Part I Luna
Chapter one: Luna
I am not someone you think of when it comes to "popular". Whenever I look in the mirror all I can see
is my sister being so much better than me at everything. My name is "Luna". My sister's name is
"Sunny". She's the complete opposite of me. She gets everything she wants so easily, but I won't let
that stop me from achieving my dream. I've always wanted to study wolves. They are so graceful,
intelligent, resourceful, and work in packs, so first thing
in the morning I'm going to find one. I set my
journal down, and said
"Finally finished!" It's been so long since I've written in it. Suddenly I heard Bang! Bang! Bang! on my
door. I squeezed my eyes shut, and in my mind said
"Oh no. Please no no no ." Then I heard her voice
"Sis are you coming down for dinner, or are you practicing your "magic rituals again?!" I sighed and
said "It's called making potions, and I'd rather not tell you what I'm doing." Suddenly Sunny banged
open the door, and said
"This magic stuff is all fake." "Don't you see it's all fake!" "You'll never study wolves." "You'll never be
able to make magic things happen, and you have to accept that!" she yelled. I looked down at the
ground and said
"You're wrong." You get everything you want if you want to be an artist, then you get to
be an artist, so just leave me alone." I followed her downstairs, and my parents said
"Hi Luna." Then I looked at the ground, and said
"What do you want?" My parents looked at me, and said
"Before you say anything we just have to say that you are a smart young lady, but we can't let you
study wolves." "We put a tracker on your magic kit, so we know you'll take it with you and if you do
we can follow you" I growled at them, and my parents said
"We know you're angry with us, but studying animals is very dangerous." "You know if you were
more like Sunny, then maybe we'd let you, but you're not." "We can't let you do this."
I cried and said
"You're the worst parents ever!" Then I stormed off to my room. I looked out the window, and realized
that maybe I could sleep on it for now. I went to my hide away spot in the closet. Nobody, but me
knew there was a trap door that I had found when I was little. I had been playing with my sister,
when she was still kind to me, and I fell into the closet. I hit the wall, and then saw a lever. I thought it
would be fun to pull it, so I did, and I found my hide. I found so many crystals inside. So, so many in
fact all the crystals that I’d read about in my books, but my favorite was one that no books could
describe. It was glowing purple, and rainbow, and had glitter like fairy dust on it. I also had a garden
inside. It was where I planted my materials for my spells,
and potions. The last thing that I had found
here were books on magic, spells, potions, and finally wolves. Everything on wolves that I could
think of. I had been working on making a wand for some time, and then I thought it would be a good
idea to look at the forest. I finally found a strong enough stick. Which takes us back to now. I thought
instead of worrying I would start creating my wand, so I took out my pocket knife, and started to
carve. Since I had never done this before I was nervous I’d mess up, but thankfully enough I was
able to carve it just the way I’d imagined. It had two crescent moons, and one full moon in the
middle, but to finish it off I carved a hole into it and put the beautiful crystal that I didn’t have any
books on inside the hole. Suddenly the wand glowed, and the wood started to turn from brown to
purple. I gasped in awe, and wanted to run downstairs and show Sunny, but I knew I couldn't as if I
did it might ruin my secret, and what my parents didn’t know was that I had many witch kits. I took
the nearest one I could find. I took my wand, and a few potions I made. I only remembered seeing a
wolf once. I was maybe
five, and I was in the woods. I heard a howl, and a majestic wolf had come near me. He howled
loudly. I had stared at him surprised, and shocked, then scared but it came close to me, and I looked
right into his big beautiful eyes. Somehow I knew he wouldn’t hurt me, then as soon as I'd seen him
he was gone. After that day I'd sworn I'd study wolves anyways today I fell into a deep sleep. I
wanted to wake up at exactly midnight. I set an alarm for midnight. I had a strange dream that night.
I was dreaming of a mountain, but everything was happening so fast. something growling.
Something glowing, blinding light, then I looked down and saw paws. A second later I heard Beep!
Beep! Beep! I woke up and fell onto the ground. I let out a yelp, and felt woozy. I looked up and saw
a glowing figure of a wolf! I decided I needed to follow it. I jumped out my window with all my stuff,
and ran after it. I followed it into the woods. I remembered vaguely that this was where I had
sometimes practiced my magic, and healed woodland animals, but it had been so long since then.
The glowing figure led me deeper, and deeper into the forest until I didn’t know where I was. Then it
stopped abruptly, and disappeared. I was completely bewildered, until I saw a wolf, but it wasn’t in
good shape. It looked as if it had been in battle with
another wolf clan. It had minor cuts but there
was a part of the wolf that was bleeding badly. It wasn't a wolf fighting a wolf. This was a wolf that
had been shot. I knew that it would be difficult to heal the wolf on my own. I had never healed such a
large animal, but it was worth a try, so I took out my wand, and my crystals, and finally I found some
aloe vera, hibiscus, and basil. I mixed it into water that I had enchanted under the moonlight, then I
chanted as I danced around the potion with my wand.
"Healing, healing, heal me fine." "Healing, healing, healing with rhymes." "Healing, he
Aling to be taught." "Healing, healing for a month. Then I
tapped the potion. I fed the wolf the berries
slowly, then I took out the needle, and thread. Since I had never sewn anything before I might have
needed help, however I didn’t think it would hurt to try, so I took the needle, and started sewing.
When I finished I took out one last potion for good measure. The potion would prevent pain, while
the wound was healing. I took out my witch kit, and crushed up water lilies, and tiny pieces of edible
crystal inside, but the one last thing I needed was a small piece of the wolf. Then I carefully put a
small vile under the wolf’s mouth, and a small amount of drool fell out. The wolf looked annoyed, but
didn’t protest against it. Once I finished mixing everything I took out a cloth and wiped the wounds
down with it, then I stood back to see how I’d done. The wolf stood up, I ran and ran and ran after,
but he soon got far ahead and I couldn’t keep up, but just as I was walking away I noticed something
on the ground. A crystal of some sort. It was black, but if you turned it the right way it would become
dazzling. It would turn white and had a rainbow sheen to it then it would spark gold. The only other
thing I had seen that looked somewhat like that was the crystal I put into my wand. I picked the
crystal up and decided to take it home with me, but first I
would have to make a stop somewhere, so
I put the crystal in my bag and started off.
Chapter 2: The Shop
Once I’d made it out of the woods I heard my parents shouting after me, but honestly I didn’t care, so
I pulled my hood all the way up and ran. I got to the street, and stopped. I had never, I mean never
left the woods, or my house before without my parents! What if I got lost, or what if I got kidnapped,
or worse injured. I thought of all the horrible things that could happen to me, without even noticing
somehow I’d already made it to the shop that I always had come to on the weekends with my older
sister Sunny. I opened the door, and smelled the fresh blooming candle scent. I looked at the white
candle, and breathed in the smell. After a while I walked up the cashier Terry, who I’d known almost
my whole life. His face lit up, and he said
"Luna, what can I do for my favorite customer?" I smiled, and said "Well I was hoping you would
show me what this crystal was." I pulled it out, and his mouth almost dropped to the floor. Then he
grabbed my hand, and pulled me into a corner.
"Not here," he said. I looked at him with puzzlement,
then he banged on a locked door. It flung open,
and he pushed me inside. He took my hand, and said
"When is your next birthday?" I smiled and said
"Oh I almost forgot it’s tomorrow!" He took my hand in his, and said
"Listen Luna I have something that I was going to give to you when you get older, but.... I think now
would be better than any time." "You need this now." He took out the biggest box I’d ever seen, but it
was beautifully decorated. It was covered with gemstones, and made out of willow wood. He told me
to take it into my old woods, and open it there. I gave him a strange look, but suddenly he said "I’ll
explain everything to you once you know it." Then he snapped his fingers, and I was standing in front
of my woods again. I stepped inside and said
"Okay I trust you Terry." I went deep into the woods, and opened the chest. I was amazed to find all
the crystals inside of it. There was literally every single crystal in the whole world in this chest,
maybe even more than we knew of before. However, one single crystal at the bottom of the chest
caught my attention. It was just pure purple but it went in stacks of the different shades of purple.
Then I noticed an amulet that the crystal would absolutely fit in. I clicked it in place, and put it around
my neck, then I saw a note that had come with it. It was written in Terry’s handwriting. It said
"Dear Luna I knew this would be the crystal you wanted the most, so I thought this note should be
on here with it. The crystal that you got is a special magic that is the moon crystal, and the crystal
you’re wearing now is its match. "It’s the black wolf crystal." However there is also a white wolf
crystal. You must take great care of this crystal. It is about to give you unthinkable power, but I must
warn you that someone is out to get that power." "Love Terry." I looked at the note with confusion,
and thought
"What in the world just happened?!" I headed to my secret hide out in my house. I hid there till
dinner. When I heard an unexpected knock at my hideout door.
"Who is there?" I shouted.
"It’s just me," said Sunny.
"Oh you're the last person I want to see right now Sunny!" I shouted. "Aslo how did you know about
my secret place?! I asked.
"I’ve known Luna for a while Luna." "You know after you go missing all the time even when I know
you're in the house." "I saw this weird lever, and I
assumed you might have found something, so can
I come in?" Sunny asked. I felt my anger well up into a bubble, and explode.
"You always make fun of me for believing, and practicing magic!" "You don’t believe in magic."
"You're always so cruel and unkind to me, and never want to hang out anymore, so why do you want
to now?!" I shouted.
"Luna you know I always believed you, but I didn’t tell you because.... Our family has a secret, and
when your older Terry will give you..." I cut her off.
"Come in here." "Just pull the lever." "Also Terry already gave it to me." "Now tell me what is going to
happen to me." The lever clicked, and Sunny walked in. When she saw me wearing the amulet she
lowered her head, and said
"Luna, you don’t know what you just got yourself into, but when it happens tonight, come find me
outside." "I have some things to attend to." "See you tonight in the woods." Sunny said, and then she
just walked out. I wanted to follow her, but before I could I heard her yell up to me.
"Just don’t Luna." I got down, and went into my room. I opened the window for some fresh air, but
then I heard a strange sound like a crack. The window wouldn’t budge, then a strange figure jumped
out at me. I ran for the door locked. I was trapped inside my room.
Chapter 3: Rival
The person took out two identical daggers made of lava that had been dried, and cooled, but
definitely sharpened. It could become sharp, and hot quickly but wouldn’t harm the holder of them. It
was a genius contraption. Suddenly I forgot that the person with the daggers was trying to kill me,
but then I looked at the girl again, and screamed. Now I am back to normal. The girl put the dagger
to my throat and said
"To give it up ." I put my hands up, but asked
"Give up?"
"You know what you are!"
"What are you talking about?" I asked. She lowered her daggers abit, and said
"You really don’t know who I am?" I shook my head.
"Sunny it’s me." "You don’t know who I am?!"
"I am not Sunny!" I said. "I’m Luna." "Sunny’s my sister." Then she dropped the daggers, and
groaned.
"Uggggg!" "I got it wrong again!" "Okay sorry about that." "Have a good day." "Bye!" What just
happened I thought to myself. I let out a loud phew that I
didn’t even realize I'd been holding in. I
realized I had been sweating a lot, then I thought about what she said. "You're not Sunny?" "Omg!"
Was she going to hurt Sunny? I had to warn her. I raced to find Sunny, but found that I couldn’t
move. I couldn’t think. I couldn’t do anything other than just stand there. I sat there, and sat there. I
felt so worried about Sunny. Finally nightfall came, and I tried to move again. I felt the blood come
rushing back into my body. I gasped for air, and raced outside to the front yard. I saw Sunny standing
there, hands on her hips. She yelled
"Luna get over here right now!" I ran over and she said
"Are you hurt?!" I shook my head and said
"No." "Why?!" she sighed with relief, and said
"Okay good." "Now listen closely." "Do not fight it."
"Fight what?" I asked, but suddenly pain shot through me, and I fell crumpled to the ground.
"What's going on Sunny?! I said whimpering. Sunny looked down, and said
"Luna, don't fight it, that will only make it worse." "Listen this is a special power that you need to
embrace, but it will hurt at first. I screamed, and rolled around in the grass. The pain was
overwhelming me. Finally it stopped. I slowly stood up,
and Sunny took out a mirror for me to look
into. I took it with trembling fingers, and gasped. I had weird wolf ears, and a tail.
"How did this happen, Sunny?!" I asked. Sunny smiled, and pointed to my amulet. I felt so excited,
and confused at the same time. Then I snapped out of it. and said "Wait, wait, wait." "There was a
girl who tried to kill me, because she thought I was you." "What am I, and what is going on?" I asked.
Sunny said
"Stay calm Luna, and listen." "You're a werewolf now. There are people out there who want your
powers for themselves." "I need to tell you that the
person did try to hurt me, but she failed." "Just
don’t worry about it Luna, then I asked
"Do mom, and dad know?" Sunny shook her head.
"Then how did this happen?" Sunny paused, and said
"When we moved here I entered the woods, and found a hurt wolf like you, and the same thing
basically happened. Except now you have a chance to write your own story, and you have different
powers than me." "Honestly I think you’ll come to like even the strangest people once you get to
know them, and well there is someone I know that you don’t know yet but you will meet them in
time." "Night little sister, and with that Sunny just walked
back inside. I was left alone outside in the
freezing cold. I pulled on the door handle to get back into the house but the door was completely
locked! I heard a whisper behind me. I jumped back startled, and turned around surprised to see the
girl from earlier.
"Who are you?" I asked.
"The better question is why am I here?" she said.
"Well...." I said. "Why are you here?" she smiled sweetly, and said
"I know why you have become a wolf." "You've become a wolf to destroy this forest, and all of all its
power."
"I know all of your family’s sick games."
"Um I am not sure what you are talking about." I said. She smirked, and said
"But you will." "By the way my name is Dusk, but I already know your name, so I suppose without
further ado I give you my luck." Then she disappeared. I pulled at the door handle one last time, and
knowing that it wouldn’t open I decided to go to the forest. My other safe spot. I heard a loud howl in
the distance, and knew that I should follow it. I found a wolf sitting, and looking at me. Just looking. I
put my hand out for him to smell. He slowly came over, and licked my hand gently. I felt my heart
skip a beat when the wolf beckoned for me to follow her. She took me to an old wood tree house
with strange horse carvings on it, and inside there was a crown with one jewel sitting beside it. I
touched it, and the wolf started to speak.
"Hello Luna." "There is much I need to tell you."
Chapter 4: The Woodland Legend
The wolf sat down, and began.
"Once there were ten kingdoms. "One of air, fire, sun, moon, crystal, earth, ice, star, light wolf, dark
wolf, and magic. The kingdoms had rulers." "All were fair, and kind." "Till one day betrayal broke out."
"Every single ruler had died on the same night." "No one
found out how it happened." "They had all
just been found dead one morning, but then they saw traces of star sheen, and the kingdoms went
after the star palace." "There was a traitor found inside. They tried to take the traitor into custody, but
it turned out he had many helping him with the murders. They escaped, and created their own clan."
"The shadow clan, so the other kingdoms decided to create a treasure that would bring all their
power together, and protect it." "A crown with all their most precious gems." "This crown already had
the first gem in it." "The moon opal gem, but you must find the rest." "Good luck Luna of the wolves,
and with that the wolf had jumped out of the tree, and disappeared." "I climbed down, and looked
around." "I tucked the crown tightly in my arm, and took off back to my house." "I pulled on the door
handle, so, so, so hard that it finally came open. I ran to my hideout, and put the crown in place. I
wondered what I was going to do. I sat on my bed and stared up at the gloomy night. There was not
much of a moon in the sky. I went to the window by my bed. I supposed I looked like an average girl.
Average height. Purple very long curly hair that faded to silver. I had bright blue eyes, and the only
thing that was strange about me now was my ears, and tail. Two wolf ears were sprouting out from
the top of my head, and my tail was on my lower back. They were both purple, and black. I knew
what the wolf said meant that I had to find the rest of the gems alone. With no help, and no one
following behind me. That's what I thought. That's what I hoped would happen, but I was so wrong. I
decided to look at every single book I had in my secret hide away, and I finally found the legend that
the wolf had told me about. It had many, many legends in it, but the legends had no new information.
Until I flipped all the way to the back of the book. It was a
blank page, and I was thinking about
casting a spell to ask for help, but then I accidentally spilled water on the page, and writing
appeared. I looked at the soden page with disbelief, and read what was on it. A map. It had a map
leading to the crystals. The nearest one that I would find was the water gem, then the fire gem, then
the sun gem, then the magic crystal, then the geode crystal, then the air crystal, then the earth
crystal. then the light wolf crystal, then the ice crystal, finally the star crystal, so the first place I had
to travel to was the lagoon on the water's edge. I had never been to the lagoon before, because my
parents, and Sunny said "it would be much too dangerous." Since I'd never swam before, and they
didn’t want to teach me. I thought of the water not with fear, but with curiosity, and maybe that had
been what had scared them. They have never wanted me to try anything new, or exciting, so maybe
this would be an adventure for me, so as soon as I knew where the lagoon was I had been off! I
stepped out onto the cold dark Luner street. The street that I had always walked on at day time, but
never at night. I looked around and everything looked so terrifying, so bright but dark at the same
time. It felt unnatural. I walked down the streets, and
heard a low cackle. I didn’t want to look behind
me, so I just kept walking faster, and faster. Then I heard it. I think my wolf ears had picked up
something behind me. Footsteps. Loud clear foot steps directly behind me getting faster, as "To get rid of the animals."
like I was alone. I was not alone . I stopped, and turned around. The girl Dusk was there, and this
time she had her sharp blades out. I stepped back in fear.
"What do you want?" I shouted. Dusk just stood there, and laughed as she shook her head, and said
"I am from the shadow clan, and you aren't going to be able to get those gems."
"If I have anything to
do with it." "I could get rid of you right now, but it doesn’t seem very sporting of me, so I’ll wait and I
will be patient." "You get a head start, so run."
Chapter 5: The Water Crystal
I ran so fast, and so far that I didn’t even know where I had been going anymore. I took out my map,
and traced my finger along the correct route. I saw that I was actually quite close to the lagoon. I
only had a little while longer to go. I finally saw the water, but when I went to touch it it seemed like I
couldn’t get to it. It was like a barrier was keeping it there
for some reason. I decided to try and go
under. I started to dig down into the ground, but then came to the conclusion that if I dug down
farther the hole would fill with water. I tried to go around the barrier, but it seemed to cover the whole
lagoon. I did know what to do, so I sat down and decided, while I was thinking maybe I could make a
potion to help me. I took out my kit. I got out three glass vials, and poured water from my water bottle
into them, then I took out orchids, lilly’s, and holly leaves. I crushed each plant into a vial, then I put a
big clump of clay in each one. Finally I poured the mixture around the lagoon, and chanted
"Let me see thy secrets all." "Let me stare into thy soul." "Let me nurture it." "Let me fly." "Let me into
the night sky." Suddenly strange flashes of something started coming to me. I fell backwards,
shocked at first, then curious. I saw a person with a long scaly tail. A mermaid. It was royal blue, and
black. She carried something in her hands, and placed it on the ground, then the barrier seemed to
disappear. I tried to focus on what the thing was. It looked red, and wet. There was blood on it, but
not just blood. Something had a small drop of blood on it. I was so confused, but then I saw it. I
looked in her hands, and saw a fire opal with a drop of
blood on it. Sadly I’d only seen a fire opal
once, but then it got crushed to pieces by a boulder. I had been in a large cave looking for crystals
for a spell, when I saw a beautiful gorgeous fire opal, but then as I was about to pick it up I stepped
on a strange stone and I heard a click. Click. Click. Suddenly a bolder had fallen, and that was the
last time I’d ever seen a fire opal. However, maybe I could find one nearby. I heard there were many
caves near the lagoon, so I set out in search of one. I noticed the ground was mossy, and wet, but it
wasn’t near water at the moment. Has anyone been here before? I wondered. I went into the cave,
and spotted the crystal immediately, but then I noticed something strange. A string. A long thin string.
I threw a pebble at it. and an ax came swinging at it. Then I heard the voice.
"Gatcha!" It was Dusk again. "I gave you time to run." "Guess what?' "Times up!" I jumped into the
cave, and knew if I just got that fire opal to the barrier I would be safe there. I jumped for the opal,
and grabbed it quickly, but it seemed that there were so many more traps. I tried to dodge them best
I could, but I knew I wouldn’t make it out completely unharmed. I felt sticky blood on my hands. I
remembered the mermaid having a drop of blood on the
fire opal, so I dropped a bit of blood on the
opal. Suddenly as I was walking out I heard a wretched screech. Then it was continued by a thud!
Thud! Thud! I ran back in to see what had happened, and I groaned loudly, when I saw that Dusk
had been hit with a boulder. I groaned, because I knew that I wasn’t no matter how hard I tried... I
wasn’t going to leave her there, so I saved myself the trouble of arguing with myself, and just picked
her up. Surprisingly enough she was light, as a feather. I took her all the way back to the lagoon.
She had basically been completely run over by the boulder, but she was still breathing. Her heart
was also still pumping.
"Okay I said to myself. "First things first." "Figure out what to do with Dusk." I went to some nearby
tree’s, and finally found willow, and meadow-sweet. They were known as pain killers, so I had to find
a way to fix the bones that had been broken, so I gathered all the plants and materials I could think
of, and got to work. I placed the meadowsweet into Dusk’s mouth, and helped her swallow it. Then I
remembered the oldest spell I had ever seen. I took out my wand, and tapped Dusk’s head with it.
Then I chanted "
Release the sick." "Release the pain." "For pain is something no one should gain." "Let this person
be healed tonight, and take a strand of my hair of mine." When I finished I could only hope that it had
worked, then I placed the fire opal down next to the barrier. It opened instantly, and I ran inside
taking the opal with me. I didn't want to risk it closing on me. I saw shimmering water, and stared into
it. I saw that it was clear, as was the sky. I thought that I saw something glowing at the bottom. I
stuck my head in, and knew that I’d have to dive in to get it. I took a long deep breath, and dove in. I
saw my skin start changing. I freaked out, but then I remembered that I was a wolf. I turned into a
small wolf with blue fur, and silver eyes. I noticed instead
of having a regular wolf tail I had a fish-like
tail. Like a mermaid. It was green and teal, and it was very shiny. Then I remembered I had to get
that water crystal, but something stopped me. I felt it dragging me down, and all I could do was
struggle. I looked down to see the mermaid who had come in here originally. I kicked at her, and
came as close as I could, then chomp! I bit down on her arm. She let go for half a second, and I
didn’t waste my opportunity. I dove, and grabbed the crystal, and then I submerged from the water. I
was gasping for breath. My fur changed back to skin, and I was me. I was a normal girl again. I
turned the crystal over and over in my hand. Examining it. The color was aquamarine, but when I put
it into the water it turned purple, and royal blue. It felt so fragile. I placed it gently into the crown the
mysterious wolf had given me. The mermaid came up from the water, and said
"I am Ruby the guardian of this lagoon." "Give me back this crystal at once, or you are stealing."
"Only the holder of the crown may have the water crystal." I nodded, and pulled the crown out. The
mermaid gasped, and said
"How did you get in?" "Without my permission though?" I
told her that I’d just used a fire opal. She
shook her head, and said
"What did you do to have the lagoon let you in?" "Not only do you sacrifice blood, but you save
someone by doing it." "Who have you saved?!" I backed up, and said
"Well I kind of saved the girl named Dusk." Ruby choked on her spit, and said "But she is from the
shadow clan." I shrugged, and said "Well I couldn’t just leave her there injured." Ruby let out a small
giggle, and said
"Okay, okay!" "You have convinced me." "You can take the crystal, but before you go come with me.
I need to show you something. I followed her to a cave, and looked around in wonder. It had
beautiful carvings in it. Carvings of strange symbols. Then I remembered some of them as symbols
on the crown that the wolf had given me. Then I saw Ruby pull something out. she said
"I should have seen it sooner." "A very, very, very, very, very long time ago like let’s say three
hundred thousand years ago there was a prophecy." "It was of a werewolf who would come, and
collect all of the crystals of the crown, and each one of the guardians of the crystals were given two
gifts." "One for themselves, but one for the werewolf,
and I suppose that since you have been given
the crown that this is yours." She took out a shiny piece of crystal. It was a rainbow crystal, and
again it was very shiny. I took it, and said "What is it?" Ruby smiled, and said "Well there is a legend
that after the kingdoms made this crown they made one last crystal that united them all." "It was said
to be the exact opposite of the shadow clan's, but honestly I don’t see why we blame all of the
shadow clan for something that only one member did." Ruby said thoughtfully. She handed me the
crystal chunk. I nodded, and said
"What should I do with Dusk?!" Ruby just smiled walked
out of the cave, and said
"I hope to see you soon Luna." Then she dived into the lagoon. I stood there puzzled for a few
moments before deciding to go outside, and face Dusk, but once I got out of the lagoon, and out of
the barrier Dusk was gone. Not dead, or hurt. She had just disappeared, but I did notice a small note
on the rock. I picked it up and read
"Dear Luna I suppose I owe you a favor now, but I will still be following you and hunting you." "This is
just in case I can’t stop you." I am the only one who knows the shadow language. This is our full
alphabet. It may seem small, but we have many ways of saying this word. “Lindoramlyil Pickleiklyikl”.
Then the note ended. I gathered all my things, and decided that it was time to find the next crystal.
The fire crystal. it was in fire heaven. Along the east coast of Hawaii. How was I supposed to get
there?! I thought to myself, but then I saw a pattern of letters. I read them aloud "L-A-V-A L-O-V-E
R-I-V-E-R?" huh. I thought, but then snapped!
Chapter 6: The Fire Crystal
I felt so dizzy there were so many colors spinning around me. I vomited several times, and finally I
closed my eyes, and hoped for the best. When the
dizziness stopped, I felt that I could stand on my
feet and opened my eyes. I was on a beach. How did I get here?" I wondered. Everything seemed
blurry. I didn’t remember anything that had happened before, or what was happening now, then it all
came back in a flash. I gasped, and sat up. I looked at the map. I was in Hawaii somehow. I didn’t
even mean to end up here, but somehow I did. Just by reading what was on the map. I looked
around, and I thought it would be an amazing idea to climb to the top of a nearby hill to get a better
view. I was so, so, so, so wrong. There was someone waiting for me on the top of the hill. It was
Dusk. I walked up un-eager to see how she was going to try, and kill me this time. She was sitting
down, legs crossed. Eyes closed. She seemed to be focusing on something. I walked in front of her,
and waved my hand in front of her a few times before realizing that she had absolutely no idea I was
there, or so I thought. I say this, because a few moments later her eyes flung open, and she yelled
"Duck!" She pulled me to the ground, and got the wind knocked out of me. Then as I was about to
get back up I saw an arrow shoot right in front of me. I screamed, and backed up. Dusk looked at
me. A smirk on her face, and said I guess we're even
now. Then she got up, and ran leaving me
alone. I stood up, and finally saw it. The volcano I was looking for seemed so strong, and giant, and
huge compared to me, or Dusk. I saw a small lean figure on top of the volcano. I squinted to get a
clearer view.
"Holy guacamole!" I said to myself. It was a girl with a bow, and an arrow pointed directly at me. I
had no time to think, or breathe, or do anything other than get away as fast as I could. I mixed a
potion all the time while running, and tried my best to run around the volcano pouring the mixture
around it, as I chanted.
"Let me see thy secrets. Let me stare into thy soul. Let me nurture, let me fly. Let me into the night
sky." Then all the flashes came back. It was an image of a centaur climbing up the volcano, and
placing a staff into the ground with a fire lily attached to it. Except ghost orchids were only found in
the lava river that followed downstream into a pit of rocks, sharp objects, and some nine tailed fire
foxes. I was absolutely terrified, but I had to do what I had to do, so I started a short trudge to the
lava river. I felt so much sweat on my back, and as I was walking I thought of Dusk. Why had she
helped me? She said
"it was to be even.", but last time I checked she wanted me dead. I just didn’t understand, but
honestly maybe it would be easier without Dusk hunting me anymore. I got to the lava river about
thirty minutes later. I hadn’t even realized it had taken so long. I got a weird feeling inside me like
someone was following me again, but I turned around and didn’t see anyone else. I guessed that the
heat was getting to me, but my arms stiffened a little bit after that. When I got to the lava river I tried
to see where the fire Lily was, but it was so foggy. Then ZAP! My eyes started hurting like madness.
I opened them again, and tried to see through the pain. It was a completely different way of seeing.
Everything was large, and small, and zoomed in at the same time. Everything was a strange color
too, then I saw it. At the very end, when the lava river would start careening down. There was a fire
lily. Just sitting there. Waiting for someone to come and take it. I took a deep breath, walked a few
steps back, and thought to myself what am I doing? Then the moment of truth happened. I jumped.
(I literally jumped into a pit of steaming hot lava.) The second my feet hit the lava it started burning
very badly, but somehow I wasn't sinking into the lava.
Suddenly fur started to come on me, and I
had turned back into a wolf. Except this time my fur was neon red, and glowing of ash and dust.
Then my paws stopped hurting. I was slowly and carefully walking across the lava, when I heard a
small coughing in the distance. I turned around to see a nine tailed firefox. She was limping and her
fiery red fur was becoming gray and losing its power the foxes paws started burning up, and sinking
into the lava. I wanted to help, but I knew I couldn’t do it.... As a wolf. I turned back into my human
form, and jumped onto a rock. I was burned so badly, but I couldn’t let that stop me right now. As I
was touching the lava I grabbed the fox and pulled her up onto a rock. I quickly got out all the water I
had packed for the trip, and dumped it on her. Then I touched her fur, and slowly took several deep
breaths. In, and out. Then I chanted something that was forbidden for me to chant.
"Let this life be saved." "Let this life be." "Let me go into the dark, and find a way to save the start."
"Nine tailed fox you will be spared." "As long as I may prevail." When I finished chanting I was pulled
into a strange blanket of darkness, and coldness. As I tried to calm my mind I remembered the
details of the spell were that I had to create some sort of light. It would be tested against the
darkness. All I was given was three sticks. A bucket, and crushed leaves of a weeping willow tree. I
knew what to do, but it scared me horribly to do this. I took off my wolf amulet, and took it in the palm
of my hand. Praying, and hoping that this would work. I squeezed the amulet as tight as I could, and
broke it apart. Inside of it was a small moon stone. I took it out, and put the three sticks in an L
shape. Finally I put the bucket on top of the sticks, and the moon stone. The last thing I whispered to
myself. I put the willow leaves on top of the bucket, and
there was a glint of light. Then a squeak,
and everything went dark again. The bucket, willow leaves, sticks, and moon stone had
disappeared. All that was left was a small round ball that looked almost like a miniature moon. It
started to glow, so bright that it blinded me. I picked it up, and said I wish in the darkness. Everything
started to fade away, and I saw my wolf amulet start to reform. I looked at it in amazement, and
when I saw that I was back to the lava river I looked at the nine tailed fox. She nodded her head at
me as the color started to come back to her. She bit something. and handed it gently to me. I gasped
realizing it was what I had wished for. It was a set of armor. It was a purple shining purple. With neon
white markings like a wolf on it. I gently stroked the nine tailed fox. Then she licked my hand, and
jumped back into the lava leaving me back to my mission. I jumped onto the lava and came back
into my wolf form again. I reached the point where the river took a drop into a pit of rocks. I carefully
picked up the fire lily.
"uggg!" I screamed, as I put the fire lilly into my hand. It was enchanted to burn anyone for life who
touched it. I stared at my burnt hands, and closed my eyes. I never tried to heal something like this
before, but I was willing to give anything a try. I ate a piece of lemon grass, and imagined the burn
fading away. I opened my eyes, and the burns had all started healing. Even the one on my hand. It
started to feel less painful. I ran back to the volcano as fast as I could, and I could sense that the
archer was there. I turned into my wolf form, and dug my claws into the cold stone of the volcano. I
climbed upward for a long time, until I reached the top. An arrow came flying out of nowhere, and
pinned me to the ground. I struggled to get out, but nothing seemed to work. The fire archer came
close to me, and pointed her arrow right at me. I closed
my eyes as I waited for the blow to come,
but then I heard it. The growl of a nine tailed fox. I opened my eyes, and saw the fox transform into
its true form. It grew to the size of a house, and fire started to pour off of its nine tails. It growled at
the fire archer, and the archer set down her bow. I took my chance and grabbed the fire crystal. It
had specks of black in it. I gazed at it, dazzled by it, then I remembered there was still a crazy archer
after me, so I put the crystal into the crown and ran forward to explain why I was there.
"My name is Luna!" I shouted, "and I can explain why I
am here." "If you don’t try to kill me."
"Okay?!" The fire archer lowered her bow, and in a low rumbling voice said
"I am sapphire." "The guardian of the fire crystal." "Why are you trying to take it, and how have you
turned my nine tailed fox against me?!" I took out the crown I had, and showed it to her. I then took a
deep breath, and said
"A wolf gave this to me, and sent me on a quest to collect all the crystals of the kingdoms." The fire
archer looked stunned. I popped the crystal into the socket on the crown, and she said
"The only way you could have had nine tails attacked me
was if you somehow saved her. How was
she in danger?" "What happened to her?!" I told Sapphire that I had seen her nine tailed fox, as I
was trying to get the fire lily. I also said that she was injured. Then I told her that nearly all the color
had drained out of her. I took the fire lily out of my pocket, and handed it to Sapphire.
"This is a gift to you ma’am." She carefully took it, and said
"How is it not burning you?" My hands had their black, and red fur on them when I noticed. I gasped
and turned them back to normal.
"I’m sorry ma’am." I said. "I’m a werewolf, and somehow
my form just kind of adapts as I travel from
place to place." The archer nodded, and said
"In that case a young one will come with me." I followed her to a tunnel she took out another piece of
the sparkly rainbow gem, and said
"I assume Ruby already gave you one piece?" I nodded, and she said "Well then I have one more
thing for you." She took out a hand carved wolf crystal made out of purple fluorite. She handed it to
me, and said
"Take good care of it." "You might need it one day." I nodded, and thanked her. She smiled shyly, and
said "Go on now." "I sense that someone is awaiting you
outside." I let puzzlement come onto my
face, and she came over and kissed my forehead.
"Young one, I thank you for saving nine tails." "Now trust me and go outside." I was about to thank
her when she jumped into lava, and disappeared. I held my breath as I came outside. I was shocked
to see Dusk, and someone else. It was Sunny! She was holding a knife to Dusk's throat. Dusk
gulped, and I felt awful for not seeing that Sunny would obviously follow me. Sunny said
"Luna, stay still." "Don’t worry." "I’ll do it, you don’t have to." "Just look away." I saw Dusk's angry
face. She didn’t look afraid. She looked like she had pure hatred in her eyes, but not for me. For
Sunny. I realized what I had to do.
"Wait Sunny!" I said.
"I do want to do it, but let me do it where no one else can see." Sunny nodded, and gruffly tossed
Dusk to me. I took Dusk into a corner where no one else could see. Dusk yelled at me, and said
"I saved you, and you're going to do this now?!" I shook my head, and cut off Dusk's ropes. She
stared at me in confusion. I said
"Just take my hand so you don’t get killed!" I grabbed Dusk, and I counted to three.
"One, two, three!" "Run now Dusk!"
Chapter 7: The Sun Crystal
I ran as fast as my short legs could take me. I heard Sunny calling after me. I knew I could never
outrun her. Suddenly I realized I was a wolf! I could transform, so I did. I turned into my wolf form,
and ran as fast as I thought speed could go. I finally ran far into the woods. I fainted on the ground
from exhaustion. When I woke up I saw Dusk staring into my face. I screamed for a moment not
remembering what had happened, and then I relaxed. She pulled me to my feet,
"So the next crystal we need to get to is the sun crystal." I
said, "And to do that we literally need to
reach the sun." "Do you have any ideas, Dusk?"
"We?!.." Dusk asked in confusion. "Um yeah." "I just saved your life, so now I need you to help me
find these crystals." "Are you going to, or not?" I asked. Dusk nodded her head, and said
"Yeah fine I guess." "Whatever!" I smiled, and said
"Okay great." "Do you have any ideas how to reach the sun without dying, or maybe just how to
reach the sun in general?" she smirked, and said
"Well I guess I could maybe help you." "Plus I have lots of practice running away and doing jobs for
people." I smiled weakly, and said "Please don’t kill my sister." Dusk smiled, and said
"Okay fine." Then she said
"There might be a way to get up to the sun." "Do you know what a Liloboat is?" I shook my head,
and she cackled.
"You’ll love this!" She took me to a river, I looked around and said
"Are you crazy?" "There’s absolutely nothing here!" She smiled, and said
"just wait for it......" "Now!" Suddenly a giant boat like contraption came flying out of the water. It had
the base of a boat with the moon carved on it, but it had strange trees growing on it. They seemed to
be lifting it into, and up in the air. I gazed at it amazed. It was basically completely black, and had a
long pathway of stairs leading up to it. I looked at it in astoundment, then I said
"How will we breathe once we get to the sun?!" Dusk said
"Well I guess that part is up to you." I held my finger up like I was about to say something, but then I
just let my breath out, and said
"Nevermind." She chuckled, and said
"Aboard you go." I got aboard, and looked around. It wasn’t very fancy. It just looked like a normal
boat aside from the tree’s that were lifting it, and the blackness. I said
"It’s very modest..." "I’ll give you that!" Dusk rolled her eyes, and said
"Just watch this." She took hold of my hand, and placed it on a wooden door. Suddenly the whole
boat seemed to look like a bubble. It was transparent, and looked like a rainbow. I said
"This looks so amazing, but where am I going to get all my materials to work?"
"I don’t have much here!" Dusk sighed, and said
"I’ve never shown this to anybody, but it doesn’t seem like I have much of a choice."
"Come on." I
followed Dusk into a room that looked like it was a place where the maps were produced. However
the maps looked a bit odd.
"What are all these maps?"
"They looked so much different then our maps that we have here." Dusk smiled wickedly, and said
"Well I’m glad you asked." "You see, the maps I make here are theoretical." "I believe there are
many unexplored magical planets yet to be found, so I’ve made maps to search them out. To find
everything I would need on those planets.
"Anyways back to getting you materials." "Come in here."
I followed Dusk to an open room filled with
collectable items that I’d never seen anywhere on earth. Maybe one of a kind crystals, and plants.
One crystal caught my attention; it was so neon purple and neon yellow. I couldn’t take my eyes off
it. It was also shaped so strangely. Like I am yin, and yang symbol almost. Dusk sighed, and said
"If you really like it that much you can have that one." "I have one more of them."
"Are you sure?" I was very surprised. She nodded, and said
"It’s the least I can do for you to save me."
"Well you didn’t have to do this." I said. She shrugged,
and said
"Get to making that breathing spell, or we’ll be doomed for sure." I nodded, and got peppermint
calendula, and chamilien out. Along with l apadite. I put the leaves into a strong tea, because the
taste would otherwise be very bitter, then I put the crystal inside the tea for one minute. I decided I
would chant to make the spell stronger. I sang
"Breath oh breath we need you be." "Please come oh." "Come please come, you see." "For we, for
we need you to see." Then I chanted one more time for
good luck, and added a few clovers while
saying it.
"Just one more thing for good luck." "Let us let us get the hook." Finally I put the leftover materials
back where they were, and gave the tea to Dusk, as I drank the mixture she said
"Does this thing have a time limit?" I shook my head, and replied
"If you want the spell to end you have to chant this. I wrote the words on a small slip of paper. She
nodded, and said
"Better get comfortable this will take awhile, but you can still talk to me while I drive." "I am good at
multitasking." An interesting question suddenly crossed my mind.
"Are you a magical creature kind of like me?" I asked. Dusk’s face went dark, and she responded
with
"You could say that." Her skin changed from brown to completely black, and she was seen through.
"I’m a shadow." she said, "but I’m alive." "I’m just a little bit different, then what people imagine most
magic creatures as."
"
I understand." I said. "How’s your home life?" Dusk took
a few minutes to think about it, and she said
"Well you see I’ve been living on my own..." "Well kind of." "I mean I live on the lifeboat, but I take on
missions for the leader of the shadow clan." "That’s also why I’m called the assassin." "That’s my
whole job." I suddenly blurted
"Why didn’t you kill me when I first met you?!" "It doesn’t matter who gets in your way does it?!" "I
mean if there’s an obstacle you face it right, or am I mistaken?!" Dusk sighed, and said
"I don’t enjoy what I do Luna, but I’ve pledged myself to doing this."
"Why would you do that?!" I asked. Dusk said
"It’s considered a horrific deed if you don’t pledge yourself." "You have no one." "No family, but I
didn’t kill you because when I saw you I saw a girl like me." You seemed kind, and had a good heart,
and you were a girl that was different from what the shadow clan had told me." "That’s why I didn’t
kill you." "Now my turn." "How is your home life?" I told her all about Sunny, and my love of magic,
and wolves, and how my parents didn’t want me to follow my dreams, and how they didn’t come
looking for me but Sunny did. Then Dusk asked
"Why didn’t you leave me there when I was hurt?" "You
could have." "Why didn’t you?" I sighed, and
said
"I just don’t believe that anyone no matter what they’ve done deserves to die, and since you didn’t
kill me I didn’t really have anything against you..." "Yet." "So I just felt like since no one else was
going to help that I had to." Dusk scoffed, and said
"You sound so much like my friend Kiki." "She was just like you." "She was so kind, and brave, but
was too trusting of people." "She went to help her enemy who had just fallen down in battle, because
he had broken his leg, and she didn’t want to leave him like that, so she went to help him and when
she did he stabbed her in the back." "I watched it all but my commander held me back." "He literally
held me to the ground until it was over, so I just knew that I had to be strong enough so that would
never happen to the people I loved again."
"Wow." "I’m so sorry that happened to you Dusk, but I promise if I have anything to do with it nothing
will ever happen to you, or your loved ones again." Dusk smiled, and said
"Hey look we’re almost there, and it seems like your spell is working pretty fine, but I have to ask, are
all of these guardians going to try and kill us?" I nodded my head, and said
"Yeah probably." We hopped off the lifeboat onto the sun. I thought I would start burning up, but my
wolf form came in, and streaks of yellow came across my fur. While the other parts of my fur turned
white. Instead of Dusk burning up she just turned into a shadow. I suppose it was easier that way. I
found the hole that we were suppose to go in, and poured my mixture around it chanting
"Once more let me see thy secrets all." "Let me stare into thy soul." "Let me nurture it." "Let me fly."
"Let me into the night sky." Tick! Tick! Tick! A sound started to come into my ear, and then bang! It
happened. The blackness filled my eyes, but soon faded away to show me what I believed was the
sun guardian. She held
a small orb of light. It wasn’t a crystal, but it also wasn’t glass. It seemed like it was alive. Suddenly it
turned red, then orange, then yellow, then green ,then teal, then purple, then rainbow, and finally it
turned black. I saw everything started to zoom out. It zoomed out to an old place. It was made of
rock, and glowed with gold. It looked like a place on the map. I could get to everything. came back to
reality, and I said
"Dusk I know where to go first." "We need to find the orb
of light, also Dusk I need to tell you
something about the spell...." "That I just realized." "Yes the spell won’t wear off, but.... we could be
stuck here forever if we don’t get off this sun soon..." Dusk nodded, and said "Yes.. yes... ummm."
"WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!" "You think to tell me this now?!" she shouted. I laughed
hysterically, and said
"I guess we gotta get going then Dusk." She sighed, and said
"Fine let’s just get this over with." Dusk, I traveled to the old stone place. There were pillars. There
they each held what looked like old very, very old
artifacts. A voice boomed loudly, and said
"If you want the orb of light you must choose right." Dusk looked around and I just stood still
examining every small detail just to make sure I wasn't missing anything. Dusk cracked her back,
and then said
"Stand back Luna." I raised an eyebrow, and Dusk said just "Do it." I stood behind her, and Dusk
closed her eyes. Her shadow form flickered suddenly strangely. I bit my lip, and hoped Dusk knew
what she was doing. Then all the light in the world seemed to just stop. To just disappear. I let out a
long deep breath, and tried to call out to Dusk. Suddenly
Dusk started saying some.... Interesting
things. It almost seemed like she was chanting. "Venus, moon, mars, and mercury.
"Bring together to form the third of curing." "The sword of death." The dagger of darkness." " A statue
of healing, and with light...." Then she reached for a small dagger. "You’ve chosen wrong." said the
loud voice. I gasped, and the strange voice came down as a creature. It growled at Dusk, and
pushed her to the ground. Then it started sucking all the life out of her.
"Wait!" I shouted. "You can take me instead." "It’s my
fault that Dusk is here, and I asked her to
come." Instead of her tak me please." "You can take me." The strange creature said "Well if you
insist." I whimpered, and squeezed my eyes closed, but right as the creature was going to suck the
life force out of me I opened my eyes, and smirked
"gotcha!" I said. In a sing-songy voice. Then I kicked him hard in the snout, as I turned into my wolf
form, but it seemed as if I had grown so, so, so much taller, and bigger.
"Hop on!" I shouted to Dusk, but she wasn’t moving. She was just standing there shell shocked.
"Oh come on Dusk!" "Really do I have to do this right now?!" I ran back, and grabbed her with my
teeth, then I threw her onto my back, as we ran it seemed like Dusk had awoken out of her shock.
She said
"No Luna!" "What about the orb?" "Oh crud!" I said, as we came to a halt. I told Dusk to get off, and
that I was going back alone. Dusk grabbed me, and shook me."
"What is wrong with you Luna?!" "I’m an assassin." "I know how to fight you don’t!" "Well you almost
got eaten, and I’m like ten times bigger then you right now, so get off!" The second she got down I
bolted toward the terrifying creature. I growled. He growled back, then he pounced on me, pinning
me to the ground, but I bit his paws. Then threw him. He went flying forward. Just as I was about to
knock him out Dusk just had to come. Dusk said
"Luna duck, I'm going to finish this creature off."
"No!" I shouted. "No you're not! Listen, I know he’s an enemy creature, but he’s just doing his job
protecting the light orb, and we can’t hurt him." Dusk rolled her eyes, and said
"Fine, but at least get the orb then." I nodded, and turned to the creature.
"Please sir, will you give us one more chance to find the
item you need?!" The creature nodded, and
I looked at Dusk, and said "Well it’s your time to shine." Dusk took a deep breath in and out then said
"Okay." She dug her hands into the ground, and the soil around her. She started moving, but in an
interesting way. It seemed like she was almost dancing. Then Dusk started singing or chanting I
guess. I decided to help chant along.
"Take my breath, and in return give us what we deserve." "In this dusty decrepit place give us light
that’s cold not faint." "With this blood that the earth
shares." "Give us what we need to share." When
Dusk stopped small shadows seemed to start moving around working together to bring down a
sword. The shadows brought the sword to the creature, and the creature in return handed us the orb
of light. I yelled out in excitement, and then we decided to go to the hole that we were to get the
crystal from. I set the orb down, and let out a long breath before I sat down. Dusk put the orb down,
and then sat down beside me.
"This is kind of hard for me to say..." Dusk said. "But I would like to know why your upset." I said
through stained teeth.
"You're really struggling to ask me what’s wrong?" I said. Dusk yelled at me on accident and said
"I’m sorry, okay." "I’m trying. It's been a long day." I smiled warmly, and said
"Okay, okay I’m sorry too." "Now I guess I’ll tell you what's wrong...." "I’m maybe a little bit scared
that my sister will be mad at me." I said. Dusk nodded, and said
"She probably will be." I gave Dusk an annoyed look, and she said
"Let me finish, but if she’s a good sister then she’ll get over it and she’ll forgive you." I sighed.
"I know." Dusk’s eyes grew wide, and said
"Out of the way Luna." She pushed me to the side, and a sword came swinging at Dusk. I pulled
Dusk out of the way, and said
"Thanks." Dusk smiled, and said
"Yep!" Suddenly the sun guardian came out. She looked like she was the strongest of all the
guardians so far. Dusk looked down.
"Luna, do you trust me?" Dusk asked.
"Yeah now I do." "Why?" I asked. Dusk said
"Then you have to do exactly what I say."
"Okay" I said. Dusk went into her shadow form, and I
went into my sun wolf form. Dusk jumped at
the sun guardian, and grabbed her arms. Her arms started to turn to stone. "What are you doing?" I
yelled. Dusk said
"I’m taking care of her."
"No, no, no!" I thought in my head.
"Oh Dusk you're gonna be mad at me for a while, but I can’t have you killing anyone!" I took out a
crystal I had and threw it at Dusk's head. I rushed to Dusk and performed a simple healing chant to
make her head heal fast.
"Healing, healing let me know." "Healing, healing let this go." When I finished I saw the sun guardian
standing inches away holding a sword at my throat.
"Who are you?" The sun guardian asked.
"My name is Luna, and I have come for the.....," but the sun guardian cut me off, pushing the blade
of her golden sword closer, and closer to my throat.
"I am Amethyst." "The guardian of this crystal." "You will not get the sun crystal," said Amethyst.
"If I may I said almost choking, because of how close the sword was. I pulled out the crown I had,
and said
"I was given a mission to get all the kingdom's crystals, and put them in this crown." "I’ve already
visited two of the kingdoms." "I was told something
horrid was coming here to hurt the kingdoms, so
I’ve come to get the crystals, and save the kingdoms." Amethyst interrupted, and said
"Show me your gifts from the other kingdoms then." I pulled out the two small chunks of crystal, and
the wolf crystal made of fluorite. The sun guardian gasped, and said
"You're telling the truth, young one?" I nodded, and she said
"You have the light orb?" I nodded, and gave the light orb. The sun guardian's cold expression
turned to a warm smile.
"Then follow me, but allow me to take care of this one." She cracked her knuckles, but I got in front
of Dusk panicking, and said
"Miss if you may allow it please don’t kill my companion." "She has done some wrong things, but she
was just trying to help me." I said.
"I understand." Amethyst said. Then she said
"Well?" "Pick her up, and bring her along." I got Dus
I got Dust up, and carried her into the hole. I set her down on a rocky hot bed. Amethyst said
"Take the sun crystal, and use it with care." "It can light the darkest hearts of despair." "Thank you." I
said I was secretly thinking that I preferred the moon
over the sun, but I realized they both needed
each other to work. I picked up the sun crystal. It was sparkly, and shiny, and then I noticed it was
singing my hand. I put it in the crown. The crystal was dark yellow. Bright yellow, and all the yellows
in between. It looked almost like silk string being stung back, and forth through the crystal Amethyst
gave me the other chunk of crystal, and said
"One more thing darling." She pulled out a smaller orb of sunlight. It was purple, and teal intertwined
looking almost like yin, and yang.
"Thank you." I said.
"No thank you." she said. She started to evaporate into
the sky, when Dusk woke up. She was in a
bit of a fuss. She backed me into a wall, and took out her dagger.
"Traitor!" she yelled. 'Whoa, whoa, whoa."
"Calm down." I said. "You were going to kill the sun guardian, and I had to stop you."
"Now I got the crystal, and I’ve been waiting for you to wake up, but we have to get out of here
quickly." "Before we’re trapped here forever." I said.
"Oh.... right." "Okay fine!" Dusk groaned, then she let me drag her to the lilaboat. we got on, and took
off. The next crystal we were finding was the magic
crystal.
Chapter 8: The Magic Crystal
The place to go to find the magic crystal was the temple of wisdom. We needed to get there as fast
as we could, because my sister was following us, and she wasn’t far behind. We traveled as fast as
we could, but it wasn’t fast enough to get us to the temple before Sunny found us. Dusk bit her lip,
and said
"This would be so much easier if she had a full crew working with her. I jumped up, and down with
excitement, and said
"What if I helped get the lilaboat working faster." Dusk laughed out hysterically, and said "You try to
be a member of a crew on my lilaboat?!" "Yeah right Luna." I felt a wave of fury bolt through me, and
I stepped in front of Dusk.
"Yeah I’m being serious." "How can I make this boat move faster?" Dusk sighed, and said "There’s
no way I can keep you from doing this can I?" Dusk asked.
"Nope!" I said triumphantly.
"Fine." Dusk said. She was obviously annoyed.
"Raise the sail, and watch out for any rocks, or monsters, or even worse your sister."
"Yes ma’am!" I said. I took out one of Dusk’s telescopes, and looked through it. I didn’t see much
other than some mountains, but then there she was.
"Pick it up NOW DUSK! I Roared.
"Why?" "What’s wrong?!" Dusk shouted.
"She’s here!" I said. "She’s here."
"dang it!" Dusk said. "Okay... Well hold on tight ." said Dusk.
"What are you doing Dusk?" I asked. "I'm about to crash the lilaboat." Dusk replied.
"Wait WHAT?!" I said. "You’ll kill us!"
"That’s why you need to hold on tight." Dusk said. I
grabbed onto the side of the boat, and squeezed
my eyes shut. I squeezed as tight as I could.
"Oh NO OH N OH NO OH NO!" I thought. As we crashed down hard onto the ground. My head was
spinning, but at least I was still alive. I slowly opened my eyes, and saw Dusk. She was standing up,
and she said
"Let’s go Luna." I nodded, and she helped pull me up. I followed her to the mountain that we needed
to go to. We had to go all the way up.
"Is the temple all the way up there at Dusk? I asked. Dusk nodded, and I gulped. Oh great, just great
I thought. What have I gotten myself into?
"How are we supposed to get up there Dusk?!" I asked. I had a hint of panic in my voice. "Calm
down." Dusk said.
"Just take my hand." "Okay?" said Dusk.
"Okay." I said. I knew that she was going to get me up there, but for some reason when I took her
hand it made me blush a little.
"ummmm.." I started in my head.
"Luna get a grip!" Dusk said. "You have to trust me, and do exactly what I say." "Okay?" "Yes okay." I
said. "I will."
"Good!" she said, "because I know you're going to freak
out." She went into her shadow form, and
started to float upward.
"What are you doing?!" I asked. "I’m a shadow."
"I can fly, you know." Dusk said.
"Well I know now." I said. "Although how do you know that I won’t fall?" I asked. Dusk looked down,
and said
"I didn’t know, but thanks for trusting me!" I looked at her, and I thought I was going to yell at her, but
instead I just let out a loud sort of a half laugh half sigh. Then said
"Dusk's so weird." Dusk smiled, and said
"I know." When we landed on the mountain Dusk said
"You know the drill princess." I smiled, and took out the potion. I poured it all the way around the
monk temple, and chanted
"Let me see thy secrets all." "Let me stare into thy soul." "Let me nurture it." "Let me fly into the night
sky." When I stopped the flashes came once again, but this time there was something odd about
them. It was blurry. Very, very blurry, and it hurt to see this. Then I realized it must be Sunny trying to
block my spell. I focused so hard that tears came to my eyes. I could finally make out the picture of a
ring. It was pure gold with intricate markings in the lines that spelled the word
"Bane, Ellie." The ring was in the shape of a blue dragon, and had a blue diamond in the center of its
eye. One of the monks in the temple was wearing it. It took me far along to the edge of the mountain,
and I saw that Sunny had the ring. I groaned loud enough for Dusk to hear.
"Okay what's wrong now?!" I looked down at the ground, and said
"Sunny has the ring we need." Dusk laughed out loud, and Dusk said
"There is no way you can sneak past Sunny."
"I know." I said, "But.... are you volunteering to do it for
me?" Dusk grumbled, and said "No, just don't
get killed."
"I won't." I said. I found a path that led to the farthest edge of the mountain. I spotted Sunny not too
far ahead. I took several deep breaths, and whispered to myself
"Luna you got this." "Just act normal." I walked over to Sunny.
"Hi Sunny." I said. "Hey." she said.
"I know why you're here." she said.
"You do?" I asked.
"Yeah you're here for the ring, but I stole it, so I'm keeping it." Sunny said.
"Sunny, I'm going to ask you one time to hand over the ring." I said. Sunny laughed sarcastically, and
said
"Or what?" I glared at her, and said or
"I'll challenge you to a duel." Sunny smiled, and said
"But Luna don’t you know my magic is so much stronger than yours I've had years of practice as
well." I gulped, and said
"Maybe, but... I've always loved wolves more than you." I said. Sunny frowned and said "So be it
Luna but I'm warning you." She turned into a black, and green wolf ten times larger than me. I
transformed into a wolf with bright neon purple fur
fading to a midnight black shade with white stars
in my fur. I was much smaller than Sunny, and that gave me the advantage of being faster than her.
She came running full speed at me, and knocked me to the ground. She was about to bite me, but
then I let out the loudest howl I had ever heard, and it started to snow. I looked around confused, but
then I saw the snow start to freeze my sister into an ice block. right before she became completely
encased in ice I grabbed the ring, and chanted to the snow.
"Let the wolf freeze till night, then let her break, and bite the ice." "Let her do this till the moon of
light." "Then let her free to run and roam." I made sure that the ice would melt by night time, then I
heard the horrible sound of cracking ice. "Oh no.." I whimpered, then I ran as fast as I could. Sunny
was darting through the tree’s toward the temple. I could hear Sunny’s loud claws following close
behind me. She was hot on my heels.
"DUSK!" I shouted. "PLEASE DUSK!" I saw Dusk appear right in front of me and grabbed my fur. I
felt woozy when I looked up again. We had been teleported back to the monk temple. I gasped for
air, coughed loudly, then I flung myself into Dusk's arms.
"THANK YOU!" "THANK YOU!" "THANK YOU!" "THANK YOU!" "THANK YOU!" I cried. Dusk looked
around uncomfortably, and said
"Ummm what are you doing?"
"Uhhh nothing!" I said. I pulled back, and said
"Not again!" "Look Dusk!" As Dusk turned around to see Sunny in her wolf form charging toward us I
started pounding on the door begging for them to let us in. Finally the door snapped open, and a
hand pulled us inside. Right as Sunny was about to attack us Dusk, and I looked up to see the monk
that had originally had the ring. I took the ring out, and asked "Is this yours sir?" The monk stared at
the ring in shock. Her slowly took it into his palm, and asked
"Where did you get this?" Me, and Dusks faces both turned pale, and said
"from her." We pointed outside at Sunny. The monk nodded, and said his name was "Bane Dario." I
introduced Dusk, and I to the monk, then asked him
"Are you the guardian of the magic crystal?"
"That is me," he said.
"We need it, and I can prove to you I have the crown." I pulled it out, and showed it to him.
"Yes I know who you are, Luna, but your sister Sunny has committed a terrible crime." "In fact it’s
treason for what she’s done, so I can't give you the crystal till she is dealt with." the monk said.
"What will you do to her?" I asked. The monk said
"At sunrise if she is captured she will be turned to stone." I gasped, and said
"What if you.. take me in Sonny's place?"
"WAIT WHAT?!" Dusk shouted. "You'll be killed." Dusk said in a pitiful tone. I smiled at Dusk, and
handed her the crown.
"It’s your turn Dusk." Then I went over to the monk, and said
"I'm ready."
He took me to an old room that looked like it would have a witches altar in it, but instead
there was a stool.
"Okay." I said,
"But you have to promise me that you wont hurt Sunny if I do this!" I said.
"You have my word." The monk said. I sat down, and smiled a sad smile at Dusk, but Dusk just sat
there as if she’d been punched in the gut. I felt the cold stone start to creep its way up my leg. I
slowly felt coldness start to overcome me. I closed my eyes, and waited. I expected there to be
darkness when I opened them, but I just saw Dusk.
"Um, am I not dead?" I asked. Dusk shook her head, and said
"No, you passed the test." She smiled, and ran over and hugged me. Then she said
"You should probably get that crystal now." I nodded, and said
"Yeah that's a good idea I suppose." I went over to the monk, and he said
"Good job young one." "I believe you’ve earned this." He handed me a purple, and rocky brown
crystal that was cold, and hot at the same time. I was about to walk over to Dusk when I noticed
something weird. I looked in the mirror, and saw I didn’t
have a shadow. "Ohh..." I said.
"I understand now."
"He wasn't turning me to stone, what he's doing is testing me. I took the crystal out of my hand, and
said
"I'm sorry this seems like a really cool life, but this isn't my life."
"I have to go back to my world." I threw the crystal against the ground so hard it shattered
everywhere. I suddenly came back to reality, and saw Dusk crying she was sitting next to me stiffly,
and just as she was about to leave I said
"I didn’t realize you liked me." Dusk gasped, and ran back. Then she took her dagger out, and
pointed it at me.
"Don't ever I mean ever do that to me again Luna!"
"I won't." "I won't." I said. Dusk sighed, and then the monk came in. Dusk threw her dagger at him,
and said
"You almost killed her!"
"That wasn't exactly the plan." the monk said. Then the monk smiled warmly at me, and said
"May we speak alone."
"Yes." I said. I nodded. He took out a chunk of the other crystal pieces I'd been collecting, and also
gave me the real crystal. It was midnight purple with real phoenix ashes inside; they were black, and
orange, and formed the shape of the majestic bird. The rest of the crystal was black. I put it into the
crown, and put everything away. Then the monk said "In case you ever need something to remind
you to come back to reality take this." He took out an old silver coin with a unicorn on the front, and a
clover on the back.
"Thank you." I said.
"You're welcome," he said. He then put his hand on a pot of clay, and he suddenly turned to stone.
"Wow." I said.
"Come on Dusk we have to go." "Sunny’s going to be coming after us soon." I said.
"Fine." Dusk said. She grabbed my hand and teleported us back to the crashed lilaboat. "So how are
we going to travel now?" I asked.
"Oh right about that.." Dusk cackled. Dusk took out a small air pump, and snapped her fingers. In ten
seconds the lilaboat blew back up.
"Why didn’t you do that before?!" I shouted.
"Oh must have slipped my mind." Dusk said in a wicked voice. I sighed, and said
"Wait up Dusk." The next crystal we had to find was the
geode crystal, and it was in the old echo
caves. It was said to hold strange creatures, and mysterious deaths happened there all the time.
Dusk laughed, and said
"Sounds like my kind of place."
"Let’s hurry it up then!" I said.
"Okay okay." Dusk laughed.
Chapter 9: The Geode Crystal
We landed near the caves, and made a plan to stick together since it was rumored that many people
would get lost in them. I made a small charm to be able to see each other in the dark. I had taken
two four leaf clovers, and wrapped black ribbon around them, as I chanted
"Glow all night." "Glow all day." "Glow in the dark." "Glow in sun rays." When I stopped I told Dusk
that the charm would only glow in the dark. Dusk understood, and said
"Okay let's make a map of this cave." I had taken a few pictures of the cave from the outside to let
Dusk see how big the cave was. She made a mental map, and then drew it out on paper,
"So you take this one, and I'll take this one." Dusk said.
"Wait." I said.
"What about the guardian who’s protecting the crystal?" I
asked.
"Right..."
"Dang it!" Dusk said under her breath.
"Okay you know what I have an idea."
"Since the guardians have all been humans, what if you made a spell to repel humans." Dusk said.
"Uhhhh, okay.." I said.
"That's going to be a weird spell, but I'll try." I eventually made a potion. It was made from lime, and
lemon drops, and a few tads of Marigold.
"Alright drink this." I said. I quickly drank it all in one gulp, since the potion was quite bitter. Dusk
almost threw up, when she drank it.
"This is disgusting." Dusk said.
"Yeah I know, but it's what you wanted
me to make it." I said.
"Okay, okay, okay I get it." Dusk said. I poured my normal potion around the cave, and chanted
"Let me see thy secrets all." "Let my stare into thy soul." "Let me nurture it." "Let me fly." "Into the
night sky." The flashes of darkness came so slowly I thought I'd done the spell wrong. When
suddenly I saw a deck of Tarot cards, but they looked strange. They looked different. They had red
glitter on their edges, and they glowed an amber hue. It
showed that they could be found directly....
Behind us? It showed a strange clay bottle holding the tarot cards. I turned around to see there was
a giant clay bottle there.
"Ummm Dusk?" I said. Dusk turned around, and said
"Luna did you do that?" I shook my head, and said
"We need a deck of Tarot cards from inside that clay thing."
"Okay ." Dusk said. Then Dusk shrugged, but I was surprised to see a flicker of
recognition when she looked at it. I didn't want to be nosey, but I decided to try and find out if she
knew what it was.
"Dusk have you heard of this thing before?" Dusk hesitated for a moment then quickly said
"No I've never heard, or seen that before." I opened the door to the strange clay bottle, but before I
went in Dusk grabbed my arm, and said
"Maybe.. maybe I should go in first."
"Why?" I asked.
"Um, because it could be dangerous." she smiled a weak fake smile. I sighed, and said "DUSK!"
"What aren't you telling me?" Dusk looked at the ground said
"Promise you won't tell anyone about this if I tell you."
Dusk said.
"I won't.." I said.
"Fine, follow me." Dusk said. Dusk opened the door, and led me to a painting of shadows. They kind
of looked like Dusk.
"What is this?" I asked. Dusk looked at the painting, and said
"This is where the assassin shadows get tested to see if they can go on their first mission."
"It only works on shadows." "It shows their worst nemesis, and you can guess what we had to do." "It
wasn't real ofcourse." "It was fake, but the assassin shadows that failed got punished severely." "I'd
rather not say what they did to them." Dusk said. I put my hand on Dusk's shoulder, and hugged her.
"I'm sorry Dusk, but its over now." Dusk smiled, and said
"Yeah you're right... It's over." "Then I said
"What do Tarot cards have to do with this place though?"
"Everyone in the shadow clan assassinates, or not gets to choose a Tarot card when they've had
their job chosen." Dusk replied.
"Oh..." I said "I see."
"Do you know where you might find them at Dusk?" I asked. Dusk said
"uhuh I know where you'd find them."
"Follow me." Dusk took me over to an old dusty desk with work papers, and books.
"Alright come on Dusk!" I shouted.
"Coming one minute." Dusk said.
"Okay, but don't take too long." I shouted back to her. I walked out glad to be away from all that sad
negativity. Then suddenly.... snap! I heard Sunny's paw break a loud branch from a tree.
"Sunny, get away from me." I said. Sunny replied with
"Luna, wait just one second." "Okay Dusk isn't who she says she is."
"Yeah right." I scoffed. Sunny said
"You have to believe me Luna." "She's going to do something bad to you."
"I don't trust, or believe you Sunny!" I shouted. Dusk came out, and I grabbed her arm quickly
pulling her into the cave. I put the Tarot cards down, and raced inside.
"What was that all about?!" Dusk asked.
"Sunny." I replied.
"Oh I see." Dusk said.
"Our charms started to immediately glow.
"Wow." Dusk said, as she stared dazzled at the charm. I looked at mine as well. It was a bright teal
light blazing from the clover. "Alright I said.
"Let’s do this Dusk." I waited for her reply.
"Um Dusk?" I looked around, but saw that I had already lost Dusk.
"Okay." I said to myself.
"You can do this."
"You can do this, you can do this Luna." I walked forward, and looked around the pitch
black making it hard to see, and my charm seemed to be dimming almost. My eyes flutter open, and
closed. I knew what this was. This was a sleep spell. I assumed that the guardian was casting this
spell. "I have to stay awake." I whispered to myself. I took
out a sack of Lilly and put it in each nostril.
"Alright." I whispered to myself.
"This will keep you awake, but now take out your map, and navigate." I walked along the path that
the map had on them crossing everything off, as I went along finally I came to the last place that was
on the map. I saw the crystal, but I also saw Dusk. I turned into my wolf form in case this was a trap.
I was black pitch black, but I could tell there was something more. I used my wolf form to hear more,
then I heard the sound. The horrible sound that had always made me cringe when I was a little. I
heard a nasty sploshing, and heard something crawling
up the wall. It sounded like bird chirping, but
in a very unpleasant way, but I had made sure that the guardian wouldn’t be able to come near us
with that spell I made. Unless the guardian wasn’t human... I came closer to Dusk, and almost threw
up. Dusk had been knitted into a slimy cocoon that was the color of brown, green and red snot, and
was hanging in a spiderweb knocked out cold. I was drenched in
I was sweating when I saw this but I couldn’t just leave Dusk, and I needed that crystal, so with a
trembling breath I called out.
"Hello?" My voice echoed all around me. Taunting me, as
if to say that no one was there, but I knew
better than that, so I took a deep breath, and howled at the top of my lungs. My fur began to glow a
blinding light, and it lit up making everything go black for a few moments. Long enough for me to
spot it. The guardian was a long spider. The spider was black and gray and had brown sticky spots
on its back. I gulped, and said
"If you're too cowardly to talk to me, then you must not be a very good guardian." I knew as soon as I
said it that I would be dead, but it was a great distraction, because I was an illusion. Okay.., so pause
before we came into the cave. I thought that it was odd that there had been no animal guardians yet,
so I had made a plan to create an illusion of myself, so I could keep watch of everything. It seemed
the illusion was supposed to keep Dusk busy, but also keep the guardian busy. As the long hairy red
green yellow, and blue spider ran toward me as an illusion I put on a pretty good chase I will say, but
anyways
Once the spider was chasing the fake me I pulled Dusk down from the cocoon, and unwrapped her.
She looked so frail, and weak I put my strongest witchcraft to work. I’d only heard of tales of great
beasts like these. They were said to drain all the strength, energy, and almost all the life out of its
prey. Dusk had taken a bad number of hit’s, and life was draining. In fact at first I thought she was
dead, but I checked her heartbeat and it was very slow. I was too slow, but it was beating, and then I
began to work. I took out lemon oil, and onion grass. I put the onion grass with lemon oil, and
covered Dusk head to toe with it, then I cracked my knuckles. This was going to take a while. I drew
a white line around us, an obsidian crystal, and most of the back half of the cave. The line was a
barrier to keep everything outside the barrier out, but
anything inside the barrier could come out. So
once I knew that we were protected from the spider I took out peppermint, and chameleon. I crushed
it up, and put it into a cup of boiling water. I blew on it, and chanted
"Once day is broken, and night returns curses be burned, and weavers return." "Energy comes back
to thy, as long as thy doesn’t die." I finished, and sat Dust up, so she could drink the tea. Once I did I
could tell that Dusk was already regaining color to her face. I let out a sigh of relief that I didn't
realize I was holding, and went for the crystal. It was as the name implies a very small geode. It went
in rainbow order, but out of order kind of. It went purple, teal, green, yellow amber, and scarlet. I put
it into the crown, and the crown glowed a white hue. I turned into my wolf form, and decided to leave
all of my stuff in the barrier along with Dusk, and I would confront the guardian, and try, and explain
who I was. I found her growling, and chattering her loud ragged spider teeth. I said
"Let me explain who I am before you try and eat me please." The spider turned around waiting, and I
showed her the crown. The spider made a chirping sound, and drew a name in the dirt.
"Webs."
"Huh how original." I said. Suddenly the spider became a small spider that was shiny and
completely black much less intimidating. The spider beckoned me to follow her, so I did. She took
me to a painted part of the cave, and took out the chunk of crystal everyone seemed to give me,
then she turned around and coughed something up.
"Bleh I thought in my mind." The object was covered in slobber, and spit. I cleaned it off a bit, and
picked it up. It was a small golden statue made out of pure gold. In some places it was worth
millions. My face lit up, and I thanked the spider
guardian.
"Webs thank you a million times ma’am!" "Thank you!" "Thank you!" "Thank you!" The spider
chirped, and walked off. I went back to the barrier to find Dusk glaring at me. "Hehe." I said.
"I’m sorry I didn’t know a spider was going to take you, but I worked really hard to make sure you
didn’t die!"
"I mean...", but Dusk put her hand up, walked out of the barrier, and just handed me my bag.
"Come on." she said. "We have to go." she said it in a soft way. A sweet way. A way I’d never heard
her talk before, and I couldn’t help thinking how much I
liked Dusk maybe more than a friend.
"You coming?' Dusk shouted to me.
"Yeah I am." I said. "It’s just she is so kind to others even if she doesn’t show it like most people.
She’s brave. She’s strong. She’s adventurous. She’s loyal. She’s everything I’ve dreamed about in a
person. I went back outside to see Dusk looking at Sunny with a state of utter hatred.
"Dusk what’s going on?" I asked. Dusk looked at me, and said
"Luna I’m sorry." Then I felt a wave of electricity blow through me. I fell to the ground, and saw
Sunny growling at Dusk, and then she too fell to the
ground before I blacked out I saw Dusk whisper
"I’m sorry."
Chapter 10: The Foul Odor Of Betrayal
When I woke up I saw Dusk sitting outside my cell door snoozing away. I smiled at how adorable she
looked, but then I remembered that she had hurt me, and my sister. She had locked me up. I felt
something strange happen. I felt white cold hot rage running down my spine. I shivered. I felt my wolf
form taking over without me even intending to do it. Dusk woke up, and stared at me. I was jet red,
and...., and my fur was fuming with the scent of old
copper. I was larger than usual now. I was about
the same size as Sunny would be in her wolf form.
"How could you?!" I roared. Dusk stood there frozen in place.
"I...I ... .I" then she let out a cry of despair, and fear at the same time. I rammed into the cell door. I
rammed, and rammed, and rammed. Until... it broke open. Dusk backed up, and looked up at me for
the first time ever with fear, then she looked down at her dagger confidence returning.
"Luna I don’t want to do this, but I will if you don’t get back in that cage!" she took out her dagger,
and flung it right next to where my head was.
"Luna, I'll ask you one more time to step into the cage." Another wave of even more anger and this
time hate filled me. It just kept getting larger, and larger, and larger. I did not go back into the cage.
Instead I stepped forward right next to Dusk. "I’ll ask you Dusk.." I said.
"What the heck did you do to my sister Sunny?!" Dusk jumped on top of me, and reached for her
dagger, but I easily flung her back against the wall. Dusk had gotten the air knocked out of her. I
trugged forward, and raised my paw ready to attack her, but then I lowered it, and changed form to
human. I sat on the ground, and said
'What are you doing with us, Dusk?' I asked.
"Was any of it real?" "Did you ever really care about me?" "Or was that fake as well?" Dusk sat up,
and said
"Your crown is going to be destroyed!" I felt tears sting my eyes, and I said
"So all that stuff about protecting me, and being my friend was a lie!" I shouted.
"No..no." "It wasn’t." Dusk said. Dusk was clearly holding back tears, but I didn’t care. "You're awful!"
I said.
"You're awful, and I hate you!" "I should have known
Sunny was right!" I should. "I should have
known that all shadow clan members were awful lying rats!" Dusk looked down at the ground, and
said
"I didn’t want to do this, but you leave me no choice!" she raised her dagger above my head, and
slammed it down. I put my hands above me as protection, but then she struck and she cut the
chains off my hands.
"What?..." I asked in surprise.
"Leave." Dusk said, "And take your stuff." Tears started forming in her eyes and slowly went down
her cheeks. She handed me my bag, and crown.
"Sunny’s in the last cell." "I should get going." Dusk said.
"Wait I yelled after Dusk, as Dusk turned to leave I ran up to Dusk quickly, and said "Thank you, ans
for the record I don't hate you." Then I used all the courage I could and
kissed her on the cheek. As soon as I did I bolted, and I sprinted away to find Sunny, while Dusk just
stood there in shock. I found Sunny, and ripped open the cage, then grabbed Sunny by the arm.
"Come on Sunny!" I shouted. Sunny looked up shocked to see me.
"What happened to Dusk?" she asked. I smiled, and said
"Dusk let me out." Sunny stopped running, and said
"Luna, do you know what happens to shadow members that betray their clan?"
"No but you don’t have to worry, because no one knows." I said. Sunny pushed me, and started
shaking the life out of me, then said
"No you're wrong." "They do know." 'They have shadow cameras that every shadow member knows
about."
"They're going to do something bad to Dusk." Sunny said.
"What?.." I whimpered. Sunny said
"It’s going to be okay, but you have to come with me."
"Okay?" Sunny used the same tone that Dusk did when she saved me from the fire archer.
"No Sunny!" I said.
"No!" Then I said
"You’ll forgive me later I hope!" I threw pomegranate seeds mixed with a very strong scent of
lavender. It was a sleep potion. It burst on Sunny, and she fell asleep instantly. I ran all over the
prison till I found another shadow like Dusk. I turned into my wolf form, and pounded them into a
corner.
"Where is Dusk?!" I spat. Spit went flying from my mouth. The prison guard whispered "She’s being
held in the candle room until they decide her punishment is."
"Show me NOW where she is!" I growled at the guard, as they led me to the
“candle room”. When I saw Dusk I felt so horrible for her. She was tied to a chair. Chains were
around her neck and tape covered her mouth. Her eyes were whirling around wildly.
"Dusk!" I yelled."
"Did they hurt you?!" Dusk let me hug her, and I ripped the tape off her mouth. Then Dusk said
"I told you to leave!"
"I couldn’t leave you here!" I said.
"Now come on, let's get you out of here!" I untied Dusk, and turned into my wolf form letting her jump
on my back. As we ran out I shouted
"Dusk grabs Sunny." I howled. Dusk quickly picked Sunny up, and we ran as far as we could until I
heard the blaring sirens go off!
"Oh crap!" "That awful guard must have warned the other authorities that Dusk had escaped!
"Alright, we have to pick up the pace!" Dusk blurted.
"I know! "I know! I snapped. I took some deep breaths, and said
"Okay we're heading to the air crystal next, do you know
where that would be Dusk?" I asked. Dusk
nodded slowly, and said
"We have to get to the hot springs." "It’s said the springs of water will shoot off up into the air, and
there is the kingdom of clouds." "We can most likely find the crystal there!" "Okay." I said.
"I understand." "Dusk thanks for not leaving me in that cell, and I promise this is for your safety!" I
said.
"Wait what?!" Dusk said, but before she finished I threw her far away into the tree’s. (Good thing I
made her invisible, and gave her a soft landing potion before.) The potion had been in her water
anyways. I had to get going. Sunny would wake up s
oon, he asked me so many questions, and I wasn’t ready for all of them. Now all I wanted to do right
now was get to the hot springs, and find the air kingdom, but just as I suspected all the guards came
rushing out running after me, and I assumed these were all the assassin shadow guards. I kept a
fast steady pace with Sunny still clutched in my mouth, but the guards were catching up! I knew I
had to lose them... fast! Sunny suddenly woke up, and saw the guards chasing us. I tossed her up
on top of my back, and Sunny said
"What in the world did you do?!" I chuckled softly, and
said
"Opp's I’m sorry but I couldn’t just leave Dusk there!" "Now I need you to tell me how to get away
from these weird shadow people!"
"Okay." Sunny said. "Your going to need to jump as high as you can, and reach the
tree’s."
"Okay." I said. I got a head start, and jumped. I fell off the tree, but my claws got stuck in the
branches. I hoisted myself up, and said
"Okay now what Sunny?"
"Now you're going to run on top of the trees till we get to
the hot springs." Sunny said. I gulped, but
nodded.
Chapter 11: The Air Crystal
I ran on the tree’s crunching leaves, and fell short of a tree a few times, but all I could do was keep
going because if I stopped the shadows would catch us! That would probably be the worst thing that
could happen. No not probably it would be very, very bad. I finally made it to the hot springs, and
untransformed.
"Alright." I said. "We have to jump on the springs, and
water will shoot out of them, sending us into
the sky."
"Okay.: Sunny said "So what are you waiting for Luna?"
"Well...." I started.
"Well what?!" Sunny asked.
"Well, when the water sends us up we basically have to be able to bounce off the water, and land on
the clouds. Which will be hard, but I think we can do it in wolf form Sunny. When I got on the springs,
and the water burst up I turned into my water wolf form, but Sunny fell right through.
"Sunny!" I yelled. I dove for Sunny, and pulled her up, then I jumped onto the clouds. I was turning
into a cloud wolf. I was pure white with small bits of cloud puffs in my ears. Sunny gasped for air, and
I said
"Whoa, whoa calm down!" "Can’t you just turn into your cloud wolf form?!" I asked Sunny. "NO!"
"Every wolf has specific powers!" "Your powers are to turn into a bunch of different wolf types." "My
powers are to be very, very large, and strong." "Strong?"...
"Ohh I said. "I get it." "Now well, then you better hold onto my fur tightly, Sunny." Sunny went into her
human form, and grabbed my fur. I could feel how
tightly she was holding on.
"So where’s Dusk now?" Sunny asked. I cackled, and said
"She's stuck in a forest in the middle of nowhere." "Where no one other than you, or me will be able
to find her!"
"Wow." Sunny said.
"Okay well we’d better go find that crystal."
"Yes you're right, but before we do I have to ask you something." "Are mom, and dad worried about
me since I left?" I asked.
"Well I guess you could say that Luna." Sunny said.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Well um they’ve called all the police you can think of to
find you." Sunny said.
"I’m in so much trouble when we get home.. aren’t I?" I said.
"Yep!" Sunny replied.
"yep." I smiled softly, and said
"Alright let’s find this crystal."
"To get the air crystal we have to go to the queen, bring her a scepter, and then we have to perform
for an audience by dancing, and finally then and only then will she tell us if we can have the air
crystal, or not." I took out the potion I always take out, and poured it around the queen's castle.
(which by the way takes forever), and chanted.
"Let me see thy secrets all." "Let me stare into thy soul." "Let me nurture it." "Let me fly into the night
sky." When I blinked I started seeing where we’d find the scepter. We’d find it with the... wise woman
of the cloud kingdom. We traveled for a long time walking on jagged roads. Sunny, and I hadn’t
expected the trip to be this long. In total it took us about three whole days to get there. When we
finally got to the old wise woman’s cottage we collapsed on the ground in a heap from exhaustion.
"Wow." I said.
"We did it." "We really did it."
"Yes, finally we got to this lady’s house! "Great....." I carefully stood up, and knocked on the door
three times which sounded like a ding, ding, ding. An old woman opened the door. She had short
hair that was gray, but had obviously been pinkish neon red on one side, while the other side was
gray. She had emerald green eyes. Her eyes made me think she was not the kind of woman that
could be tricked easily, so the second she opened the door I said
"Are you a wise woman?" The woman slammed the door in my face, and snorted.
"Is that a no?" I shouted. There was no reply. I jumped
onto the roof through the window, while
Sunny was just standing outside awkwardly since the house was made of clouds. I turned into my
cloud wolf form, and asked again.
"Excuse me, I don't mean to bother you, but I have to ask, are you a wise woman?!" She gapped at
me, and said
"I was the wise woman." "Not anymore."
"Why aren't you the wise woman anymore?" I asked. Curiosity was tickling my paws, "Because I
stole the nut job's staff." the wise woman replied. I stared at the woman with absolute shock.
"Umm.." I said in the calmest tone I could.
"Did you just call the queen a nut job?!" I asked.
"Yeah." "Why?!" she retorted. I simply said
"I was just curious why you think she’s crazy." The wise woman sighed, and said
"Because she wants to contain all the magic of the universe in one magic staff, and that’s why I stole
it." "She was gonna do horrible, horrible things with the magic!" I nodded, and walked over to the
staff.
"Is this the staff?" I asked.
"It is." she said. I took the staff in my hands and broke it with my bare palms. The magic poured out
of it onto the ground, and just like I suspected the wise woman morphed into the queen.
"No you wretched child!" "What have you done?!" The queen screamed.
"I’ve saved wild magic from your cruelty." I retorted.
"How did you know that I wasn’t the wise woman?" the queen asked,
"because your broach is different from hers." I said.
"You little monster." the queen said. "Guards take her away." I looked around, and cackled.
"What guards your highness?!" The queen looked around and it looked like steam was coming from
her ears.
"Mrs Krane." I said as politely as I could.
"Could I interest you in other gifts in return for this sacrifice of yours?!" The queen nodded, and said
"What would you need in return?"
"The air crystal, your majesty." I said.
"Fine.., but I need something so hard to find it’s almost gone." "I need the cloud pendant." "It lies on
top of a communications tower. "It’s very hard to find, and then you must climb to the very top with a
cloke attacking from above."
"What’s a cloke?!" I asked.
"Their nasty bird-like seagull with snake-like tails, and fur
of lions." the queen laughed, and said "Oh,
and if you fail you I will be after your heads."
"Sounds easy enough." I said simply. When I went out, I explained what happened to Sunny. She
clapped her hand to her face, and groaned
"Of course you did that well.." "I guess we have to get going now." She said, We started, and at the
halfway point of making it to one of the communication towers I was wishing we had Dusk’s lilaboats
at that point, but I didn’t want to back down now, so instead I decided to use a spell. I turned back
into my human form, and said
"Alright Sunny I have an idea."
"One minute!" I took out petrified ice catnip, and lavender. I put it on the ground smashed it loudly
while chanting
"Lead us right." "Lead us right." "Into paths, and right tracks." "Lift us up, and take us soon." "To
make us go soon, soon, soon!" As soon as I stopped chanting I grabbed Sunny, and waited for us to
get going. Blast! We zoomed toward the correct communication tower with ice growing into a path
taking us there. It was as if we were ice skating very, very, very, very quickly. When the ice stopped
we were staring at the tallest tower I’d ever seen, but at least there were stairs. However they looked
very well.... unstable you could say. I carefully climbed up the stairs, as they creaked and cracked
back and forth. The good thing was this part of the tower wasn’t made of clouds, so Sunny could
climb them. When I was halfway up the stairs I stopped, and came back down.
"Uh Sunny you coming?!" I yelled. Then it hit me that Sunny was terrified of heights.
"Sunny, I really need your help here."
"Please don’t make me do this alone!"
"There's strange creatures up there guarding the top, and I need your help fighting them off you
know!" I said. Sunny made a sound that sounded like she
was trying really hard not to scream and at
the same time it sounded like she was yelling at me without opening her mouth. Then she took one
step on the stairs, (and in basically two seconds she bolted up the stairs.) I followed her close
behind, and when I finally got up the stairs I fell onto the roof of the tower. I was panting, and then I
saw her. Dusk was on top of the tower. She was covered in mud that smelled like insects, and her
shadow form now looked more brown, then black.
"Umm Dusk... hey!" I said in a hopefully cheerful voice. Dusk took her dagger out, and came running
at me
"Ohh no" I thought, but then she stopped and just pulled me into a hug. (Then I realized that now I
was covered in mud too.)
"Are you okay?!" I asked.
"Thanks to you!" Dusk said.
"Where’s Sunny?" I asked.
"Ohhhh yes.... Sunny."
"She’s trying to steal that weird air pendant over there, and is getting pummeled." "I better go help
her." I said, then added
"Don’t leave!" I said it firmly.
"I won’t." Dusk said. I ran over, and threw my freezing
potion at them, and then I pulled Sunny close
to me, and smirked.
"Just trust me Sunny." I threw the bottle, and fire came all around us. I grabbed the cloud pendant,
and I turned into my fire wolf form, then jumped over the flames. I ran and ran to where I last saw
Dusk, and just as I suspected she was gone.
"Heh." I said to myself. "I should’ve known." "Anyway, come on, we got to go!" I made the worst
decision of my life then, and decided the only way of the tower since it was collapsing was to jump
off the tower itself. So I took a running start, and jumped. I landed, as softly as I could in the water,
and dragged Sunny out. I remember clearly that Sunny vomited after the jump.
"When we get home I'm borrowing Dusk's dagger and me and you are talking!" Sunny said then I
thought to myself
"Oh wow we didn't die!" I got up, and Sunny got herself pulled together.
"You good." I asked.
"I'M FINE!" Sunny shouted.
"Okay..." I said, then we were off back to see the queen. I knocked on the door, and the queen
opened it.
"I suppose you failed then." the queen said.
"Not exactly." I smirked. I took out the pendant. The queen gasped and reached for it, but I clicked
my tongue and said
"Tut, tut, tut." "First you have to take out the air crystal, and give it to us."
"Fine." the queen said, "But afterwards I need you to dance to amuse me." she said. "Fine with us."
I said. I got the air crystal and gave the queen the pendant, then stepped outside. I looked at the
crystal. It was white, but had small storm clouds in it. Suddenly it started raining.
"Huh?" I said
"Interesting." Then I put the crystal into the crown, and it glowed. I went back inside, and said
"Alright, who am I dancing with?" Then the queen smiled, but before she could say anything
someone opened the door, and said
"I’ll be dancing with her."
"What?" me, and Sunny said at the same time. I turned around, and saw Dust walk through the
door. The queen looked Dust up, and down and said
"This is acceptable." Dusk walked up to me, and winked. I felt my face go red, and she smiled
playfully. The queen played the worst song I could think of. Well it was the best song for the moment,
but it made me so embarrassed. It was called "Perfect." Dusk took my hand, and placed it on her
shoulder, then she placed her hand on my opposite shoulder. We walked in a circle until the song
picked up, then Dusk picked me up and threw me over her head, but before I hit the ground I
grabbed her hands, and she twirled me into the air making me land gracefully on the ground finding
my way into a split on the floor. The song stopped with Dusk helping me up. Suddenly all I could
focus on was Dusk, and I knew I was blushing but at this point I didn’t care. Dusk dropped my hand,
and the queen came over.
"That was worth it." She took out another chunk of crystal that went with the broken pieces, then she
handed me a crown of labradorite. I bowed and said
"Thank you your majesty and also I’m sorry that I broke your orb of magic" The queen smiled
warmly, and said
"I’m not the queen." Then she transformed back into a wise woman.
"I just had to make you think I was the queen...", and in a snap I was back outside with Dusk
nowhere to be seen. I walked over to Sunny, and saw her smirking hands on her hips.
"You know if you have a girlfriend you have to tell me these things first girl, so I can protect you" I
laughed, and said
"Yeah I was going to tell you sooner, or later." Sunny smiled, and said
"Come on, I want to show you something."
Chapter 12: The Quiet Meadow
I walked with Sunny till I saw her. A young girl probably the age of sixteen. She had dark chocolate
skin color. Her hair went down in two long strips. It was wavy as if it was a mermaid's hair. She
looked like a goddess. She had a mermaid tail. She was
followed by a small fairy. She had bright
lavender blue wings with glitter, but shined as bright as the moon. The fairy sat on top of the
mermaid's shoulder. I smiled, and Sunny nudged me ahead.
"Go on." she said. I walked forward, and said
"Hello." The fairy, and mermaid turned their heads in my direction, and came over. "Hello, who are
you?"
"My name is Luna." I said, and this is my sister Sunny."
"We see." They both said.
"Okay..." I said "What are your names?"
"My name is Ava." said the mermaid, and my name is Faith." said the fairy. We are map seekers. I
looked up at Sunny, and she made a “I totally don’t know what going on” face. I glared at her, and
pointed my fingers at my eyes. Then the map makers said
"Follow us." I nodded suspiciously, but followed them. They took me to a trunk of a tree, and said
"We’ll be waiting here." I didn’t understand exactly, but I touched the tree, and it sucked me inside. It
started showing me the ten kingdoms.
"Huh how beautiful." I said. There was ofcourse water, fire, sun, magic, geod, air, earth, ice, wolf, star, but
then another kingdom showed up out of nowhere. The shadow clan, but this time it was a kingdom. I
looked at it intrigued. I saw the leader, or king of the shadow kingdom. He was putting on a crown,
and he took out a steel sword. He walked outside of his room, and to an open square of the
kingdom. Many people were tied to the ground. I watched as he walked past them. He came up to
one girl in particular he walked up to Ava, but now she looked like a shadow, and she looked much
younger. He raised his sword in the air
"Umm is he going to kill her?!" I looked away, and closed my eyes. I couldn’t watch, but then it hit
me. Maybe I could help her. Ava shut her eyes, and I grabbed Ava’s hand, and yanked so hard
everything seemed to stop. The memories were gone, and I saw that we were in a hollow tree again.
I looked at Ava, and said
"You alright?" Ava stepped away from me, and asked
"Where are we?!"
"I can explain." I said. I took a long deep breath, and started from the beginning, begging, begging,
beginning.
"Okay so that’s a lot to process." Ava said.
"Okay just listen." I said.
"My name is Luna." "I’m on a quest to renight the kingdoms, and stop the shadow clan from hurting
anyone, but I think you need to tell me what’s going on in your world and you need to tell me why all
those people were tied up."
"Okay?" "I will." she said, "but first, am I in the future?" I shrugged, and said
"I guess so." She squealed with delight, and said
"Okay, okay sit down!" "My name's Ava." "You already know that, but just go with it." "The kingdom of
the shadows has two crystals: the star crystal, and the broken shadow crystal." "Those people tied
up disobeyed the shadow king, because he had asked us
to do horrible things to people, so as a
lesson he was going to show the other shadow clan members what happens when you disobey him,
and I thought I was toast." "Until you came up, and saved me." I sighed, and said
"Will you go back?" Ava nodded, and said
"It's probably for the best that I do, but will you give me a weapon, or two so I can save myself, and
the other people tied up?"
"Ofcourse." I said. I handed her an old dagger, and an enchanted dagger sheath that I made out of
crystal, then I said
"Safe travels friend, and to you as well." She giggled
"Bye." When the vision ended the rest of the chunks of the old shadow crystal came together, and
clicked. I held the crystal in my hand and put it next to the crown. The crown glowed, and a socket fit
for the shadow crystal just seemed to appear.
"Whoa." I said.
"Neat." Then I stepped out of the tree where Ava, and Faith were waiting.
"I think I understand." I said.
"I’m not stopping the shadow clan from hurting others.."
"I’m saving the shadow clan from their awful king." Faith, and Ava smiled, and said together
"The kingdom you seek has many paths."
"If you want to seek, then follow the map." They took out, and old looking map, and handed it to me.
"This is the map of the shadow kingdom?" I asked. Faith, and Ava said
"Aye."
"Thank you." I said.
"This means so much."
"I have to go, and get the rest of the crystals, but when I’m done I promise I’ll save your clan!" I ran
off back to Sunny, and told her everything that happened.
"Yeah I told you that you should come here."
"Yeah, yeah you were right." I said.
"Now we need to get to the earth’s kingdom, but the only way to get through the ground was the
lilaboat, and we don’t have that now." I said gloom was coming to me.
"Oh don’t you?" came a voice. I looked up to see Dusk with the lilaboat.
"Dusk?" I shouted.
"Yep, that's me." Dusk jumped down, and I just lost it.
"Dusk we need your help!" "Please, please, please, please, please!"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah I know, calm down." Dusk said.
"Also have you been following us?" I asked. Dusk
blushed, and said
"Well I had to make sure my girlfriend was safe." My cheeks went bright red, and I said "Uhhh Sunny
what do I do?" I whispered. Sunny winked at me, and said
"You got this!" I breathed in, and my hands unclenched. Then I said
"Dusk I really, really, really, really like you!" Dusk said
"I know." Then she walked up to me, and kissed my cheek. I started blushing, so hard, and ran
behind Sunny.
"Don’t worry Dusk." Sunny shouted.
"She’ll kiss you one day!"
"Sunny!" I screamed. My face lit up red, and fur sprouted from my ears.
"Uh oh." Sunny laughed. I calmed down, and said
"Let’s just go find that crystal."
Chapter 13: The Earth Crystal
I boarded the lifeboat with Sunny, and said
"Now Dusk!" I put my hands to my ears when I heard the horrible scraping of metal on rocks. We put
helmets over our heads, and I drew a circle of chalk around the lilaboat. That would keep it protected
from the rough, and sharp rocks.
"You ready?" I asked Dusk.
"I’m ready." Dusk said. We started digging down into the ground. I looked around at all the rocks
there were, so many geod’s down here.
"Hmmm?" I thought to myself.
"Interesting." Then I saw the largest mouse that probably existed in the world. It came scurrying in
front of us.
"Hello." I said. The mouse squeaked, and cleared its throat.
"Hello." it said.
"Is there something I can help you with?" The mouse
asked. However I didn't think anybody other
than me could understand it, because I had cast an animal communicating spell, and the mouse was
speaking in well... mice language.
"We need help." I said.
"Can you take us to the earth statue?!" The mouse took a moment to think, and said
"If you pass my riddles I will take you there indeed."
"Okay." I said. "What’s the first riddle?" I asked. The mouse chittered it’s teeth, and said "A man rode
in on Wednesday." "He stayed two nights, and left on Tuesday."
"How is this possible?" The mouse said. I thought to
myself, and finally replied
"What did he ride in on?" I asked. The mouse chattered it’s teeth again, and said
"A horse."
"Hm okay.. was the horse's name Wednesday?" The mouse looked me up, and down, and said
"Explain."
"Well if a man rode in on a horse named Wednesday, and it was actually Sunday, then stayed two
days.
"He would have left on Tuesday." "Is that correct dearest mouse?" I asked. The mouse squinted at
me, and said
"Follow me." I told Dusk to take the lilaboat, and follow the mouse. She did. The mouse took us to a
cave that was underground. They looked almost like a place where miners would go.
"I’ve one more riddle for you to solve, and then I’ll let you through." said the mouse. "Fine." I replied.
"What is it?" The mouse sat down, and said
"David’s father had three sons. "Snap, crackle, and what?"
"What was the third son’s name?" I took a moment to understand what the mouse was saying, but
then I understood, and said
"It’s David, because David’s father had three sons." The
mouse said
"Very well the statue is right this way."
"Excuse me sir if you don’t mind me asking, are you the guardian of this statue?" I asked. "No." said
the mouse.
"She is." The mouse pointed upward towards a painting of a young girl who looked much like Faith.
"Is that Faith?" I asked. The mouse nodded, and said
"It is, and if someone were to take the gem out of the statue she would be very cross with them."
"I understand thank you for your help." I said. I poured my potion that I always poured around the
statue, and chanted
"Let me see thy secrets all." "Let me stare into thy soul." "Let me nurture, let me fly." "Into the night
sky." I saw a stand of fur. Werewolf fur. "Uhh I don’t know if I want to do this." I said to myself. Dusk
came over to me.
"Tell me what it is that you don't want to do."
"Huh?" I said.
"I know when something is wrong even if it’s something small." Dusk said.
"The magic showed that I needed to give a piece of my fur to Faith." Dusk's expershion went dark,
and she said
"You should do it. I think Faith is just curious about
werewolves."
"Okay." I said. I transformed into a brown wolf with dirt crumbling off of me. It seemed I could literally
transform into dirt, stone, and a tree.
"Okay." I whispered to myself. I took out a small piece of fur, and transformed back. I held my breath
as we walked inside. I saw Faith, and hugged her. Faith smiled, and said "Darling, how old are you?"
"I’m seventeen." I said.
"I see, and did you get the fur?" She asked.
"Yes.." I said. "I did." I handed it to Faith. I wasn't sure what she was going to do with it. "Marvelous!"
Faith said.
"What are you going to do with it?!" I asked.
"I'm going to keep it."
"You see, magic can be easily destroyed, and if it is, if I have a small sample of the magic, then I
can restore the magic, and save it." Faith said.
"Wow, that's amazing!" I said,
"But I’m still confused." "Why do you need my fur?" I asked.
"I take a piece of everyone's fur, hair, anything like that just in case the magic is destroyed."
"Anyways.." she said "I think you should get your crystal now." Faith said.
"Is it okay with you?" I asked."
"Yes." Faith said. I ran over, and hugged Faith tightly.
"Thank you." I said. "You're welcome." she said. I took a deep breath, and transformed into my earth
wolf form, then I jumped onto the statue. I clawed my way up to the top, and grabbed the eye of the
statue which was the earth crystal. It was an emerald crystal with brown streaks in it. I put it into the
crown, and it glowed green.
"We’d better be off." I said.
"I understand." Faith said.
"I know what you need to do." she said. I hugged Faith
one final time, and started to walk off when I
heard Dusk.
"Wait on the lifeboat for a minute." "I’ll be right there I just need to talk to Faith for a second."
"Okay." I said. I hid behind a wall quickly, and listened.
"Is it going to happen, Faith?" Dusk asked. Faith sighed, and just said
"It’s better to be prepared than not to be." Dusk sighed, and walked off. Faith came back outside,
and spotted me. I was about to say don’t tell Dusk, but she just winked at me, and gave me a nod.
"Why do you call me darling even though your one year older than me?" I asked. Faith smiled, and
said because I'm actually nine hundred and thirty eight years old even if I don't look at it." I laughed,
and said
"Okay I’ll see you soon!"
"Bye Faith!" I jumped on the lilaboat, and drew the chalk line around the lilaboat again to keep it
safe, and everyone put their helmets on. Then we were off. I thought Faith, and Dusk’s conversation
was odd but I didn’t let it worry me. I grabbed the pendant necklace I had on, and held it close to my
heart. Whenever I was using magic it glowed purple. It was a small piece of the moon crystal. The
next place we had to go was the wolf crystal, and to do
that we had to go back to my house.
Chapter 14: The Light Wolf Crystal
When we made it back to my house I bit my tongue and squeezed my eyes shut.
"You can do it." I whispered to myself.
"Sunny what do I do when I go back inside to mom, and dad?" I asked. Sunny smiled softly, and said
"Just bring everyone inside, and follow my lead, but don’t tell them about your crazy crown, or your
powers."
"Okay.." I said.
"Okay.." I took Dusk’s hand, and whimpered.
"Nervous?" she asked. I cackled sadly, and nodded.
"Yeah." I said
"Yeah I am." Dusk lifted my head, and kissed my cheek.
"Don’t be Luna, they'll understand." I held Dusk’s hand in mine, and we went to the door. Sunny
knocked on the door first, and I held my breath while saying in my mind you got this! you got this you
got this Luna! I just kept repeating that in my head until the door opened. It was my mother in the
doorway. She had gray bags under her eyes. She was slumping over, and her eyes were red from
crying. When she saw me she burst into tears, and said
"Oh baby oh my baby I was so worried about you, and Sunny thank you for bringing her home!"
"Thank you so much, and who are you?" she asked, her voice slightly unwelcoming.
"I’m Dusk, and I’m your daughter’s..." I cut her off, and said
"She’s your daughter's best friend!"
"Oh well I suppose you can have her over." my mom said, then she went inside. I stayed outside with
Dusk, and said
"I’m sorry Dusk I didn’t mean to do that." Dusk looked up, and said
"I know how you feel, but please don’t hide me forever."
"I won’t." I said. "I promise." I led Dusk up to my room, and said
"Watch this!" I pulled her into the closet, and pulled the lever. The wall opened up into a door, and I
led Dusk into my crystal/wand/magic room.
"This place is amazing!" Dusk said.
"I’m going to go talk to my parent’s, and come up with a decent story to tell them why I was gone."
"Will you help me?" I asked.
"Of course!" Dusk said. I took her hand, and came downstairs. I saw them smothering Sunny in love,
and kisses. My dad walked up to me, and said
"What you did Luna was very immature."
"You're a very chaotic person, and we think we need to send you away to boarding school." "A
military boarding school." "We think it would be good for you to get discipline." I started shaking
everywhere my face went red, and fur started sprouting from my ears. I couldn’t help it. I couldn’t
stop it. I turned into a werewolf, the red blood werewolf. My parent’s stood there shell shocked, and
said
"Luna, you need to handle this better, and we think you might need to have a reality check." "What’s
real, and what’s fake." I saw Dusk start to tear up, and
she shouted so loud at my parent’s.
"Shut up!" you people are awful parent’s if you can’t see how amazing and creative your daughter is,
and I’m proud to say that she’s my girlfriend you jerks!" My parent’s stood there dazed, and they
started to say they were proud and they did see that, but they thought I needed to be more in
control. Before anything else could happen I grabbed Sunny, and Dusk’s hands and teleported us
outside into the forest.
"Dusk you didn’t have to do that!" Dusk squeezed her eyes shut, and said
"Yes I did." I hugged Dusk, and smiled.
"Let’s go get that crystal Sunny put her hands on her hips, and said
"Luna I’m sorry I didn’t realize mom, and dad would do that."
"It’s Okay I know you didn’t know." I said,
"So where are we going?" Dusk asked.
"I don’t know yet." I said,
"But I do know what to do." I sat down in a mushroom circle, and howled. My fur turned neon purple
with silver strands in it. I opened my eyes, and saw the spirit wolf. I bent my legs, and smirked at
Sunny, and Dusk.
"Try to keep up." I said. Then I bounded forward.
"It’s on!" Dusk said. She went into her shadow form, and followed close behind me.
"Um I’ll catch up with you guys later." Sunny shouted. She turned into her wolf form, but she was
much slower than me. She was still fast, but slower than me and Dusk. I followed the blue glowing
spirit wolf and we bounced into a bushel of leaves taking us somewhere I’d never been. We came to
a dark space with nothing in it. Just darkness, then I saw glowing bubbles start to float up and make
a trail, and I knew the wolf was leading us somewhere.
"Luna?!" "Luna?!" "I can’t see anything!" Dusk shouted. I
knew since she wasn’t a werewolf she
wouldn’t be able to see the lights. I took dusk's hand and led her through the woods. I followed the
glowing bubbles to an opening of light. I walked through, and saw wolves. There were millions of
wolves, and moon’s everywhere. Dusk dropped down, and took out her dagger.
"Wait, wait, wait!" I said. I turned into my wolf form, and went up to the largest wolf. "Hello?" I said.
"My name is Luna." "If you wouldn’t mind, do you know who the leader is here?" The wolf pointed to
a lean wolf with bright silver fur, and gray eyes. She looked young, and spry. I bowed to her, and said
"Your majesty, it's a pleasure to meet you." The wolf leader bowed, and said
"Hello my name is Adolphus." "I am the leader of the night pack." My ears flicked up and my stance
shifted to a relaxed stance. Adolphus howled, and then asked
"Why are you here?" I looked straight into her eyes, and told her about the woodland legend. About
how I’d been collecting crystals for the crown, and how I was going to help the shadow clan get rid of
their leader somehow. Adolphus shook her head and said "No." "You cannot have it." "The light wolf
crystal is the only thing that keeps the hurt wolves alive." Dusk came over, and spoke up.
"Um I don’t mean to be rude, Adolphus, but you see if you have injured or sick wolves Luna here is
the best healer I know, and I think she could really help them." "If she does, will you give us the wolf
crystal!" Adolphus looked at me with a curious glance, and said "If you do heal them then yes, but if
you fail to heal them then I think the wolves will need to eat."
"I understand." I said. I gulped, and grabbed my shaking arm. Adolphus led me to an old part of their
forest filled with lavender, and roses. It had almost ten
hurt wolves. It looked as if all the life had
been drained out of them.
"Alright." I said. I cracked my knuckles, and said
"I need details." "What happened to them exactly?"
"What happened was a large beast came out while we were hunting." "It had shadow dripping off of
it, and had brown fur all down its body, then it started to drink the life out of them." "It was a horrible
scene to watch."
"I understand." I said. I gulped, and said to myself
"Luna, you can do it!" Then I started.
"Dusk." I said... "I need a drop of shadow essence." Dusk came over, and went into her shadow
form. I pulled a piece of her hair out in shadow form, and pricked my finger. "Okay." I said. I put the
shadow, and drop of blood into a small bowl and mixed it together, then I took a piece of each wolf's
fur, and put it in the mixture as well. Finally I started to feel the wolves' pain. I closed my eyes, and
walked in a zigzag pattern chanting.
"Life of mine can be shared." "Life of mine can be spared." "Every wolf in the land must have a
chance to stand." "Every creature great, and small lends me power, great, and tall." I saw it was
working, and my hands began to crack, but I knew it wasn’t enough. I dug my hands deep into the
ground and pulled out a tree root. "Give these wolves life, and love."
"Let them dance among the stars." "Life, and death will work at a pace." "Let every creature be at
peace." When I stopped I saw my arms started to crack, and turn to stone, but I just kept repeating,
and kept chanting over and over again. I wasn’t worried, because I knew how this spell worked, and
I knew the only way to save these wolves was for me to go back to the testing darkness. When the
stone completely overcame my body I was back. I walked around the dark room in my mind. The
only thing I saw was a safety pin. I picked it up, and knew what it was saying to do, but I also knew
what would happen if I did it. If I pricked myself with the pin giving my last drop of life to the wolves,
then I myself would die, but if I didn’t the wolves would die. I shut my eyes and pricked my finger
waiting to see what happened. I had a feeling this wasn't the end. Then everything went completely
black. No darkness, just black. The next time I saw light I saw about a dozen wolves gathered
around me. Licking me again. When I sat up I finally registered where I was. I was back with the
wolves somehow. Not dead, and then I realized I was
being licked by a bunch of baby wolves!
"Oh my holy crud." "Oh my gosh!""Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh!" I said.
"You're so cute!" All the wolves jumped on top of me, and snuggled me. I saw Dusk talking with
Adolphus outside the bushel of leaves. When Dusk heard me laughing with the wolves she came
back in.
"Oh good you're awake!" she said.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
"Yeah I’m fine you just gave us all a scare when you turned to stone." I looked down at my hands
and saw they were still slowly unfreezing.
"How did you guys make the stone go away?" Dusk smirked, and said
"Well Adolphus was impressed to see how well you healed the wolves, so she decided to unfreeze
you, and to give you the wolf crystal!"
"She’s waiting outside with it." I hugged Dusk, and said
"Thanks Dusk." Then I got up from the cozy pile of flowers plues wolves, and went to talk to
Adolphus.
"Thank you." I said to her,
"For what?" she asked.
"For unfreezing me." I said. Adolphus nodded and said
"Of course also I see that your stone is wearing off quicker than I expected it to."
"Huh." I said.
"Anyways I think you earned this crystal."
"Here." Adolphus said. I took the smooth crystal in my hand, and examined it. I saw that it was gray
but when I put it up to the moon it turned silver and purple and looked like an opal. It kind of looked
like my wolf fur. Then if I soaked it in the water it became a teal color. I put my forehead on
Adolphus's head, and in the wolf language said
"Thank you, I will be back in the pack soon." I put the crystal into the crown as always, and me, and
Dusk were off in a flash. We found Sunny still trying to catch up to us, so I decided to help her out,
and we just called the lilaboat over to take us on a ride to the next crystal. The ice crystal
Chapter 15: The Ice Crystal
The ice crystal was obviously in an ice palace, but we hadn't expected it to be an ice hotel in
Sweden. It was going to be harder to get there than we had anticipated, because apparently the ice
hotel we were going to was a magic ice hotel. It was guarded by the stone ice warriors. Which meant
they could literally look like ice sculptures, and then
could turn into deadly assassins like Dusk. I
wasn’t sure how ready I was for this. Dusk took out a strange looking broach, and attached it to my
dress.
"Dusk.... what are you doing?" I asked.
"Oh nothing."
"I thought it would just look nice on you Luna." Dusk said. I looked at it. I thought it was pretty. It had
pyrite crystals in it, but it wasn’t the kind of thing Dusk would just do for no reason. There was
something wrong, but I didn’t want to push it on her, so I just went with it since we wanted to avoid
being seen. We were going to travel under the water, and we needed to breathe so I put sand into
nine different bags, and added edible small rock candy to them. Then I put it into a strong lavender
smelling perfume since the rocks, and sand smelled awful. I sprayed it on us, and said
"Get ready to jump in it!" I said.
"This should start working in a few minutes, but listen up."
"This spell only works for nine hours, and it will take about ten to get there, so you're going to jump
on my back since I move the fastest." "Although when we get to this place I might be exhausted."
"Just a heads up, and we should be good now." "Jump in!" We dove into the water, and I turned into
my water wolf form. I lept off the ground of the water, and swam as fast as I could. I could tell we
would get there in about three hour's. However it would be a lot of work for me, so I got my mind
focused and tried not to think about how heavy Sunny, and Dusk were. Instead I tried to focus on
how to get the ice crystal without anyone knowing. forty minutes had gone by, and I had just kept
telling myself to keep pushing, and that I was almost there. When we finally got there I bounded out
of the water, and collapsed on the ground. Even so it was
just my luck that someone had seen me
swimming, and there were ice sculptures all around us. The good thing was that Dusk, and Sunny
were filled with energy. I tried to breathe deeply, and calm my nerves down. Dusk stood in front of
me, and she took out her dagger. The warriors were waiting for us to make the first move, but I knew
Dusk. She didn’t move with action, she moved strategically, and planned out her opponents moves. I
hadn’t seen Dusk use her dagger very much when she was filled with fury. I also knew she was
holding back before, but the final thing I knew was that right now Dusk was on edge, and if she
needed to she wouldn’t hold back. When the warriors figured out that Sunny, and Dusk weren’t
moving they shouted at us to surrender. However Dusk’s hand just gripped the dagger tighter, and
Sunny transformed into her wolf form. The ice warriors broke from their statue stance, and ran at us.
Dusk, and Sunny were doing good defending each other for a while, but there were so many people.
It was impossible to know everyone’s movement’s, and I could tell Dusk was losing her patience.
Then it happened. The thing that would set her off. Someone grabbed me and held a sword against
my neck.
"Fight anymore, and she’s gone." The ice guard said.
"Oh no girl.... what did you just do?!" I whispered. I tried to tell Dusk to calm down, but it was all over.
She went into her shadow form, and easily kicked down every single guard coming toward her. She
was making her way fast towards the ice guard with me. She made it to where I was, and she glared
at the guard.
"If you hurt her, everyone here is as good as gone." I heard the guard gulp, and I knew they were
filled with fear. They still kept their ground anyway though, and held me close to them. Dusk
snapped her fingers, and said
"Fine, have it your way." She stomped her foot onto the ground, and all the color drained out of
everyone, and everything. Everything completely went gray, and bare. The guards fell to the ground,
Dusk clenched her fist tighter, and tighter. When I caught my breath again I ran up to Dusk, and
unclenched her fist. I saw my broach was glowing. I took the broach off, and hugged Dusk.
"It’s okay." I said. The guards all rolled on the ground in pain, and cowered in fear.
"Dusk, remember we need these people to take us to the ice crystal." I went over to the guard that
had been holding me, and said
"Okay hold still this might hurt.." I put the brooch on her outfit, and then broke it in half. The color
returned to everything, and the guard stumbled backward. I remembered the gift that the fire
guardian had given me so long ago. I took out the wolf crystal she had given me, and handed it to
the guard.
"My name’s Luna." I said. "This is my girlfriend Dusk, and my sister Sunny." "The fire guardian gave
this to me, and we’re here for the ice crystal." "We didn’t know that we’d spook you so much the ice
guard looked at the wolf carved crystal, and said
"I’m sorry that we attacked you without knowing what was going on." I said. Dusk came up beside
me with Sunny, and scowled at the guard. The ice guard stepped back a few steps in fear, but I said
"Oh Dusk is cool." "You don’t have to be scared of her." I smiled warmly at her. The ice guard held
out her hand, and Dusk gripped it maybe a little too tight for my liking, and shook it. Then she let go.
"What’s your name?" I asked, as we walked to the inside of the ice hotel.
"Oh my name’s Aisi." "I’ve been training all my life to keep the ice crystal safe." She looked down at
the ground and then pulled me to the side. "I’m not supposed to tell you this, but you have to stay
here for four nights, and each night there will be a trial." "You’ve already completed trial one, but I
think it’s safer for you to sleep in a heavier, guarded room, but I doubt anything will happen to you
while Dusk is around." "Anyways, your rooms are up here Dusk, and I exchanged nervous glances
at each other. As we went into our rooms the door shut, and I saw a small letter on my bed. I
assumed it was on the other girl’s beds too, so I picked up the letter, and read.
"To Ms. Luna. "Room one seventy two." I opened the
letter up, and read. "Four trials to pass on ice,
so think every night one passes, and new begins, but if one were to fail." "Then ice will crack the
ground if all are completed the right way." "Then the crystal is yours from day to day you’ve already
completed the first task." "Next we’ll see the moon’s so big, and fast." I put the letter down, and laid
down. I looked at the door, and read the strangest rules I’d ever heard. "No raspberries on the bed.
"No laying under the bed." "No reading books at first light." "No workers are to complete any tasks
here." It was strange that some of the words were in italics. I read the italic words again. Bed under
first task, but it felt too easy to know where to look. It felt too easy to be able to read the code just
like that, so I walked up the rules, and pulled them down. There was a strange code scratched into
the door. It was wolf language combined with fox language. I could only make out the wolves part. It
said under the new moon howl, so loud. Then I couldn’t decipher the rest of it, because... well I’m not
a fox, but I knew I could find a creative way to fix the problem. I took out a piece of a tiger's eye, and
carved it into the shape of a fox eye. Then I placed it on the fox code, and looked through it. The rest
of the code said "Then dip your feet into the water and
sing the siren song of the sea." I looked up,
and crept through the door to find that Dusk, and Sunny had started walking outside as well, but
something was strange about them. They both have a weird hair pin clipped to their hands. I didn’t
trust this, or them so I tried to be as quiet as I could, and lifted my hand into the air. Then I threw my
sleeping potion at them. They fell to the ground immediately, and I unclipped their hands. They
instantly turned back into ice guards. I thought there was something strange about them, then I
dipped my feet into the water, and howled. I smiled, and sat back singing.
"Water is true, and ice is so strong, let me swim among the stars." "Ice is so strong, and water’s flow
lets me fly among the stars." I don’t need to feel the wind on my back." "I just need to be as still as
the hats, as the hats fly up true they shine and shine and shine." "So true they come back down, and
whisper. "How the sirens used to sing somehow." I repeated this song for a long time until I couldn’t
feel my feet anymore. Then I got up, and dragged the ice warriors back inside. I went to find Aisi,
and asked her where Sunny and Dusk’s rooms were. When I found Aisi she looked at me with a
curious gaze, and asked
"You're already done with your first trial?" I nodded.
"Yes.
Aisi looked in my eyes, and said
"Interesting, but I have to ask what happened to the other ice warriors?"
"I knocked them out and then dragged them back inside." I said.
"Okay...." Aisi sighed.
"Well you’ll find Sunny, and Dusk in rooms one seventy one, and room twenty."
"Thanks Aisi!" I shouted, as I rushed down the hall to find the rooms. I finally found room twenty after
a long hike up the stairs. I knocked on the door, and heard Dusk, and Sunny screaming. They were
shouting.
"Let us out, or Luna will free us!" I chuckled, and looked into the doorway.
"Hey girls!" I shouted over their hollering. They both stopped immediately, and ran over to me.
"Is that the real you?" They asked.
"Yeah it’s the real me." I said. Then they both hugged me, and smiled mischievously.
"Follow us." they said. As we walked Dusk started talking to me.
"So we found this “thing” while we were trapped in our
rooms." When it made it outside they took me
to a courtyard, and I saw a phoenix the size of a horse. It was green, blue, and purple. Sunny, and
Dusk shoved me on, and then they jumped on too. Then it took off. It soared into the sky, and cawed
loudly. I looked below us, and saw icy fields with snow on them falling softly onto the ground. I
looked up, and saw the sun and moon shining brightly. I looked every which way, and saw the earth.
The water. The sky. The fire the wolves. The crystals. The magic. Everything. The phoenix dipped
downwards, and then shot up. It flew forward, and stopped. It started to fall fast.
"Dusk what’s going on with the phoenix?" Dusk, and Sunny laughed. Just then I noticed that they
had a strange hair clip on their belts.
"Oh man!" I said.
"Alright, fine." Sunny, and Dusk turned into ice warriors, and shoved me off, but then I grabbed their
hair, and pulled them down with me. I moved completely on instinct, and drew a circle in the air with
my hand, and made a star in the middle. Then I threw pieces of lotus down, and suddenly we all
teleported down to the ground. When we were all safely there I tied the warriors up while they were
still catching their breath, and I said
"Sorry about this but I can't have you killing anyone." Then I went over to the fallen phoenix. It had
something wrong with it, but I couldn’t tell what. I listened to its heartbeat. It wasn’t slow exactly, but
it wasn’t right.
"A shard of ice in her heart.." I said to myself.
"Okay let’s do this." I said. I took out a blue agate geode, and meditated. I closed my eyes, and
grounded myself taking me into the spirit world. I opened my eyes, and went to the phoenix’s spirit. I
saw the large ice shard making its way to the phoenix’s heart. I slowly reached for the ice shard, and
pulled it out quickly. I gasped, and opened my eyes. I was
back in the physical world, and I had
something in my hand. A crystal, but it didn’t look like an ice shard. It was now a purple shard of
agate, and the geod was sitting beside me. The phoenix began to glow blue, and put me onto its
back and it started to breathe out ice.
"You're not a phoenix." I said. "Even though you have feathers you're not a phoenix." Suddenly the
feathers seemed to disintegrate. It was a dragon. The dragon aimed its icy breath at the ice warriors,
but I got in front of them, and said calmy "These people were just doing their job, you have to
understand that, but now you're free so you should go."
The dragon nodded, but before it left it
dropped a vile of silver goo. It was labeled dragon tears. The dragon flew off, and I was stuck with
the ice guards.
"Okay now what to do with you two?" I asked. The ice warriors tried to cut themselves free, but it
was just a waste of time.
"Okay I think I’m going back inside." I drew a circle with a star in the middle around us, and threw the
lotus down onto the ground. I thought of the ice hotel, and suddenly we were all back inside. I went
to find Aisi again, and said
"Okay I did your two trials." "What’s the third one, and also how do I know that Dusk and Sunny are
safe?!" Aisi groaned annoyed, and said
"Look here." She took me to an icy lake, and pounded on the ice three times then blew on it.
Suddenly Sunny, and Dusk appeared on the ice. It almost looked as if we we’re seeing a camera. I
made sure Sunny and Dusk didn’t have any hair clips on them. They didn’t. They were chained up in
two icy rooms.
"What are you doing to them?!" I shouted. Aisi stepped back, but before she could go anywhere I
turned into my ice wolf form. I was light blue, mostly
white, and I looked as if I were completely made
of ice. The ice around me, and Aisi started to crack. Aisi tried to freeze into her stachue form but I
kept her in place.
"If you hurt them I swear!".., but Aisi cut me off and said
"They're fine and when you complete the other two trials you’ll get them back and get the ice
crystal!" I calmed myself down abit before I spoke. I turned into my human form, and said
"Fine but if you hurt them your hotel is dead." Aisi nodded, and said
"Come this way your next trial will be tomorrow." Aisi took me to my room, and shut the door. I locked
it, and fell asleep. At midnight I slept soundly until bang! My door was rammed open, and two ice
warriors in black masks were there. They came running at me. I turned into my wolf form, and tried
to jump away from them, but somehow they were freezing me to my spot, and I couldn’t move. Right
as they came close to me I howled, and bared my teeth. The second I could reach them I bit their
hands, and instead of a cut ice starting to form on them they started freezing right in front of me. I
knew that if I unfreeze them they would try to harm me, but if I didn’t they would freeze to death, so I
stopped the process, and went into my human form, I
closed my eyes, and dove under my bed
drawing a circle around it, so it made a forcefield around me.
"You can’t hide there forever."
"I’m not hiding!" I yelled.
"I’m just stalling." Suddenly the beeping started, and the bombs set off. Good for the ice warriors all I
had on me at the time was smoke bombs, but it scared them off, and gave me time to run on top of
the roof, and hide there till morning. I assumed this was the third trial, but I wasn’t sure, but then I
saw what was happening. The two ice warriors I had
been fighting were dragging Dusk, and Sunny
to the freezing cold water tied together.
"Those jerks!" I spat. I turned into my wolf form, and lunged forward. I landed near all of them, and I
could tell that this was the real Sunny and Dusk about to be drowned.
"Let them go." I said calmly. The ice warriors said
"Only if you take their place." On the outside I breathed in fake tears, but on the inside I was
laughing my head off. Didn’t they know that I could turn into an ice, and water wolf? I drew a circle
around Dusk and Sunny, and pretended to be miserable, but when the ice warriors looked away I
winked at Sunny, and Dusk and let myself be tied up. Then I jumped in. I turned into my wolf form,
and waited ten twenty fifty hundreds of minutes until finally I saw the ice warriors move away. I
jumped out of the water, and said
"Hey guys!".., but suddenly Sunny, and Dusk disappeared, and Aisi came forward.
"They're fine!" Aisi yelled,
"So don’t freak out, but you have one more trial." I snarled at her, and said
"Fine but this ice crystal better be worth it." One last time Aisi escorted me to my hotel room, and I
felt my bed was freezing so that night I slept on the floor,
and for the first time in my whole journey
here I dreamed. I was sitting at a dinner table with Aisi, but she looked more threatening and
menacing somehow. It was a long table with many pieces of colorful fabric on it. We had five cups in
front of us, and five drinks. Aisi stood up, and in a quiet playful voice said
"This is the last trial which drink is safe to drink." I raised my eyebrow, and said
"Is this a poison test?" Aisi smiled, and in a sing songy voice said
"This isn’t time for stalling time to have some fun, fun,
fun, fun all day!" I saw each cup had a flower
on it. Nerium oleander, Bloodroot, Calla Lily, Foxglove, and Lilac. The only flower on here that was
edible was Lilac so I took the Lilac cup, and just as I was about to drink I saw a note on the bottom of
the cup. I read it carefully. It said the only non poisonous is the most poisonous. The Nerium
oleander. I closed my eyes, and drank the Nerium oleander, as quickly as I could just in case, but
then I woke up with Aisi knocking on my door. She looked exhausted, and said
"You finished." "Come on." She took me all the way up to the top of the hotel, and tossed me. The
crystal was a beautiful baby blue color with white on top of it. I put it in the crown, and it glowed.
Then Aisi gave me another part of the shadows clans crystal
"Now Sunny, and Dusk." I said.
"Very well." Aisi said. She took me to the place where they were being held. I unchained them, and
checked them for hair clips. It was the real them. I hugged them, so tightly, and then said
"Thank you Aisi it’s been a pleasure!" As we were walking out Dusk stuck her tongue out at Aisi
which I could only laugh at. The next, and final place was the star meadow. I was going to get the
star crystal
Chapter 16: The Star Crystal
I was terrified. I was completely terrified. I was terrified, because if we got the star crystal that I would
have to face the shadow clan leader, and honestly I didn’t want to look him in the eye, and I knew
Dusk would come with me. However I was also worried about that too, because if she came and got
hurt I would never forgive myself. I couldn’t help, but be also the smallest bit excited. The star
meadow was said to grant wishes. It was said to have shooting stars coming down every night, and
we were almost there. I knew that there wouldn’t be a star guardian, because the old star guardian
was the shadow clan leader. He wouldn’t care about a crystal even if it was his crystal for a long
time. We dug at the ground, and finally pulled out the crystal, but nothing happened, and then I knew
what had happened. It was a fake star crystal, and then I knew that the shadow clan leader did have
the crystal. We needed to go there now. I rushed over to Dusk, and pulled her over to me.
"Dusk we need to go now we need to go to the shadow realm." Dusk took my hand, and said
"Okay hang on." We teleported there quickly, and I said
"Dusk that star crystal was fake we need to get the real one from the shadow leader." Dusk
shuddered at the thought, but said
"Alright I know we have to." We walked to the shadow palace, and busted in but to our surprise the
shadow clan leader was already waiting for us.
"Hello young ones." he said.
"My name is midnight, and I know why you're here."
"You want this crystal correct?" We nodded, and he said
"Let’s make a deal." I raised my eyebrows, and said "What deal?" Midnight came closer to me and,
said
"I’ll give you the crystal if you give me Dusk."
"No!" I said firmly.
"Very well then." Midnight said.
"Then I suppose you’ve given me no choice." Dusk growled at him, and then took out her dagger. I
turned into my wolf form, and then the shadow clan leader went into his shadow form. I felt nervous,
but not as worried as I thought I’d be. The shadow clan leader bounded for me. He jumped onto me,
but I kicked him off, and bit his hand. I knew that Midnight was much stronger than me, and Dusk put
it together. At least that’s what I thought. Midnight held me by my throat in front of Dusk. Then Dusk
raised her hands in submission, but what she hadn’t seen was that his minions had started coming
up behind her. They grabbed her and threw her off the long tall palace, but before she fell she
grabbed Midnight, and took him down with her.
"DUSK!" I shouted. I started to panic. Then I jumped and I turned into my star wolf form. I was
shooting across the sky. I had golden fur with silver stars on my fur. I felt myself land softly on the
ground. I found Dusk lying on the ground, and I ran to her side.
"Dusk?!"
"No, no, no you're going to be okay!"
"Your going to be okay Dusk!" I only knew one spell powerful enough to heal her, but it would take
away my magic forever. That was a downside that I could live with. I picked Dust up, and sang.
"Take this magic that was mine. "Take this magic that was mine." "Use it all, and use it well." "Let this
girl be well, and swell." I repeated this ten times, and saw my wolf form disappearing, and my magic
fleeing from my site. Dusk woke up, and said
"Luna how did you do?..." I smiled sadly, and she said
"No Luna!" "No you shouldn’t have done that!"
"I had to." I said. Then I looked into Dusk’s eyes, and
kissed her on the lips. It was magical.
Afterwards Dusk pulled me over to Midnight's staff, and took the star crystal out of it. I put it in the
crown, and finished the old shadow crystal. It shined brightly, and glowed like never before. Dusk
held out her hand, and said
"We did it." "You’ve saved the shadow clan." I took her hand, and said
"We did it." Then we went home. (A few weeks later)
"Dusk!" I shouted.
"Come on, you promised you were going to teach me, and you too Sunny!" Dusk came in, and said
"Okay fine." Me, and Sunny sat down watching excitedly
as Dusk showed us how to carve the small
amethyst dagger. Then she pulled out an aqua marine sheath, and handed it to me.
"Your new dagger." It was carved into the dagger as a wolf.
"Thanks Dusk." I said. I felt something strange behind my ears, and felt something strange. The
smallest bit of fur, and the pendant I’d always used for spells started to glow again.
Part II: Aqua
Chapter 21: Aqua
Date: 2016
(Prolog: It's been twenty years since Luna reunited the crown. She, and her wife Dusk had a
wonderful daughter named Aqua. Today was her eighteenth birthday. She'd always seen the way her
mother practiced her magic, and turned into a wolf, but because Aqua was adopted she didn't think
that she was capable of magic. However it's been three years since her fifteenth birthday when
Luna, and Dusk disappeared, and Aqua's given up all hope of ever finding them again.)
Aqua rolled over on her side. It was happening again. The wolf just kept appearing, and then her
mother. Finally a few flashes of light, and she woke up again. What's wrong with me?! Aqua thought.
She couldn't help but feel strange. She opened her eyes, and stood up then she remembered. Today
was her birthday! Again.... Just another reminder that her mothers was gone. Aqua walked into the
bathroom, and splashed water on her face. The cold icy liquid felt good on her hot sun kissed face.
She heard click, click, clicking of Esper at the door.
"Come in girl, it's okay." A small round wolf pup rolled through the wooden door. The wolf had been
her mother's best friend. The wolf had a black see through coat that was galaxy colored like purple,
blue, red, green, yellow, and sometimes white. The wolf also had a tail covered in constellations.
Esper painted with her tail in the sky. She made new stars every night. Aqua watched dazzled, as
Esper did this Aqua picked Esper up, and kissed her head. Aqua's only friend was Esper. Actually it
wasn't just Aqua's birthday it was also Esper's, and each year Esper and Aqua got each other a
special gift! This year Aqua had gotten Esper an amulet. It was made of a crystal that was purple,
blue, pastel pink, royal green, and black. This time Esper had gotten Aqua a staff. The wood part
was a galaxy, and had silver, golden stars, and
constellations on it. On the top of the staff were all
the crystals you could think of. Aqua, and Esper stepped outside, and lay on the soft grass.
"Do you think I'll ever be able to learn magic Esper?" Esper yipped softly, and sweetly encouraged
Aqua to keep talking.
"Do you think our parents will ever come back?" At this Esper howled loudly, and grabbed Aqua's
sleeve flying Aqua toward the sky. She howled, and Aqua understood she wanted to look for their
parents.
"yes." "I think we can do that Esper." Aqua said. That
night Aqua slept soundly, and woke up at four
in the morning. Aqua stepped outside into the crisp fall morning. When Aqua's mother; Luna, had
started her journey it had been in the winter so travel was much harsher, but fall weather would
make a much easier route for Aqua. Aqua decided to start looking in the woods. Since she heard
that's where everyone went missing, Aqua found her mother's old tree house. It was filled with
artifacts, jewels, their daggers, and the crown. Aqua picked up the kingdom's crown, and stared at it.
"Well you won't find anything here." A voice came from behind her. A wolf was there, but it wasn't
Esper. It looked almost ghostly.
"Who are you?!" asked Aqua.
"No one of importance."
"Although I might be useful in the sense that I could teach you magic." Aqua backed up, and said
"I think my mother could teach me that best."
"Well then you're going to need to start deeper in the woods, and Esper thinks that you shouldn't go
alone." Aqua turned around again to see Esper sitting in front of her when she faced the wolf again
all that was left was a blue key with a crystal at the end of it. The crystal looked like it was rainbow,
and looked like a rectangle stick covered in either salt,
snow, or sugar. Aqua hopped down from the
tree house, and took out her staff.
"Hop on Esper." Aqua called. Esper came running forward, and bounded onto the staff. Aqua jumped
up, and the staff floated upward. Aqua had seen her mother ride a broom once. Maybe riding a staff,
and broom will be similar, she thought. She leaned forward, and the broom zoomed forward. She
leaned back, and the staff went back. She leaned to the left, and right, and the broom went to the
sides so Aqua went forward, and eventually saw something that made her land on the ground. It was
a door with a lock, but nothing on the other side. Still
Aqua put the key in, and turned the lock. Aqua,
and Esper looked back one more time knowing that there wasn't any going back after this. There
was a glow and a black hole opened up where the door had been.
"See you soon." Aqua said. Then her, and Esper stepped through the door to find themselves in
what looked like a forest made out of space, and stars.
"What is this place Esper?" Esper sat down, and drew a circle with a yin, and yang symbol. Then
Esper jumped onto it, and she was gone.
"Esper!" Aqua shouted. Esper howled from a far away
tree. Aqua sat down, and kept drawing the
circles on the ground.
"What is this for?" Aqua thought to herself. Aqua touched the symbols like Esper had, but just like
she suspected nothing happened. Aqua stood back up, and walked around inspecting the strange
forest. Aqua was looking at an oddly shaped black tree when she heard a crook! crooo! crooo!
coming from behind her. Aqua turned around, and saw an owl. It had landed beside her. Its wing was
bent, and many of its feathers were gone. Aqua had never seen an owl like this. Not only was the
owl injured, but the owl was also orange, yellow, and
blue. It had the symbol of an aquarius sign on
its wing. Aqua could tell that the owl wasn't going anywhere with a bent wing like that. Aqua had
never actually done, or practiced medical things before, but she had a feeling that she could figure
something out for the owl. She approached it cautiously just in case it would get spooked, and run
away. She could probably unbind the wing, and get a makeshift case out of leaves, twigs, and some
tape in her pocket. Aqua felt on the ground for anything that was wooden, and small. In the end it
took about thirty minutes to find mud, and thirty twigs. She pulled tape out, and came closer to the
owl. She measured the owl's wing with her eyes, and shaped the tape, twigs, and mud to be about
the same size. When she was finished with the "Cast" she touched the owl's wing gently, and unbent
it. The owl made a horrible screeching sound, and Aqua quickly put the cast on it. Then she ran
behind a tree. She hoped she hadn't made anything worse. Eventually Aqua stepped out from
behind the tree, and saw the owl hopping around happily. Aqua sighed in relief, and started to walk
away when something grabbed her foot, and she was yanked backwards till Aqua was facing the owl
again. It chirped twice before letting the grip on Aqua go.
It dangled something on its foot. Aqua took
it off, and looked at it curiously. It was a box with all of the zodiac symbols on it. Aqua opened the
box, and saw a round crystal with a sun, and a moon on it. It had all the shades of the rainbow on it.
The moon was on the side of the blue, green, purple, and black's. The sun was where the red,
oranges, yellow, and white's. Aqua picked it up, and on the back all the zodiac signs were shining
silver. Aqua put the box, and the circular crystal in her purse. She patted the owl's head, and
suddenly she was back in front of Esper with her wand. Aqua checked her pocket. The crystal was
still there.
"Huh"? Aqua said. Aqua stroked Esper's head, and saw something that looked more interesting than
the trees in front of her. There was a piece of fur laying on the ground. She inspected it carefully. It
was werewolf fur, but it wasn't her mother's werewolf hair, however maybe the werewolf that this hair
would be able to lead her closer to her parent's, Aqua followed Esper who was following the scent of
the fur. They ended up leaving the forest, and found themselves back in front of the door they'd
come from except now the spirit wolf was there again.
"Don't worry about your magic yet, but take out that crystal circle will you?" Aqua took out the zodiac
crystal
"good. Now your answers can appear to find the twelve zodiac signs. Find all of their objects big,
and small then combine them all only then and then only will you find your mothers, and magic."
Suddenly Aqua was in a realm with only doors, and stars.
Chapter 22: Aries
Aqua walked through the first door, and a symbol appeared. It was a v like shape that was slightly
loopy at the top. Then she saw what looked like Australia.
She was on a beach where the ocean
swayed back and forth. Then she saw something strange.... ram. Aqua approached the ram, and
then the ram started to run. He ran off the beach; Aqua chased after him; he also had the strange
loopy v sign on his horns. Aqua finally came to a stop when she saw a broken down village. There
were people trading, and sleeping there, but everything was burned down and smoke was rising
from trees. Aqua stared deep into the bustle of commotion, and hoped to see the ram again, but it
was gone. Aqua made her way towards the nearest merchant she could find.
"Excuse me sir, but..what happened here?" The merchant looked up. He was an old skinny man with
little brown hair left. He huffed, and sat up. Then he said
"Something's been coming around here lately, tearing everything up, and honestly I wouldn't be too
surprised if everyone here left this place soon." Aqua stiffened up, and said
"Maybe I could try to help this place, and get rid of the thing that's been attacking here." The man
snorted, and said
"That monster will eat you alive you see love it's a Rimmniea." Aqua stepped back, and slightly
shuddered. Romania was another day word for the fox
except this fox was ten times bigger than any
before, and it was said to be even bigger than a fire fox. Aqua swallowed hard, and smiled;
determined.
"How big could they be?" Aqua decided that she would stay in town till the creature attacked again.
She had to help this town, and the only way she could think to do that was stopping the fox so she
would stay for a week, and if the creature didn't show up she was going to find it. The first day she
wanted to get to know all the people in the town. She met Agni, Adien, Ares, Bernat, and Con. Aqua
thought maybe one of them might know more about the fox. Agni was fourteen years old, she had
amber hair, and hazel eyes. Her skin tone was brown, and she wore a long satin dress. She said
that the fox only had one weakness since it was intelligent and knew how to speak. Its weakness
was having a very short temper. Aiden was thirty five, and he had slick blond hair with green eyes.
He wore a farmer's outfit. He had said the only way to fight the fox was to get the fox out of its
territory, then it would shrink back to the size of a normal fox. Ares was seventeen, and he had black
eyes, black hair, and he wore a business suit. He said that
Aqua would have to be lucky to find the
fox. Then he suggested finding a patch of clovers, and picking one just for luck. Bernat was ten, and
she had blue hair with amber eyes. She wore yoga pants, and a pajama top. She had said that only
abracadabra would keep Aqua safe from the large fox. Con was the last person Aqua met. He had
white dyed hair. He had one black eye, and one neon yellow eye. He had a business suit that had
peacock patterned colors and markings on it. He had said that the only way to find the fox was to call
out, and smile a thick crackling smile of thunder. The second day Aqua started to make a plan. She
thought that if the only way to stay lucky, and safe from the fox, I need to make something that
combines them both, and if the only way to find the fox is to howl and yell then the first time I do it I
should make a map. Since I don't have any magic yet other than Esper. I should find a weapon just
in case I can't get the creature to compromise. I can lead this town to battle, but lives may be lost
and I'm the only one volunteering to do this. The third day she collected materials. She went to the
nearest shop, and browsed, but found that she only wanted to use her mother's dagger. She
eventually traveled to a patch of green with clovers. In it ,
Aqua took out a piece of paper, and wrote
on it. The paper was black, and she wrote in blue, purple, and yellow. She started A. Then she went
down a line AB. Then another line down ABR, and another down ABRA. Another down ABRAC.
Down again ABRACA. Another line ABRACAD. Another again ABRACADA, and another
ABRACADAB. Again ABRACADABRA. Another ABRACADABRA ,and then she went down
backwards, and when she was down she pinned a clover to it. Finally she made a map by going to
an old shop down the block. They had maps, and all but all she got was some fresh paper. Once she
got the paper she made the map, and finally she had to wait for further instructions. On the fifth day
she got tired of waiting. She had to approach the fox now, so she howled, and yelled. Then she
smiled. The crackling thunder smile. That's when she saw the ram again. She ran towards it and
followed it up the mountains. She had remembered what someone had said about making the fox
angry but her first thought was to politely ask what was wrong.
"Excuse me, is someone there?" Aqua asked. Aqua had immediately seen the fox. It was the largest
fox she'd ever seen. It was black and its eyes looked like a sun that was blue and orange. When the
fox stared at Aqua it growled, and its tail came crashing towards her. Aqua jumped up, and wrapped
her arms around the neck of the fox. Then she maneuvered herself up. She saw why the fox was so
upset. A smaller fox was sitting on a ledge. It was the fox's child, and then Aqua saw it was trapped
where the town was. Aqua kept trying to talk politely to the fox, but being polite wasn't working. She
remembered someone saying that the only way to get the fox to listen was to enrage the fox. Aqua
had an idea that may not have been the way to go about
it, but Aqua decided to tell the fox that the
villagers were planning to sacrifice the baby fox. Saying this made the fox run out of her den down
the mountain where she shrank. Aqua then picked the fox up and explained what was actually going
on. The fox understood, and allowed Aqua to pick her up, and save her baby fox. Aqua took the
mother fox to the cliff the small fox was on, and Aqua threw the fox into the air. Then the fox caught
the baby fox, and returned them all to their den.
"Thank you for allowing me to help you, all powerful foxes." One of the runes on her crystal began to
glow, and a locket appeared. It had a small shiny dark
blue, light green, neon yellow, and purple
crystal inside. It was the first part of her journey. After she helped rebuild some of the houses she
was teleported out of the village, and into the galaxy void with the doors. The v with the loops on top
glowed, and then became just a mark with nothing else there.
Chapter 23: Tuarus
A door with a circle, and u loop on top appeared, and Aqua walked through. She appeared in a
spa-like place with steam rising from large pools of water. Each pool had a different theme, and
animals in it, but in the center was a small bull. It had the same circle with a u on top. I followed the
bull. I thought the bull would be rushing around, but it actually was quite slow, and a few minutes
after walking Aqua heard the screaming of animals. All of the animals were going crazy running
around, and some were passed out on the ground. Aqua calmly approached one of the animals
asking what was wrong with it. However all of the animals suddenly became silent, and sat back
down on the ground. Then the ominese sound of scratching came. Then something covered, and
wrapped in leather, and fabric came out. It was slow. Very slow, but it came close to the animals that
now lay lifelessly on the ground. The creature snarled with delight, and saw a small deer on the
ground. The creature approached it, and opened its gruesome jaws. Inside its mouth it was red, and
had saliva dripping down the corner of its mouth. Aqua remained calm, and carefully crept behind
the large fabric creature. She was watching it with sharp eyes. She saw the creature lean forward
trying to smell the deer. Aqua was horrified, but sat down. She had to remain calm, and silent. Then
she suddenly called Esper. When she did she felt Esper
come to her as fast as a bolt of lightning.
Aqua nodded her head to the creature that was coming closer to the deer. Esper understood what to
do. Esper jumped on top of the fabric creature, and tackled it; giving Aqua enough time to get up and
grab the deer. She was dragging it away from the danger. Right as she set the deer down it bounced
back up trying to run back to where it was. Aqua held the deer back, and tried to sooth it, but nothing
was working. Aqua looked at Esper. She saw that Esper was struggling to keep the creature at bay,
but then suddenly a figure appeared out from the distance. It was trotting towards the fabric creature.
It was the bull with the markings from before... It stabbed the feet of the fabric creature with its horn.
That was enough to make the fabric creature run off, and then suddenly the animals woke up. They
relaxed soon when they saw that no one had been devoured. A red fox with a black tail had come up
to Aqua, and explained that the animals went limp every night because of the curse that was placed
on them by a mysterious someone. Every night someone went missing supposedly because the
fabric creature Aqua had seen. They said the only way to break the curse was to kill nine animals so
far the creature has killed eight. Aqua suddenly thought
of something that could work.
"What if he captured me would that work?!" The animals hissed softly, and one said
"You are immune to his touch, because you are mostly human."
"It could work, but once he's captured you; you must get the real animal inside the fabric of the
creature."
"One weakness of the creatures is being stubborn that can hurt it, but it can also help it." That night
when all the other animals went limp, and the creature came, Aqua dressed up as a wolf, and Esper
had covered her scent. When the creature came crawling
forward, coming ever closer, she hugged
Esper tightly. The creature flung them into his large jaws. Inside there was wet fabric but no organs,
skulls but no blood and finally in the middle of the fabric body was a baby calf. It also had the
markings of the other strange bull. Aqua grabbed it, and flung it out of the fabric body; but the fabric
still came to life even when Aqua, and Esper fell out. Except now the animals were no longer limp,
and they all gathered together prepared to destroy the creature. However before Aqua, and Esper
could watch what happened they were teleported back
to the realm of doors. The door for that realm
disappeared, and another door came into vision. The symbol on the zodiac crystal glowed again,
then she walked through and looked at the next door.
Chapter 24: Gemini
Aqua stared at the door. It had a symbol above it that looked like a long H that had two lines going
through it instead of one line and it was also horizontal. Aqua stepped through the door and sighed.
She saw rocky terrain, and mountains everywhere. Then she saw two mischievous girls together.
They looked like twins except one was wearing goth-like
clothing, and the other was wearing a white
dress with small puffs of fabric ruffles on it. However their dresses both had the horizontal sign on it.
"Hello?" Aqua said the twins looked at her, and smiled then they both held out their hands to her.
Aqua cautiously took them firmly, and shook them. The twins smirked and the one wearing goth said
"Not such a good idea, human." Suddenly Aqua felt her eyes being stretched open wider by an
invisible force. Then the twins put their free hand on her forehead. Immediately their eyes suddenly
glowed. The one wearing goth had black, and gray glowing eyes. The one that was wearing the
angel-like dresses eyes glowed a white, and pale glow. Aqua felt all her past memories. The ones
she had never seen. The ones that had happened when she was perhaps only two, or three. Her
mother's face appeared. Dusk, and Luna appeared. They were sitting outside, and her mother Luna
was in her wolf form; while her mother Dusk was in her shadow form. Aqua heard their voices.
"What should we do about her?" asked Luna.
"I dont know..." Dusk had replied. Then Luna's eyes lit up.
"I know exactly how to help her Dusk! When she comes of age shall find us again with help from us
and then she'll be ready; and...; but then the memory will
be cut off. Aqua's eyes stopped glowing
green, and blue, but the twins eyes kept glowing for about another twenty six minutes. Finally they
stopped, and came to.
"Alright, are you ready, human?!"
"Ready for what?" Aqua asked.
" For your trials to begin." The twins chortled. Aqua narrowed her eyes, and said
"What do I get out of it? If I do these trials I mean?!" The goth twin smirked, and said
"One, we'll let your precious wolf Esper go." Then the angel like one said
"Two we will give you a reward, and you can go back to the realm of doors."
"Okay.., fine." Aqua said. The ground beneath her began to shatter, and it dropped down several
levels at the bottom. When the ground stopped there were marble pillars, and a pedestal made out
of an invisible starry substance. On top there was a book with a leathery texture; and it was the color
of a green apple soaked in vinegar. Aqua opened it up, and it automatically flipped all the way to a
page with her name on it. She saw writing there that had said
"By signing here you will be obligated to complete these
trials without question." Once she read what
was written a bowl of ink appeared. With no quill Aqua took the hint, and dipped her finger in; then
she carefully stamped it into the page. Only then did the quill appear. She signed her name in
cursive as best she could. Once she did, the book snapped shut with a loud crack crack crack bonk!
Aqua heard the cackles of the twins from above her. Though she couldn't see her reflection right
then she knew that her eyes were glowing blue, and purple glow. She was suddenly back on solid
ground, and she was in front of her parents. She waited patiently for any sign of what to do, but there
was none, so Aqua began to investigate. She thought it was strange that she would be brought back
to this moment in time. This moment when she learned that she couldn't do magic.
"At least not the right way." She touched her mother Luna's hand, but the second she did her parents
disintegrated into thin air. Although a moment in time became a reality everything rewinded, and she
was back to when she was still trying to get her healing spell. She had been trying to heal Esper,
because Esper had a thorn in her paw, but in trying to heal her Esper she had just made things
worse. She had made Espers paw become black, and
dark, and her paw started cracking, so Aqua
had stopped after that. Aqua had never tried to do magic again. Aqua looked all over the memory,
and snorted. She had never noticed that her mother Luna, and her mother Dusk were smiling as
they watched her. Then she was brought back to where she had been except things looked more
candle lit, and everything seemed so fragile. Aqua saw the goth looking twin float down to her.
"Good now we can get started with the real trials." Aqua swallowed hard, and furrowed her brows
together. Everything else fell away except for the twin,
and then the twin morphed into a creature
dripping with black, and silvery goo. The twin was covered in fur, and looked like a dragon shaped
kind of axolotl. It was small, but ran quickly, and spat something at her. She tried to walk forward to
reach the strange creature, but the gooey orange substance on the ground made a barrier around
her, and the axolotl twin. The twin smiled, and her crooked broken teeth showed. Aqua tried to walk
fast, but her skin started burning by the second; so she stepped back.
"I think you know the only thing you can do," the axolotl said grimly. Aqua looked down at her hands,
and put them back in her pockets.
"No? Not again?" The axolotl snickered, and said
"Fine its time to get rid of Esper then."
"No please... Please don't!" Aqua shouted, and she touched the barrier with her bare skin. Somehow
it disintegrated immediately. The goth twin Axolotl grinned, and said
"Finally it took you long enough!" Now that we have that out of the way you can battle her." The other
twin came out. She was an angel-like looking one. She transformed into a feathery chameleon, and
chirped. They both threw blast's air at Aqua. They knew how to control the temperature, and weight
of the air; so when it hit Aqua it sent her falling hard onto the ground. Then the ice froze her skin.
Aqua slammed the frozen part of her arm into the ground, and the ice shattered. The next time the
twins threw blasts of air at her; Aqua didn't hesitate to block it, and strike back. Aqua jumped up, and
grabbed the goth axolotls feet, then threw her back. That caused the feet of the axolotl to turn black,
and crack. It looked like a virus spreading through an animal. The angel-like chameleon twin was still
awake, and strong. Though Aqua soon found out they could change back into their human state of
appearance, and attack her. While the goth twin was on
the floor the angel-like twin held no restraint.
The Aqua finally let all her power give in, and she held her hand up. Aqua's furry ears appeared, and
a shadow ball of stars came into her hand. She threw it at the angel twin's face, and sent her flying
back to the ground. She now had what looked like a virus going through her too.
"Give me Esper." Aqua said coolly. She was clutching her arm, so it looked like she could attack
them again. however at that moment right then she was exhausted. Even so she made a starry
shadow ball and pointed it towards the twins. The twins shrieked, and Aqua thought it would be a
shriek in fear, but instead it was a shriek of delight.
"We like this feisty one.... yes yes we do. We yield a young half breed." Aqua released the shadows
from them, and sighed. Then her curiosity got the better of her
"How am I a half breed?" Aqua asked.
"You are a wolf and a shadow." Aqua thought this comment was interesting, but she would never be
able to do the kind of magic her mothers could do. The twins grinned mischievously, and said
"Let us show you something." They took her to a small
house with clocks inside it. The twins took out
an ornate looking box with a triangle and a square inside of it, and on the outside of the square was
a moon. In the triangle was a sun. The twins twirled around the box twice chanting.
"We don't do this for anyone. We don't do this for anyone." They repeated this five times before a
cracking sound came from the box. They squealed with excitement, and then they said
"We always love learning new things about people." For your honesty, and finally your cooperation
we want to reward you with what you need." They pulled out a necklace, and put it around Aquas
neck. Maybe the necklace was a smidge too loose. It was a moonstone in the shape of a small
crescent moon. It was an amethyst, and gold star in a black circle at the end of the moon. The twins
cackled, and said
"Now you can always learn more about someone." The circle of zodiac signs came out of her pocket,
and the strange sign for the twins glowed. Then she was once again back at the realm of doors.
Chapter 25: Cancer
Aqua saw a door appear. It had a symbol above it. It looked like a curved line with a circle at the end
at the bottom of the symbol. The other side was vertical. It was like that as well, but this time it was
flipped to be the other way around. Aqua walked through the glowing blooming door. Aqua ended up
being on a beach with a large festival beside it. This was South Clickstonoe. She saw a crab with the
symbol on its back. It was the same symbol she had seen on the door except the only strange thing
about it was that it didn't have a shell. The crab also didn't even try to run away when she came near
it.
"Where's your shell little guy?" Aqua asked. Esper came
up behind Aqua, and jumped onto the crab.
"No bad esper bad esper! Leave that poor crab alone!" The crab hurried forward, and hid behind
Aqua's foot.
"It's alright little guy." Aqua looked around, and smiled.
"Alright let's find your shell then!" Aqua let Esper loose, and watched as Esper ran along the beach.
She was howling, and barking in excitement. She looked at the crab, and thought where she could
find a shell for her little scared friend. She thought maybe just maybe someone would know where to
find a shell, or something like a shell. Aqua whistled for Esper to stay close to the seashore. Aqua
walked to where the glowing festival was. There were large tents, and an even larger faristweel. The
lights were magnificent, and the games were even more so. However Aqua didn't have time to
dawdle. She had to get straight to work. She traveled to the nearest shops, and looked for seashells,
old shells, and things that could make a shell, but nothing was working. Plus the poor little shell-less
crab was beginning to get irritated being around so many people. Then suddenly a young woman
walked out from behind a counter. She had long sunny yellow hair, and her eyes were orange. She
was wearing black lipstick, and she was wearing a short-
ish dress that was covered in velvet
flowers. The dress itself was blue, and had black designs on it. Her eyes fell onto the crab, and then
onto me.
"What are you looking for?"
"I'm looking for something to make this crab feel safe like their old shell could help, but we don't
know where to find one." The young woman smiled, and said
''Name's Eulalia" Aqua tried to smile, but she was biting her lip hoping that this lady could somehow
help this poor crab.
"Do you know where we can find a crab shell?..." Eulalia
smirked, and said
"It depends on what crab shell you need." Aqua held up the poor shell-less crab, and the woman
nodded thoughtfully.
"Please come with me." She led Aqua down rows of old sugars, and spices. She noticed that some
of the things in the shop were only from legends, and stories she heard of. In fact there wasn't
anything that she had ever seen before in her everyday life. Finally they came to a door that was
labeled "The Broken Metal, and Glass Work." The woman held the door open for Aqua, and shut it.
Aqua came up to the shop owner, or (so she assumed it was the shop owner). Then she set down
the crab on the counter.
"Excuse me sir, do you have anything that could fit this crab like a shell perhaps?!" Aqua got a good
look at the young man. He was in a healthy condition. He also had jet red hair, and bright blue eyes.
He was wearing an engineering suit with stained brown boots; that smelled of dust and somehow
sulfur. The man nodded, and brought out several different shell-like coverings, but only one caught
Aqua's eye. It was made of a glossy glass shell; that had the same symbol as the crab imprinted on
it. Although the symbol on this shell was much more colorful. The shell was rainbow, and sort of
holographic almost, but the symbol on the shell was in a silver outline as well. Aqua pointed to the
shell, and the man said
"Five hundred pounds, or something that could cost five hundred pounds." Aqua stared in shock at
the shell, and breathed deeply trying not to get overwhelmed. However she thought of only two
possible solutions. She could one: steal the shell, but that seemed like an honorable thing to do. She
could also two: she could give the zodiac stone away since it was really the only thing she had that
was valuable at the moment.(Aqua did have her gifts from the other zodiac signs but at the time the
gifts were all back at the realm of doors.) When she wasn't at the realm of doors, or in her house
with Esper she didn't have much. With that she handed him the stone. Then he looked at it. He had
such a strange expression crossing his face. Aqua couldn't tell what it was, but he slid the stone
back. He gave Aqua a wink and a grin. Finally he said
"How about forty pounds?' Aqua looked at him quite surprised at her luck. Aqua then thanked him,
and handed him the forty silver. After the man counted out the silver she placed the shell back onto
the crab. The crab glowed. ( The crab literally glowed, and Aqua of course stared at it with
amazement.) Of course she knew she still needed to take the crab back to the ocean where they
belonged. Then she was going to thank Eulalia, but when Aqua turned around she was gone. Then
when Aqua asked the man if he'd seen her leave he said that he'd seen Aqua come in alone. Aqua
thought to herself, and just smiled. She brought the crab back to the ocean, and the crab dug
something up from the sand before hopping into the water. In the sand Aqua picked up a crystal that
had ocean water in it. The crystal itself was aquamarine,
and grape agate, but inside the crystal was
water. Although it was sparkling, and had the image of a horse made out of water inside it. Aqua had
read about horses made of water somewhere. Kelpies...? She whistled for Esper to come back, and
she saw Espers tail up in the air. Esper was waddling closer to her Esper, and sat down. Her tail
went into the sky, and Esper started to draw a constellation. The constellation was of.... a kelpie.
Aquas zodiac stone glowed, and she was back in the realm of doors. The door with the crab
disappeared into mist.
Chapter 26: Leo
Aqua walked to her next door. It looked like an s with a circle at the top of it. She walked through,
and ended up in Hawaii.. perhaps? There were coconuts, and the ocean was everywhere. It was
peaceful there, and flowers were all around her. Although still she could hear the ocean sway. When
she suddenly heard growling. She turned around to see a group of lions clamped together. The lions
all had the same symbol that the door had. When Aqua walked closer she saw that a young baby
lion's back paw was trapped under a few giant looking rocks. ''How'd you guys get this little one
trapped?'' Aqua thought. The second that Aqua came closer to the lions they growled, and circled
her. All the lion's beard their glittering teeth in her direction. Aqua stepped back, and sighed. She
would need some sort of leverage to get the baby lion's foot out from the collapsed rocks. Aqua
didn't know how she could help these lions if they were going to attack her. Although when she
stepped back the lions stepped back; so she just kept back. She was backing up till she got far away
from the lions. From there she looked around for
anything that could get the lions away from the
small one. Then it hit Aqua! (It literally hit her.) A porcupine shot one of its quills at her, and now a
large quill was sticking in her leg.
''Hey! Ouch!'' Aqua grunted. Aqua pulled the quill out, and realized that there was a blue sticky liquid
on the quill that was making her feel quite drowsy, and then she realized what it was. It had a
sleeping glue on it. Before the porcupine could run away Aqua froze him to his spot with her shadow
magic. Then she fell onto the pavement, and fell fast asleep for a few hours. Later she felt herself
wake up. The porcupine was still stuck to its spot Aqua
went in front of them.
''Listen I don't want to hurt you!'' Aqua said in a pleading voice.
''I just want a few of your quills in exchange Ill do anything you need.'' The porcupine cooed in
appreciation. Then they lowered their quills.
''Fine you can get me lion fur in exchange I'll give you quills.'' Aqua stared at the porcupine, and said
''What do you need with lion fur?'' The porcupine snickered, and said
''Nothing that concerns you.'' Aqua sighed, and bit her lip.
''Alright fine.'' She stepped in front of the lion's collapsed den. The small lion's foot was still stuck. As
soon as Aqua stepped near their den they immediately circled around her, but this time she was
ready. She stood her ground, and spread her feet apart. She made a shadow ball with her hands,
and he held it carefully. She raised it above her head, and it grew bigger, and bigger, and bigger until
it was covering her and the lions. It was completely pitch black, but Aqua could still see. Aquas wolf
DNA was helping her with that. She lowered herself into a crouch, and found a lion's tail. She quickly
snatched a piece of fur. She heard the lion yelp, and
snarled at her. Aqua quickly ran as fast as she
could back to the porcupine. The porcupine looked at the fur, and sniffed it.
''Fine.'' they said. The porcupine took out several quills, and chirped happily. Aqua took the quills,
and ran back into the darkness. She stuck the pointy quills into the lion's paws. Eventually they all
fell to the ground asleep. They would be like that for quite a few hours. Finally Aqua moved the rocks
off of the small lion cub. She let the darkness around her and the lions leave. Aqua waited for the
lions to wake back up. Aqua could still hear the ocean waves washing over the dusty sea shore line.
When the lions saw that their cub was alright they came up to Aqua, and purred. Then they sat
down. The largest lion with a black, and yellow coat pushed something in front of her. It was a ring. It
was pure gold, and had water, wind, fire, and earth signs carved into it. Aqua's zodiac crystal
glowed, and another sign on it was silver. Then Aqua was teleported back to the realm of doors.
Chapter 27: Virgo
Aqua saw a door that had appeared. It had a symbol with an m, and it had a small curve at the top.
The symbol finished with a p like loop at the bottom.
Aqua stepped through, and saw that she was in
a house, and a young lady was standing there; in front of a mirror.
''Hello?!'' Aqua asked. The young exquisite looking woman looked up. On her earrings Aqua could
see the symbol that had been on the door the night before.
''I have to finish. I have to finish soon.'' The young woman was saying.
''Ma'am what do you have to finish?'' Aqua asked wearily. The woman's head snapped towards Aqua
at the sound of her words. An awful horrid grin crept
along her face.
''Why... I need a small trinket. It's a locket you see. It had blue angel wings on it with a ruby in the
center. If you find it in let's say two days I'll reward you handsomely. Aqua was aching to say no;
even screaming to say no in her head, but she figured this might be the only way to continue her
journey. Aqua sighed, and said
''Fine.'' Aqua stepped out of the house, and backstepped a few inches; when she saw that this house
was floating.
''Esper you there girl?!'' Esper yipped, and jumped into Aqua's arms. She was wagging her tail, then
she floated down to the ground. When Aqua saw Esper land safely on the ground she came up with
an idea. She didn't know if it was the smartest idea, but it could probably get her down to the ground.
She called Esper again, and Esper came flying up. Aqua grabbed Esper's collar, and took it off
Esper. Then Aqua let Esper chew on it. When Aqua was ready she grabbed onto it as Esper flew her
down. It didn't hurt Esper since she had space, and air powers. To Esper Aqua was weightless.
When they made it to the ground she saw a bustling city, but then she saw the woman for a flash of
a second at least.
''Come on Esper let's go.'' Esper straightened up as Aqua put Esper's collar back on. Esper then
painted happily. She sprinted hurriedly beside Aqua. The woman was so fast that Aqua could barely
keep up with herself. Aqua made a choice that she hoped she wouldn't regret. She went into her
shadow form. She was a shadow wolf she was able to see through the darkness, and had black dust
flying off of her. She also had dark lightning bugs flying around her. She was much faster in her
shadow form. She smiled, and knew that Esper could keep up. She followed the woman to a pit of
steaming hot molten lava. What is this even doing here?
Aqua thought, but then she focused her
attention back to the woman, and Aqua watched as she jumped onto ledges in the air. she was
going to easily make it across the lava. Aqua knew that Esper could fly up to the ledges, and make it
across, but Aqua couldn't; and Espers magic was weakening. Aqua would have to do something
else. Aqua planted her foot into the ground, and felt her nerves going wild. Her muscles were
clenched together, but she knew that this would be the only way to make it across. She felt the
shadow energy radiating off her, and then she bolted
across without even touching the lava. The
only problem was half way through her run her paw got caught on something. She looked behind her
to see a red shadow wolf holding her back, but it still had the same stiff exquisite stance as the
woman that was worried. It also had the same symbol that the woman's earrings did. Aqua painted,
and put her front paws onto one of the ledges, and launched herself forward. She felt land again,
and she knew that she had made it across. Although she was so exhausted that she just couldn't
move. She slunked down, and closed her eyes. She thought it would just be for a few seconds, but
when she opened her eyes again it was dark outside.
Dang it I must've overslept Aqua thought. she got back up to see that she was back in her human
form, and Esper was licking her face.
''Stop it Esper! Stop it!'' Esper obeyed, and stepped back. Aqua stood up, and gently stroked Espers
soft, fluffy, furry head. Then she picked Esper up, and carried her to where she saw the fancy
woman. The woman was sitting on the ground in pain. Her arm had gotten infected by Aqua's
shadow powers. Aqua bit her lip, and sat down. She saw the small locket on the inside of the
woman's pocket. Aqua pulled it out, and then went to the
woman. Aqua breathed deeply, and closed
her eyes. She imagined the shadows leaving. After a while the exquisite woman stood up finally.
''You brat! Give me my locket back!'' Aqua scowled and bared her teeth ever so slightly at the lady,
but gave the locket to her.
''Good now that the locket is in perfect condition I can give you your reward.'' She took out a wand
covered in moss, a rose quartz crystal, a moon stone, topaz, and amethyst. Then her zodiac stone
came out of her pocket, and the symbol glowed. Again she was back at the realm of doors.
Chapter 28: Libra
Aqua looked at the next door she needed to go to. The symbol was a straight line with a bump that
went back to a straight line, and then there was a straight line under that one. Aqua stepped through
the door, and saw that she was now in a courtroom. Aqua hid behind a large pillar. Then Aqua
watched as a blindfolded lady with two scales stepped out onto the floor. She climbed up a few
steps, and turned into a statue. Aqua examined the room around her. There were many bookcases
with one word written on them. Except Aqua could not
make out what they said she presumed that
the books had something to do with the reason she was there. The statue lady had the same symbol
as the door had. Suddenly five other people burst through the door. Three women and two males.
One of the males was a very old man with a suit on. He held a book with a gold cover. He stepped
up to where the statue was now, and he began to read.
''We have been brought here today to discuss the matters of a young girl named List. She has
shadow magic, and shadow magic is illegal, and dangerous. However since the scales always order
a fair trial we are here to decide if List is guilty. Professor
Falcon you can start.'' A woman in her mid
forties stood up, and walked in front of the book with the golden cover. She had brown hair that was
wavy, and her eyes were pitch black. She opened the book cover, and started to read. Then she
cleared her throat.
''You can say that shadow magic is dangerous, and illegal, but to be fair it isn't Liste's fault that she
has this magic. She also has no intent in using it for any horrible cause! In fact she never used her
shadow magic once! The actual only way the court knows of this is that it was on her birth certificate;
and since no one has tried to help List get rid of her
powers she had no way of being able to be
shadowless. To finish this off you have no right to be putting this young girl into prison!'' The young
woman finished, and the judge nodded in acknowledgement.
''Perfessor Lucky you can start!'' An old woman with gray hair, and brown eyes stepped on stage.
Then she flipped to a different dusty old page in the golden book.
''If your to say that no one helped this young girl named List it's, because List never asked for help to
get rid of it, and to be clear even if it isn't her fault for having these powers the shadows are evil, and
dangerous; beyond compare! If we dont keep her contained, and away from the public then she
could become out of control, and she could hurt people! That is even if it was by accident!'' The
judge nodded again, and said
''Finally the jury will decide who is guilty, and who is innocent! A very, very young man, maybe twenty
or so, stood up. He had blue, and orange hair. His eyes were a hazelnutty blue. When he stood up
he pointed to the statue, then he said
''Let the scales decide.'' The scales started to drop towards guilt. Aqua felt herself holding her breath,
and then she shook her head. She stopped hiding, and shouted
''I object!'' Everyone turned to face her. From this angle Aqua could see List quite clearly. She
thought List looked like a younger version of her mother Dusk.
''I'll take all of Lists punishments; if you try and fail to help List.'' As soon as Aqua had said this the
scales changed to innocent, and the statue turned back into the young woman she had seen before.
She handed Aqua a silver scale with crystals in them, and Aqua's zodiac crystal flew up, and out of
her pocket. Then the symbol suddenly started glowing,
and Aqua was back at the realm of doors.
Chapter 29: Scorpio
Aqua was facing her next door. It had an M with an arrow at the very end of it. Aqua walked through
the door, and saw that she was on the beach again.
''Well it seems like there's quite a theme here.. huh?'' said Aqua. She walked down the shoreline,
and saw a dead scorpion. Aqua almost hurled and stared horrified to see the scorpion had the
symbol that the door had on it. Aqua examined the scorpion. There were no bite marks, or anything
that would kill this creature.
''What the...?!'' Aqua began, but then a crowd of scorpions came out of nowhere, and surrounded the
dead scorpion. What killed that scorpion?! Aqua thought suddenly there was a snarling sound
behind her, and when she turned around Aqua saw a water creature that was made out of sea foam.
It was in the shape of a horse, and it was moving. It was a kelpie also known as a nixie, or caple usi.
Aqua had only heard about them somewhere once. She had been little. Not very very little, but
younger than she was now. Aqua had been ten maybe, and her mother's Dusk, and Luna had been
reading her a bedtime story. The story was about
