Every year for their birthday the base ten blocks each throw a birthday party.

This year was no different. Hundreds Block wanted to have a party that his friends Tens Block and Ones Block could come to.

But there was one little problem. His door only fit him and his friends weren't the same size as him. So how could he make it so they could come to the party?

He called up his friends Tens Block and Ones Block and asked them, "how can you guys change to fit through the door and be the same size as me? They weren't sure.

Then, they had an idea. "What if I added nine more of me, would that work?" asked Tens Block. "Right now I am ten, so if I add nine more groups of ten I would be one hundred right?" "And what if I added ninety-nine more ones to me?" asked Ones Block.

"That's it!" said Hundreds block. "Tens Block, if you add ninety more to yourself you'll be one hundred like me and you'll fit!"

"And Ones Block if you add ninety-nine more to yourself you'll be one hundred like me and you'll fit too!"

So Tens Block added ninety more to herself and became a hundreds block, and Ones Block added ninety-nine more to himself and also became a hundreds block.

And they went to Hundreds Block's house and celebrated his birthday and ate lots of cake.

But then Tens Block wanted to have his party. How were Hundreds Block and Ones Block going to fit through her door?
