU
coach and childhood mentor, who died at the age of 35. During high school, Durant
grew seven inches, to his current height of 6'9". During that time, he played for the
National Christian Academy and Montrose Christian School, both in Maryland, and
for basketball powerhouse Oak Hill Academy, located in Virginia. After his senior
year, he was named to Parade magazine's "First Team" list, and to USA Today's
"First Team All-American" list, capturing attention from major college basketball
recruiters nationwide.

Durant received offers from top Division I colleges, and although
prompted by his friend, point guard Tywon Lawson, to join him and play
with the University of North Carolina Tar Heels, Durant signed with the
University of Texas Longhorns in Austin. Russell Springman, a
Longhorn assistant and Maryland native, had been in touch with Durant
since his freshman year of high school.
As a Longhorn, Durant started in every game during his freshman year
of college, averaging 25.8 points per game (first in the Big 12, fourth in
the nation) and 11 rebounds per game in 35 games. He scored 20-plus
points 30 times, and put up 30-plus points 11 times. He was named the
Big 12 Tournament's Most Valuable Player after hitting a tournament
record of 92 points and leading the Longhorns to the second round of
the National Collegiate Athletic Association Men's Basketball
Championship, where they lost to the University of Southern California.
As a freshman, Durant received the Oscar Robertson and the Adolph F.
Rupp awards, and was the first freshman to win both honors.

After just one year of college basketball, Durant declared himself eligible for the 2007 NBA
Draft. In June of that year, he was chosen second overall in the first round by the Seattle
SuperSonics. Around that same time, Durant signed a $60 million, seven-year endorsement
deal with Nike, a major deal at the time, exceeded only by LeBron James's Nike contract. In his
rookie season, Durant was selected as a member of the NBA's All-Rookie First Team and was
named the NBA's "Rookie of the Year." After the 2007-08 season, the Seattle SuperSonics
relocated the organization from Seattle, Washington to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, becoming
the Oklahoma City Thunder. Durant continues to thrive with the franchise, having been named
an NBA All-Star three times (2010-12) and to the All-NBA First Team three times (2010-12).
He also led the league three times as NBA scoring champion (2010-12), becoming only the
eighth player in NBA history to do so. Durant has also played internationally, and was named
2010 FIBA World Championship MVP by the International Basketball Federation. Additionally,
he was chosen to play with the 2012 U.S. Olympic basketball team. At the 2012 Olympic
Games in London, the U.S. basketball team took home the gold medal. Kevin Durant is a top-
scoring American professional basketball player, who plays for the National Basketball
Association's Oklahoma City Thunder franchise.
