Old man Zander was a very old man. His daughter, Irene, lived with him. Irene’s two daughters, Allie, the oldest, and Arabella, were living with him when he passed. Irene was furious, and did what her father would have hated. 

Arabella! Do your work! 

Day after day Arabella worked. She got scraps for dinner, and all while she was doing work, Allie was getting fancy new clothes and dresses.

To Arabella, it was a swirling storm.

  But Arabella was determined to work as best as she could. She managed to get a job working in the palace. She bought proper maid clothes, and learned her etiquette.

  One day, as Arabella was working, she heard something at the door. She went to see what it was.

  She was surprised to find Grandpa Zander walk in!

    Grandpa Zander was white. Ghostly white. His great green eyes could make you feel like a lonely kid that was longing to go home. 

Fear not, dearest Arabella. Your time shall come.

Grandpa Zander? What do you mean?

Arabella watched her Grandpa fade away until he was again, just a memory. Then, Allie walked in.

Arabella? Who were talking to?

Nobody.

  Arabella was terrified when her mother walked in. Irene was wearing a bright pink shirt with black ripped jeans.

Arabella! Go to the ship at the docks. Someone wants you! Also, get changed into sailing clothes.
