Introduction
Snakes are a really fascinating reptile. Snakes evolved from lizards. You can even find fragments of hind legs in some snake's skeletons.

Chapter one: Poisonous snakes

How do snakes inject poison?
Snakes have poison glands in their body. The poison moves from the poison gland and into the fangs. Then, the snake opens its mouth to strike.

What type of poison do cobras have?
Neurotoxin. This poison blocks the nervous system and causes paralysis. Cobras use this poison to stun their prey before eating it.

King Cobra
What is the most venomous snake?
The Inland Taipan. This snake venom is so poisonous, it can easily kill a human in a second. But, it lives in remote parts of Australia, and most its prey are small mammals.

Chapter two: How do snakes hunt

How does a snake kill its prey?
A snake uses their jaw to inject venom, or constrict their prey. Constricting is a method used by snakes to break their bones and eat it.

Do snakes hunt by eyesight?
No. Snakes can't see that well. They use heat signatures instead to track and kill their prey.

Do snakes chase their prey?
Not a lot. Snakes aren't that fast. The Black Mamba, for example, goes at 19 mph. This snake is kind of fast, but many others are not. They ambush their prey.

Snake senses
Some snakes have extra senses, such as the pit vipers, who can see infrared and heat signatures.

Chapter three: Constrictors

What are constrictors?
Constrictors are types of snakes that use their muscle to brake their prey's bones. This includes pythons, boas, and other BIG snakes.

What is the most biggest constrictor in the world?
The green anaconda. This snake can grow up to 20 feet in length. The anaconda doesn't only hold the record of the biggest constrictor, it also is the world's biggest snake.

Green Anaconda
Venomous?
Constrictors are not venomous. They evolved strong muscles instead of venom.
