Dolly Parton is an American singer-songwriter, from Sevier County, Tennessee. She was born on January 19, 1946. Dolly Parton is married to her husband, Carl Dean, and he was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on July 20, 1942. Dolly and her husband live in Nashville, Tennessee.

Dolly Parton comes from a huge family! She is the fourth sibling, out of twelve! You may think that is a lot of children for one family, but in the 1900s, there were many big families with a lot of siblings. Surprisingly, all of Dolly's big family lived in a small cabin with only one bedroom, no electricity, and no indoor plumbing. However, the home was filled with music!

Dolly Parton graduated high school in 1964, and she immediately followed her passion of music, by moving to Nashville, Tennessee. Dolly Parton did not attend college, and was the first in her family to obtain a high school diploma.
Fun Fact: Nashville, Tennessee, is also known for being called "The City of Music!"

Since Dolly started pursuing her dream of being a singer and songwriter, she has written over 3,000 songs! Yes, you heard that right, 3,000 songs! Of those she has written, 450 have been recorded. Aside from singing and writing songs, Dolly appears on several TV shows and movies. Dolly has been on Broadway, hosted her own musical shows, and she even has her own theme park located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, which is named Dollywood! Dollywood opened in 1986 and is still operating. In 1994, Dolly wrote and published her own autobiography, titled "Dolly: My Life and Other Unfinished Business" along with "Run, Rose, Run."
Dolly Parton has won several awards from different organizations. Dolly's talent has been displayed all around the world, and there have been many appreciation tokens given to her throughout her musical career.
