Instinct is things that animals don't have to be 

taught. Things animals do without learning are 

things they are born with. 

For Example a dogs natural instinct is to bark at 

people it doesn't know.The reason dogs do this is 

because they   are very protective over there 

surroundings.

Photo taxes is the way animals or insects react 

to light. You have some animals who like being 

around light and you have some who avoid 

light.

For example bats do not like sunlight. Bats do 

their hunting at night instead of daylight 

because of the sun. Moths are attractive to 

lights, have you ever seen moths hanging 

around your porch light? 

During the colder months of the year some 

animals go into a deep sleep. The animals eat 

plenty of food before they go to sleep. 

Hibernation helps many animals gain energy 

by not being active. 

A brown bear is one of the animals that 

hibernates during the winter. Why do bears 

hibernate? Bears hibernate because it would be 

hard for them to find enough food in the winter. 

Bears eat plenty of food before the hibernate 

and gain up to 40 pounds during this process.

Estivation is the process of an animal growing. 

Estivation is almost like Hibernation but 

happens in summer instead of winter. The 

animal is growing features of his body and 

mentally in his mind.

For example snakes and worms estivate in the 

summer time. The reason why id because in 

the summer it is hot so they dig under the 

ground. The soil in the ground is cool so they 

try to avoid heat.

Migration is when an animal moves from one 

living area to another. The animal may leave 

because their might not be enough food. 

Another reason may be because of the weather 

change.

For example birds fly south for the winter 

because they won't survive the cold weather. 

Birds like to be warm that's why we only see 

them in the spring and summer.
