Hi! I'm Cooper and I'm here to tell you a story about the "Valve Turners"

Let's start off by admiring the environment we are surrounded with! Look at the beautiful scenery and all the animals living in it!

The beauty of this planet was exactly what the "Valve Turners" were fighting for when they took direct action against climate change!

For those who don't know, climate change refers to the shifts in temperature and weather patterns that a lot of scientists believe are being caused by human activities!

The biggest contributor to climate change has been the fossil fuel industry. This includes the coal, oil, and gas markets!

In hopes of stopping this, a group of five men decided to come together to shut down the pipelines that transported oil from Canada to US for a day!

The five men knew there would be consequences for their actions. They contacted the oil companies beforehand and even waited for the police to show up to give themselves up willingly!

The men only cared about the activism that their actions would create and hoped that big industries and the government would make efforts to slow down fossil fuel production!

However, these men ended up getting charged with various offenses and were classified as "domestic terrorists" for their actions!

Although there is no universal definition of terrorism, most people agree that the action must include some form of violence or property damage to be considered terrorism. Both of which the "Valve Turners" actions lacked.
