Alligator snapping turtles are found in North
America in freshwater. Alligator snapping
turtles have a tongue that looks like a worm
and the alligator snapping turtle lets their
tongue sit at the bottom of the river so that
it can catch fish and frogs. Alligator snapping
turtles predators are alligators, bears, foxes,
raccoons, and skunks by using their big jaws
to wrap around the turtles in which to eat.


Alligator snapping turtles live in North America
in freshwater. Can be almost exclusively found
in rivers, canals, and lakes of the southeastern
United States.

Alligator snapping turtles can live from 50 years old
to 100 years old. Male alligator snapping turtle
average about 26 inches (66 centimeters) in shell
length and they weigh about 175 pounds (80
kilograms), however they have been able to exceed
220 pounds (100 kilograms).

Females weigh
Female alligator snapping turtles weigh around 50
pounds (23 kilograms). Alligator snappers spend most
of their lives in the water but there is the exception
when the females start trudging 160 feet (50 meters)
inland to start nesting. Alligator snappers can stay
underwater for 40 to 50 minutes until they have to
resurface for air.

The alligator snapping turtles predators are
alligators, bears, foxes, raccoons, and skunks by
using their big jaws to wrap around the turtles in
which to eat. Alligator snappers are strong the ways
they are strong are that they have beak like jaws,
long and sharp claws, and a ridged shell and those
spikes on the shell and for self defense.
