Steve is 11 years old. He studies at a secondary school. He likes his school and his friends. His favorite subjects are Maths, English, Social studies, Art and P.E.  Steve is a hardworking student. He is an honest and kind boy. He has many friends and is a popular boy at school.

He has got two brothers are four and five years old. Their names are David and Frank. They don't go to school. His mother's name is Anna and she is a doctor. His father's name is Micheal and he is an engineer. His mother and father always work hard.

Steve lives in a flat with his family  in a big city. There are a lot of people, vehicles and buildings in the city. 

Steve likes animals and he has got a dog  called Ginger. Steve sometimes walks the dog, Ginger. They sometimes go to far places.

Steve likes  nature : flowers, trees, all type of  animals, the sky, rivers, seas, mountains...

One day he and Ginger  went into the forest near the city. While they were walking he saw some beautiful flowers and butterflies. Ginger was running towards butterflies in the forest and  Steve  was following him. Ginger enjoyed the nature because There is no fresh air, trees, birds, butterflies where they live in. There is no exhaust  and traffic in the forest. Steve and Ginger felt peaceful and happy in the forest.

 While they were walking Steve picked some fruits and ate. The fruits were much more delicious than the ones they bought from the market and they smelled amazing too. He thought of taking  some of these fruits to his family when he got home.

Walking in to the forest Steve remembered that that day  his birthday.

His family  always throws party for him every year. 

While he was thinking about his birthday he saw a giant tree ,was  on the hill. Ginger chased after a butterfly and reached the tree, and Steve caught up with him near the tree.

Steve felt coolness in the shade of the tree While the dog walking around the tree.

At that moment, he wished that his family was under this tree and that they could celebrate his birthday together under this tree. His brothers would also be very happy to play under this tree

 Steve touched the tree and felt relaxed and comfortable. He felt the greatness of the  tree with his fingers. He thought that the birds and other animals were really lucky. He imagined life of animals and took a deep breath with birds singing. Nature's peace and perfection officially opened his mind. Steve realized that the peace of nature was better than the city life. 

Suddenly Steve felt his fingers were going into the tree. He got surprised. He tried to get back from tree but failed.It was  too late for him. He realized he was being pulled towards the tree and couldn't move.He wondered what would happen if  he went inside the tree. Steve felt his body like a cloud  penetrated in to the tree...

He couldn't go anywhere anymore. He felt his feet buried in the ground like roots. His arms were like branches. His head and belly were inside the trunk of the tree. Many leaves were trembling with the wind in his arms and hands. Some butterflies were flying among them and playing with each other.

Steve saw a flying bird above his head and tried to touch but he couldn't.The bird perched on his shoulder, he felt its feet and it was looking at him so he realized that the bird wanted to befriend him. 

Steve touched it gently with his leaves.The bird let him touch and began to sing " happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you ...Happy birthday STEVE..."      He was thoroughly confused but he felt happy. 

Steve looked at the Ginger. It was still chasing the butterflies.After a while he lay down on the grass.

Steve was happy in the role of the tree, but also very curious to see the greatness of nature. He felt how the wind blew pleasantly through its leaves. The sun gently caressed his branches and warmed him. He was smiling being relaxed. The coolness of the evening slowly descended, and the night spread its curtain over the squeezed earth, which was looking for the rest. A swarm of colorful butterflies circled around the tree. A few ones sat on its branches. Steve was delighted with them. Steve was in a tall tree, on the top of the hill, surrounded by many birds singing charmingly. Ginger was next to him, on the grass.

 The next morning, the bird brought materials for the nest, looking for the perfect place for nestlings, safe from the scorching sun, but also from the torrential rains. It was a small, noisy and very fast bird.

It  succeeded in creating a nest in the tree's branches in a matter of days...Steve was impressed by the bird's skill and deeply moved by how quickly it constructed a home. His girlfriend stayed in the nest  for a few days, after which five adorable chicks came out, Steve was delighted and fascinated by the noise of the chicks and the way their mother fed them.There were five little chicks in the nest:  Three white chicks and two black chicks.

Their chirping reminded Steve's his brothers and his parents, who must have been worried about his disappearance. How much time had passed? How do you tell him where he was and he couldn't go back home? 

Right then, Ginger sat down in the shade of the  tree.Steve was happy to see his dog again. Suddenly he felt some movements on his trunk. Come on ! What is this?

              Here's a spider. And some ants were  climbing the branches of the tree in a hurry. A green caterpillar was also seen, Steve closed his eyes. Does a tree live like this? he asked himself. He didn't like this part anymore. He was amazed to see how many hideous creatures climbed on him. There were also a lot of insects, some of which right on his arms. In the sunlight, many cobwebs glistened like snow. A shy caterpillar was caught in a web while it was dragging its body toward a juicy leaf. After a fierce fight with the spider web, the caterpillar managed to escape before the fierce spider appeared.

         Steve was fascinated and intrigued at the same time by the world of small creatures that surrounded him. At the base of the tree  there was a colony of ants working like a factory. His trunk was like a highway on which ants were constantly going up and down. They were very hardworking and well - organized.

There were some mushrooms red with dots attractive to bunnies, pleasant for the tree and shelter for the mouse .  Rica Bunny has two very cute bunnies. Rica takes care of them, and the bunnies grow up healthy in their house in the forest. One morning Rica said: - I'm going to the forest to get food .. You stay at home and wait for me quietly! - That is how we’ll do it, said the bunnies. The bunnies played for a while, but then they got bored. Suddenly, one of the bunnies, Iepurila, thought that Rica, their mother, was coming. He jumped out of the house and looked at the path that leads to the edge of the forest. He saw something, but he didn't know what it was. But, as he approached, he saw that a tree was moving and at its base there were mushrooms and a mouse that ran to hide under the umbrella of the mushrooms.

They were both looking into the same direction, but suddenly Urechila said: - Let's hide! And he hid in the clearing. But as their mother, Rica, had taken the shortcut, she quickly reached the magic tree. With a heart full of worry, she started calling out to them, but she didn't get any answer. After moving away a little, she received an answer to her calls. When the bunnies heard their mother's voice they ran towards her. From that moment on, the two mischievous became kind with all the animals in the forest.                                                                                     Mariana's Class

A squirrel was running up and down on the branches .She climbed up the branch of the tree to take shelter. She also called her friend to climb on the branches of the tree that was moving in the wind. It was raining heavily, whipping as if they reminded the forest that autumn rust has arrived. One by one, the weaker twigs fell and with them the acorns one by one. Flocks of birds, furrow the sky and blacken the horizon, turning and saying goodbye to their friend, the tree. He calls them out and calls them back even though he knows how cold he will be until he sees them again and what tribute he should pay. He will console himself that he is not really alone and that the squirrels will hate him, When the wind will drive them away to their burrows. Sad and thoughtful of what was happening to him, the boy, transformed into a tree, admired the spectacle of nature and with the hope that he will return to his previous life, fell asleep under the sound of the rain that was singing the sadness from the poor boy's soul.                                          Mariana's Class

A man was wandering alone in the forest,  because he decided that on his Easter holidays he would wallk there. During that walk he had the opportunity to observe beautiful landscapes, where he found native and invasive plants and animals.  

He was Fernando, a teacher of Sciences and Biology, who worked at S. Bento school, which is part of a group of eco-schools responsible for the activities related to the  sustentability and recycling of the school.

Fernando sat under the shadow of a young and lush green oak, which was our friend Steven... The man was looking around, communicating with nature, and, suddenly, he heard a voice... It was coming from the tree... it seemed like a child crying for help...

-Help... Help...
