Chapter 49: United
They made it back to their camp by the evening of the next day.
Dede was the first to spot them and she ran through the camp yelling, "Faye's home and she has Cameron!"
Everyone was soon greeting them.
Thalia had put her hood over her head and stayed behind by the river, for she didn't want to be seen by her people. She was scared of what they would think because they had last seen her as a dragon.
Denarius finally got through the crowd and welcomed them back. "That was actually very fast," he said to Faye. Then to Cameron, "You look more mature. Hopefully you'll also act that way too."
"You're right," Cameron said to Faye. "He hasn't changed at all."
Faye smiled and looked behind her where Thalia was still hiding. They needed to be somewhere private and not with all these people around. "Denarius," Faye said. "I have something to show you by the river."
Faye told Cameron to stay and walked with Denarius to where Thalia was. Thalia slowly walked out and Denarius stepped back, confuse by the stranger in the hood. "Who is this?" he asked.
Thalia flipped off her hood and Denarius almost fell over with shock.
"I'll leave you two," Faye said quickly and left.
"Hello again, Denarius," Thalia said. "I know it's been a while."
"How are you still alive?" Denarius asked, coming closer. "I saw you die and . . . and it was the saddest moment of my life."
"Well I came back because Faye's mother gave me a second chance. But I can never use my animal form again. So . . . I guess I shouldn't rule."
"No, we need you to be queen, Thalia," Denarius said. "You are the perfect ruler."
Denarius smiled and they hugged.
Thalia looked into his eyes and said, "You said watching me die was the saddest moment in your life. Do I really mean that much to you?"
"Yes," Denarius said, a tear springing from one of his eyes. "And I'm never going to lose you again, Thalia."
Thalia flung her arms around his neck and kissed him.
Faye watched from a distance and felt very content. Cameron came up beside her and remarked, "This would all be the perfect fairy tale ending if
there wasn't a large nation called Anoteros trying to kill us all. In fact, I think now they are super angry. We might not be here much longer if we don't come up with a plan."
"Well then, I already have one," Faye said. "Call all of the people together."
. . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Hours later the whole plan was explained and Faye set out to the river. As everyone in the camp was getting armed and ready, Faye was visiting every gathering of Beasts around the world using the river. She rallied each and told them how weak and vulnerable Anoteros was at the moment.
"Now is the time to strike and take down this government!" she said.
All across Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia, and the Americas, Beasts were preparing for night, then they would all attack. A whole synchronized attack on every major city in Anoteros.
They were ordered not to kill any civilians but just to detain the leaders. Faye and Cameron were going to break into the news room and broadcast all throughout the country. She would reveal all the lies of Anoteros and hopefully the people would rally to their cause.
Once Faye finished her mission she returned to camp and met with Denarius. "Here," she said, handing him the sword he had given to her.
"No, you keep it. It was a gift," Denarius said. "Besides, I never liked that sword anyway."
he walked away chuckling and Faye rolled her eyes.
Night soon came and their army set out through the forest toward the lights of New Skielie. Faye had made Peter stay behind with Dede, who had taken an instant liking to the boy.
There were still sirens wailing by the fallen Tower and Faye knew that they now had the upper hand because the guards and Chasers would be to busy with the wreckage to notice them until it was too late.
They suddenly let out a loud cry and rushed forward to the gate. Quickly knocking out the guards stationed their, they poured into the city street and there were surprised cries from every side.
The Chasers were so caught off guard that they were quickly put out and Faye ran to find the news building with Cameron. They knew the city very well and it didn't take them very long to locate the large building.
They got inside and the staff quickly backed away, too scared to fight them.
Cameron got to work on the broadcast and Faye watched the prisoners.
"Who are you?" a woman asked, shaking.
"I am Faye Spring," Faye said. "I am a Beast but I won't hurt you, I promise."
"Faye, it's good to go," Cameron called to her.
Faye nodded and hoped that all the other Beasts across the world had taken their cities by now.
Cameron focused the camera on Faye and gave her a signal to start talking.
"Hello, people of the world," she said. "I am Faye Spring, a Beast. I
know you might have realized that we have finally fought back against you. But that was all so I could tell you this. Anoteros is a false government that only wants to keep you in their clutches. They do not care for you or your children, they just want control."
Faye paused and then continued, "If you want proof of this then look at the schools. They scare children into submission by telling lies about us. We are not the monsters Anoteros wants you to believe we are. We are people, just like you. Before I found out I had the power to change into an animal, I was treated like a normal person. But I was rejected once I found out who I was. This goes for every single Beast. Look around you and question what else Anoteros might have been lying about."
Suddenly, a strong force broke down the door to the room and three
Chasers with double sided Rods ran into the room.
They shot the control board and the broadcast ended.
Faye quickly turned into a falcon and jumped on the first, grabbing the Rod and swinging it to hit another.
Cameron even got to test his new, adult strength, and tackled the third Chaser.
The three were soon out and Cameron commented, "I can't believe I wanted to be one of these guys."
"Hah, remember that silly costume you wore to the Parade?" Faye asked, laughing. "Man, you were obsessed with Chasers."
She turned and looked back at the camera.
Cameron, guessing what she was thinking, said, "There is no time to try
and get the broadcast back up. Hopefully the people of the world got the message."
They ran out of the building and were met by an amazing sight. People rallying all throughout the street. They joined the Beasts and Faye had never seen anything so powerful and beautiful at the same time.
Together they were going to take back their home.
