A is for Alhambra
Alhambra is a palace and
fortress complex located in
Andalucia, Spain. It has been the
inspiration for many songs and
stories.




B is for Bota bag
Bota bag is a traditional Spanish
liquid receptable. Typically, it is
made of leather and it is used to
carry wine.




C is for Croquettes
Croquettes are a small
breadcrumbed fried food roll. They
usually contain mashed potatoes
and/or ground meat.




D if for Spanish dresses
Spanish dresses are typical of each
region in Spain. They are not often
worn, but people do wear it during
celebrations.




E is for Euro
Euro is Spain's currency. The Euro
is also used in other European
countries.





F is for Flamenco
Flamenco is a form of Spanish folk
music and dance from the region of
Andalucia. It includes singing,
guitar playing, dancing and
handclapping.




G is for Galician gaita
The Galician gaita is a traditional
bagpipe of Galicia and Portugal.
Tunes using the gaita are usually
songs, with the voice either
accompanying the instrumentation
or taking turns with it.




H is for Hola
Hola means hello in Spanish. This
greeting is suitable in both formal
and informal contexts.




I is for Isidro
San Isidro is the patron saint of the
peasants and is also the patron
saint of the capital city of Spain,
Madrid. On the day of the saint,
which falls on May 15th, the people
of Madrid participate in many cultural
events.




J is for Jota
The jota is a Spanish folk dance
originated in Aragon, Spain. The dance is
visual and includes dancers wearing
traditional, regional costumes.




K is for King
Felipe VI is the King of Spain. He
is the eldest son of King Juan
Carlos I. Felipe, Prince of the
Asturias, assumed the throne on
June, 19th 2014 after his father's
abdication.




L is for Lomo
Lomo is the Spanish word for
tenderloin. Lomo is a cured meat
made from a pork tenderloin.




M is for Moors
The Moors were inhabitants of Spain
for around 700 years. They introduced
new scientific techniques to Europe,
such as an astrolabe, a device for
measuring the position of the stars and
planets.




N is for Navarre
Navarre is an autonomous
community in northern Spain.
The capital city is Pamplona.




O is for Olympics
The 1992 Summer Olympics were
held in the Spanish city of
Barcelona. Barcelona became the
inspiration for any city holding an
Olympic Games




P is for Pablo Picasso
Picasso was a Spanish painter,
sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist,
stage designer, poet and playwright
who spent most of his adult life in
France. He was one of the greatest and
most influential artists of the 20th
century.




Q is for Quijote
Don Quijote, fully titled The
Ingenious Gentleman Don Quijote
of La Mancha, is a Spanish novel
by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra.
It is considered to be one of the
greatest novels ever written.




R is for Rio Tinto
The Río Tinto is a river in
southwestern Spain that originates
in the Sierra Morena mountains of
Andalusia. Since ancient times, a
site along the river has been mined
for copper, silver, gold, and other
minerals.
