     The day finally came.   Isabel had to say 

goodbye to her friends.   The big moving truck 

was packed with all of their belongings and 

they were off for a long journey to the west.  

All Isabel could think about was how different 

life was going to be in the west. She was 

worried about meeting new friends. 

Her mother was driving.   They drove through 

the country, they drove through some cities, 

they even drove through the plains.   It felt like 

the longest trip ever! 

Finally, in the distance Isabel saw the 

mountains. Her mother said, "We are getting 

close!" The mountains were beautiful.   They 

were the biggest snow-capped mountains she 

had ever seen.   A sign on the side of the road 

said "Welcome to Colorful Colorado." Isabel's 

palms were starting to sweat. She didn't know 

what to expect.  

Things started to look a little more familiar.  

There were more lights and buildings 

everywhere. She felt like she was back in New 

York City.   Her mother said, "Isabel, this is our 

new home, Denver, Colorado!"
