A Ghost In Hiding
Prologue
“You say there’s a ghost?” “Yes there has to be I saw it and heard it!” “Ha you’re hallucinating!” “Why don’t you trust me I know I saw it!” “I think you saw something I just don’t think it’s a ghost!” “What else could it be?” “That’s a mystery for another time but for now let’s go to bed, ok?” “Ok…” “Good night.” “Good night, Rachel.”
Emily Sean was getting dressed for her moving day, probably the worst day in her life! Emily finished putting on her clothes, and put her favorite necklace on, the one her father gave her. You’re probably wondering why this is her favorite necklace, and it’s because sadly her father died a long time ago. Ok let’s get to the real story, aha! Let’s start from the worst day in little Emily’s life, well I guess she’s big now. She is twelve…ugh I’m getting sidetracked, let’s get to the
Chapter One
Meeting Emily
point. Now this is the worst day in big Emily’s life because there’s a rumor, a very scary rumor. And that rumor is there is a ghost in Emily’s future home, don don don….Oh I love a good don don don! Ok I think that’s all I need to say for now. I’m going to go now. Hope you like the book! “It’s time Emily we’re gonna be late!” Wait, Emily thought, late? How can you be late to move?? But Emily didn’t think about it too much, she had to finish packing, fast!
Emily walked downstairs with all her things. ”There you are, let's go!” said Mrs. Sean. With that, Emily got in

the car and drove away never to come back, wishing they could stay. It had so many things that reminded her about her father. It was nice looking at his pictures with his loving smile.
Chapter Two
Is She There?
They got to the new house, and it did not look like a ghost was living there. Mrs. Sean got out of the car and looked at the house. “Wow this house is a big house and it’s very dirty! Don’t you think Emily?” No answer. “Emily?” Again no answer. Mrs. Sean walked over to the back seat, she was missing! Just kidding, she’s there. I hope I didn’t scare you too much! Ok enough jokes, let’s get back to the story. Mrs. Sean shook Emily. She didn’t wake up. She shook her again, “Save the pigeons!” Emily sat up looking around, noticing it
was a dream. “Ummm,” Mrs. Sean had no words. “Sorry it was a weird dream.” Emily said, kinda embarrassed. “Yeah I can tell.” Mrs. Sean said with a chuckle. “Let’s get everything out of the car, we have a lot of things!” Emily slowly got out of the car, “Chop chop, Emily. You just were asleep you should have a lot of energy.” “But I just woke up, it takes a little!” Emily said getting up a little faster.
Chapter Three
Get All Those Laughs Out
Emily got in the house with the last bags. She felt like the house was bigger on the inside than on the out. IT WAS SO BIG! It had a giant space when you walk in like a dance floor! And it had two sets of stairs on the side leading up to the balcony on the top floor! The kitchen was right under the top floor. “I still can’t believe how big this place is! Do we really need a house this big?” Emily said while she looked at it in bewilderment!
Mrs. Sean walked in the room and said, “It most definitely is! And it was the only house we could afford but it’s pretty nice don’t you think?!” “Ah!” Mrs. Sean startled her. “Easy there, you almost spilled my coffee!” “Oh sorry you were very quiet walking in.” “Oh so now it’s my fault?” “N-no.” Emily didn’t like it when her mom was mad at her, or even mad at all. But then suddenly Mrs. Sean started cracking up, “I’m just joking with you!” she managed to say while she was laughing. Emily didn’t think it was that funny but Emily still was happy to see her mom enjoying herself, ‘cause after her dad died, she wasn’t herself. But she’s definitely acting herself now! She’s a very happy and funny person, it’s
fun having her as a mom. But still, Emily wanted to get out of this, her mom was practically crying because she was laughing so hard! “Can I go on my iPad please?” “Ok go ahead.” Emily ran upstairs and started played on her iPad.
Chapter Four
Meeting A Friend
The next day, Emily woke up very tired, because she just couldn’t sleep. She doesn’t know why but she felt like something was watching her. But whatever, nothing could’ve been watching her. Just then her mom knocked on the door, “Emily, breakfast is ready,” Mrs. Sean said as she walked in. Her mom only made breakfast on special days so it must be a special day. Which makes sense if the house wasn’t haunted. Mrs. Sean probably doesn’t know about the rumor.
“What’s for breakfast?” Emily asked. “Waffles!” Mrs. Sean smiled she new Emily’s response, “WAFFLES! You do really know me!” Emily was so exited! “Yes waffles!” Mrs. Sean said, Emily was finally happy in the new house! “Wow this must be a special day if you aren’t only making breakfast but you’re also making my favorite breakfast!” Emily said with a happy laugh. “We moved in a nice house and we can start all over and have a good life, what’s not to celebrate?” This proves that Mrs. Sean doesn’t know about the ghost. “Well come down and eat before we go!” Mrs. Sean said. “Go?” Emily said, where are they going? “Oh, right, sorry I forgot. Since we moved in the middle of the
school year-” Emily knew it was bad before Mrs. Sean finished. “-you’re going to school.” Mrs. Sean finished. “WHAT!” Emily couldn’t believe her ears! “No, no, no you got it wrong! It’s the middle of the school year, no one wants to go to school in the middle of the school year!” “I know no one wants to but some people have to. No more arguing.” Mrs. Sean said.
The bell was already ringing and Emily couldn’t open her locker. She new it was going to be a bad day. “You kick it three times.” Someone said behind her. “What?” Emily swirled around to find a girl behind her with a

bag over one shoulder. She looked about twelve, with long curly brown hair, blue eyes and freckles. “Oh you kick it three times to open it. Sorry I didn’t introduce myself, did I? I’m Rachel. You’re the new kid, right? What was it?….Emily?” Rachel said. “Umm..yeah how’d you know?” “Oh it’s a small school. Everybody knows everybody.” Rachel was acting like Emily should know it too, but Emily didn’t. But, luckily, Rachel read her mind. “Don’t worry though you don’t have to learn their names yet. It takes a little time at the school to learn.” Rachel looked at her watch, “Oh my, I’m gonna be late to class! See ya at lunch?” She ran off while Emily said, “Um yeah sure…” Maybe today wasn’t gonna be as bad as Emily thought.
Chapter Five
Lunch
Emily walked around, trying to find the lunch room, and, having no luck, she missed her old school, knowing where everything was, having so many friends. Why couldn’t she go back there? It would have to be better than here! Finally she saw someone dump a lunch tray in the garbage. There it was. While she was walking to where the guy threw his tray, she thought, no more thinking about my old school, it’s too late to go back now anyways, but good news: I got a friend already. Bad news: it’s gonna take a while to get used to it here.
Finally she reached the lunch room. She looked around and saw no brown hair, blue eyes, freckled person there. Then, “There you are! I was looking everywhere for you!” Rachel walked up behind Emily. “Sorry I couldn’t find the lunch room.” Emily said. “Well that explains it, but I’m hungry, let’s go eat.” Rachel walked over to an empty table. “We can sit here,” Rachel said. “Oh,” Emily said, “I thought you could introduce me to your friends.” Rachel suddenly had a sad face. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to make you sad.” Emily felt like she was making everything worse. “No it’s ok,”. Rachel got the courage to say, “You know the house they say is haunted? Well, all my friends say they saw a ghost and, well, they left
the village.” Rachel really had a sad face now. “I’m so sorry!” Emily said, and then managed to say, “But I live in that house.” Emily held her breath, does that mean there’s actually a ghost at her house? “Oh, well…” Rachel didn’t know what to say, but she got the nerve to ask, “Have you seen a ghost yet?” Emily could tell she was uncomfortable. “Well no I just…do you think there’s a ghost? Emily hoped this was all a trick. “The truth is, I’m not exactly sure. You see I used to think there wasn’t a ghost, until everybody said they’d seen the ghost. I still have a suspicion there is no ghost but I’m not exactly sure.” Rachel said.
“Oh no! There’s a ghost in my house!” Emily thought she said it quietly but I guess she didn’t. Everybody turned around and weirdly looked at her. Emily looked around, “Did I say that out loud?” Emily said, trying to act like nothing was happening. But everybody knew something was up and they scooched a little closer, wanting to know what was going on. Luckily Rachel came to the rescue, “Hey everyone stop staring at her it’s weird! Don’t you want to show the new kid how good this school is?!” Emily was so lucky it worked. And everyone went back to eating, except when Emily walked out of the lunch room because everyone stared. Someone even said she was weird.
Chapter Six
Dream Or Ghost?
“Who are you?!” Emily asked. It was the middle of the night, and there’s the ghost. Well, probably, because what else could it be? It’s not Emily’s mom and Emily has no siblings. So it has to be the ghost, right? “I’m the ghost, I already told you,” the ghost said. “Then what’s your name?” Emily asked, still believing it was impossible to be talking to a ghost! “My name is Anthony,” said Anthony the ghost. “Ghosts aren’t real!” Emily said trying to look brave even though it was
obvious she wasn’t. “You’re scared aren’t you? Well I’ll make a deal with you. You go and I won’t hurt you,” Anthony said. “This is just a dream! This is just a dream!” Emily said as if she would wake up after she said it. “Then pinch yourself,” Anthony said. But Emily didn’t, she didn’t want it to be real. Just then a white blur ran somewhere in the shadows! But it made no sense! You can’t see ghosts, they aren’t even real! This can’t be a real ghost!
Chapter Seven
School Is Important
Emily woke up very tired. She didn’t know why, because she remembered a dream very clearly. That must mean she slept well, right? Well unless it wasn’t a dream. I mean, I know it’s weird but the dream seemed so real to Emily, and you can’t deny it’s weird how Emily remembers it so clearly! Emily never remembers dreams that clearly! Emily got up and walked downstairs to find her mom on her phone in the kitchen. “Hi Mom,” Emily said. Mrs. Sean looked up. “Oh good morning sweetheart.
