Carter is a normal child who loves to play outside, play basketball, build, and laugh. Carter has been in daycare since he was born. He has been around so many different kids and teachers. Carter is going into kindergarten and he is so nervous.



Carter has apraxia. Apraxia is a type of speech disorder where it affects how someones body's speaks. This means someones tongue, lips, and lower jaw have a hard time saying words. This has not stopped Carter from having fun, because Carter can still speak in other ways like laughing and pointing.

Carter is so nervous to go to kindergarten, he is scared he will have a hard time making friends because he has a hard time talking.


Carter did not have the best time in prekindergarten, because he did not have many friends. He wanted to be friends with Elon, but Elon was mean to him.



Carter is excited for a new start with people he does not know, like Elon who was mean to him.



Today is the day, Carters first day of kindergarten! Carter rushes out the door with his mom Laura. He has the biggest smile on his face. Laura drops Carter off at school and tells him she loves him.



Carter finds his class, his teachers Mr John and Miss Katie greet him. They welcome Carter and show him his locker and his desk. He puts away his things and sits down at his desk to begin the day.
