On a cold, rainy night, everyone on Himmel
Street was sleeping through what could be
their last day of life. There was an air raid
that would hit them in the middle of the night
and Death was making his way to Himmel
Street. However there were two who weren't
asleep and heard shouting from the closest
street shouting,"AIR RAID! AIR RAID!"
The two awake would try and save Himmel
Street. Their names are Rudy and Liesel.

Rudy and Liesel immediately met up in Liesel's basement
they were trying to think of what to do in so little time.
Liesel was panicking and was a nervous wreck. However,
Rudy told her,"Stay calm, I have an idea that might just be
crazy enough to work. I just need to you to cooperate,ok?".
Liesel nodded and grabbed Rosa's pots and pans and loudly
clapped them together. The sound was so loud it woke
everyone on the street up. They were angered at first but
were grateful once they heard about the air raid. They
were too scared to leave the house but too scared to stay
in it as well. All were so confused as they simply just
closed their eyes and remain in silence.

They evacuated quickly and got out safely. As
they ran onto the street, they all looked back at
the house knowing this may be the last time they
will be able to see their home. To them this was
a very special place with very special memories.
They were upset at this fact but they knew they
had to go. Hans said, "Everyone follow me. The
next train out of town is in 10 minutes. They had
nothing but the clothes they wore and some extra
food and water. They left Himmel Street...maybe
forever.

They all boarded the train and left. They
were relieved about surviving the air raid
and were relocating to the house of a relative
for a few days until they could get back to
normal. However they noticed Liesel wasn't
on the train. They saw her at the station and
got off. She was running away saying she
forgot her beloved book. Rosa said not to
worry about it that they would get a new one
but she was already gone.

They followed her back to Himmel Street only
to see their homes in flames. Liesel was running
into the burning home to retrieve her book.Then
Hans yelled, "Liesel! It's just a book! You're going
to get killed." Rudy agreed but went and stopped
her.He said he would go and get it and Liesel
insisted he wouldn't. He told her he would do
anything for her and said "I love you, Liesel
Meminger". He turned around and ran inside.
Liesel, screaming out and crying knowing this is
her fault.
