Once there was a mama duck waiting for her six eggs to
hatch.

When it came time for the eggs to hatch, each of them
cracked open one by one until there was only one egg left.
But this egg was different than all of the rest. It was
ginormous compared to the other eggs. This egg was also
special because it did not have a yellow shell, but a white
shell. At last, the final duckling hatched; however, like
the egg, this duckling was different.

Unlike the other yellow ducklings, this duckling had
a smooth gray fur with the shiniest gray, webbed feet
that his sister had ever seen.
“Why is he so ugly?” one duckling asked.
“I think he’s beautiful,” his sister defended.
All of the ducklings poked fun of the “ugly duckling”,
except his sister. She saw the duckling as a beauty; in
fact she had magical powers so that she sees the
beauty in everything.

Everyday his sister would take a walk to a magical pond,
where the reflection showed the beauty inside all of
the animals. However, only animals with magical powers
knew about this pond and visited it. One day, his sister
took the “ugly duckling” with her to the magical pond.
There she would show him his true beauty, so he would
realize that he is not the “ugly duckling”.

When she took her brother to the pond, he was
amazed of his beauty, but other siblings made fun
of him.

“We can’t play with ducks that are ugly,”
another duckling said. The duckling
began to cry and he felt so bad about
himself that he decided to run away.

When the duckling left, his sister was
heartbroken. However, all of his other siblings
laughed and played without him. Her days were
filled with sadness and sorrow, and every day she
would go visit the pond, hoping that he would
return. His sister missed playing with the duckling
and wondered if he would come home again.

One day, his sister went to the magical pond like
normal, but she saw a figure in the distance. The
figure looked like a graceful white swan; first she
had thought that maybe it was her “ugly duckling”,
but she knew that he would never look that
graceful. As the figure became more apparent as it
grew near and the figure finally approached her,
she realized the graceful figure was her “ugly
duckling”.
