Instinct
An instinct is something you know to do without
thinking about it.
Ex: Like when kittens are born they know to feed
off of their mothers without being taught.


Phototaxis
Phototaxis is when an organism moves because of light,
It can either move towards the light or away from it.
Ex: Moths always move towards light.


Hibernation
Hibernation is how some animals deal with winter, in
other words they find a safe place and sleep through
winter.
Ex: Bears will sleep through winter in caves...


Estivation
Estivation is when an animal stops growing because of
the heat or dryness of the weather.
Ex: Lizards estivate during the middle of summer...


Migration
Migration is when a group of animals move from on
place to another because of the change of seasons.
Ex: Zebras migrate every year in search of
greener pastures.


Habituation
Habituating is when animals learn something from seeing it
done.
Ex: Prairie dogs give an alarm when there is an enemy-like
animal approaching.


Imprinting
Imprinting is when a young animal starts to look up to
another animal as there parent.
Ex: If a baby duck is lost it will find another duck to
imprint on and follow it around as if its there mother.


Classical Conditioning
Classical conditioning is when you teach an animal to do
something it would not know how to do on its own.
Ex: A man named Pavlov taught his dog to slob at the sound
of a bell.


Trial and Error Learning
A way to learn to do something after trying over
and over until you get it right.
Ex: Dogs can practice jumping hurdles until they
can get over with hitting it or making it fall.
