The Path to Becoming a Pediatric Nurse

What do they do?
Pediatric nurses, take care of toddlers, up until they are young adolescence. They perform many different tests, and procedures on these kids making sure they get the care they need. They need to make sure the kids are getting the medication they need, in the right amount. Pediatric nurses are also responsible for keeping the parents updated on any good news that they have, but if there are any major concerns, they are typically not allowed to be the ones who share the information with the parents.


Personal Qualities:
- Being good with kids
- Patience
- Being kind
- Organized
- Overall well rounded/collected
Educational Requalities:
A bachelor's degree in science of nursing, or associate in nursing. On top of that, you need to be licensed. Become an RN after passing the exam. There is another exam after all training and schooling are completed, and finally, after everything, you can begin your career.

Working Conditions/Places of Employment:
Pediatric nurses work in hospitals, clinics, schools, and surgical centers; and some do private practice. These nurses work around all different kinds of situations and are required to deal with having a more calm day but then needed to always be prepared for emergencies. Pediatric nurses have to be quick on their feet and think off the top of their heads in case something goes wrong that they do not have the answers for. There are going to be a lot of people around, especially worried parents, or siblings, so pediatric nurses also need to be prepared for that.
