"It was a unique moment, as if it happened yesterday. Everest is now the dream of every mountaineer, but in 1995 it was extremely difficult for a Romanian mountaineer to propose such a thing. I felt then, on the summit, at an altitude of 8,850 m, that I fulfilled the dream of many climbers from home, that it was a victory for Romanian mountaineering and for those who supported me", Ticu Lacatusu tells us.
