1920 was the beginning of a new era. flappers/the new woman, The prohibition, jazz, Speakeasies, and Woman's right to vote. America was changing and 1920 kicked off the roaring Decade. 

The way people dressed, particularly woman changed drastically in 1920. this was the beginning of the Flapper/New Woman. Bold, rebellious, free, all of these words could be used to describe these young groundbreaking women. 

Fashion and gender norms were not the only things changing during 1920. The Prohibition was established this year. The 18th Amendment went into effect January 17, 1920. Thus brought another major event that would cascade, creating history. With the prohibition brought along the creation of speakeasies and bootleggers, two things the roaring 20s are most famous for.

When the 18th amendment went into affect in the beginning of 1920, many americans were unhappy. Because of this, the found many creative, innovative, and illegal ways to get around the Prohibition. As previously mentioned, this is when speakeasies and bootlegging began.
