This is Carl. After 3 years of 

college, 11 weeks of police 

training, and two years of being a 

regular cop, he was finally 

promoted into a police detective.

A police detective is a person who tries to 

find clues to solve problems and catch bad 

people. Everyday police detectives talk to 

people who saw what happened an look for 

things that can help show what really 

happened. It's like solving a puzzle.  

"Why would Carl want to become a police 

detective?" you ask. Well it's been Carl's 

dream to be a superhero and help save 

people from bad people. He also gets paid 

75,000 dollars a year if he does a good job 

which he uses to take care of his wife and 

two kids.

Carl loves his job which took lots 

of hard work to get. Not only did 

he study for many years at school 

but he also needed to be a US 

citizen, over the age of 21, good 

agility, strength, and good vision 

and hearing.
