One summer day in Frog Creek,
Pennsylvania, a mysterious tree house
appeared. Eight-year-old Jack and his
seven-year-old sister Annie discovered the
tree house in the woods near their home.
They found it filled with all kinds of books.
It was a magic tree house and it could take
them to the places in the books. All they
had to do was point to a picture in a book
and wish to go there. They found that the
tree house belonged to me, Morgan Le
Fay. I am a Master Librarian from the time
of King Arthur. Now Jack and Annie are
about to set off on another adventure in
search of the gifts of India.

"Welcome, Jack and Annie," said Morgan.
"Are you ready for your next adventure?"
"Cool, we're ready," said Jack.
"We sure are," said Annie.
"Your next adventure will be to a country
called India," said Morgan.
"Wow, that's in Asia," shouted Jack.
All of a sudden the wind started to blow.
The tree house started to spin. It spun faster and faster.
Then everything was still, absolutely still.
"Let's get going," said Annie.
"I can't wait to explore India."

"Look," said Jack. "There's an Indian elephant."
"Look at how it's all decorated," said Annie.
"It says here that elephants are loved in India and they
are raised in elephant camps by trainers called mahouts.
Then they decorate their bodies with painted designs
and silk cloths. They place little huts called howtahs on
their backs for festivals and parades," said Jack.
"Let's go for a ride," said Annie.
And off they went.

While riding the great elephant, Annie
and Jack saw a beautiful building off in
the distance. It was the most beautiful
palace that they had ever seen.
"Look, Jack! We must go there,"
said Annie.
As they came closer, they saw a beautiful
woman standing outside. "Welcome to
Agra, my friends. I am Mumtaz Mahal
and this is my palace, the Taj Mahal. It
was built for me by my husband, the
emperor, Shah Jahan. When I died giving
birth to my baby boy, my husband was so
sad that he had this palace built in my
honor. It is a mausoleum, a tomb where
I am buried along with my husband.

It took 20 years and 20,000 people to build. It was
made of white marble in the style of the Mugal
architecture. People come from all over the world to see
this beautiful palace. The gateway is etched in black
writing with verses from the Koran. There are four thin
towers called minarets and a large central dome that
stands 200 feet tall. The domes, arches,
and minarets of the Taj Mahal are repeated on the two
sides of the buildings with gardens and a pool on the
outside of the palace. Now, Jack and Annie, you must be
on your way to see more of my beautiful
country." "Thank you, we will,"
said Jack and Annie.

Then Jack and Annie continued on
their journey into the deep forests
of India where they heard a loud
growling noise from behind the
trees. There in the woods was a
Bengal tiger, just one of the many
symbols of India.

After Jack and Annie learned about
some of the Indian symbols from
their friend, such as the Bengal tiger,
they journeyed on to discover more
about India.
"Look, Annie!" said Jack. "It's a book
about Hinduism."
"Boy, would I love to learn about
that," said Annie.
"It says here that it's a religion that
started 4,000 years ago," said Jack.
"Wow! That's a long time ago. Read
on, Jack," said Annie.
