In the depths of the sea, there lived a little mermaid named Ariel.
She was fascinated by exploring the underwater world with her friend Flounder, but she dreamed of living on the surface.
Ariel was always looking for human treasures.
When Ariel and Flounder found a strange, spiked object, they swam to the surface to see her friend Scuttle.
"It's a junk!" Scuttle said.
Ariel's Dad was Triton, the King of the sea. He believed that humans were not to be trusted.
When Triton realized that Ariel had risen to the surface, he forbade her to do so again and to make sure she obeyed him, he assigned Sebastian as her caretaker.
Ariel continued to rise to the surface. One night, a terrible storm hit at sea.
Ariel and Flounder saw a Prince fall from a ship. «I must rescue him!» Ariel shouted.
Ariel took Prince Eric to the seashore and sang him a song. But she returned to the sea before he woke up.
Prince Eric only managed to see Ariel for a second, but he knew that he would never forget that beautiful voice.
Eager to see Prince Eric once again, Ariel acepted to give her voice to the sea witch – Ursula.
Ursula created a spell and turned Ariel into a human.
But if Prince Eric did not kiss Ariel before sunset, on the third day, she would become a mermaid again. Or even worse, the sea would belong to Ursula!
Captivated by her beauty, Prince Eric showed his kingdom to Ariel.
Ariel was fascinated by being with the Prince—outside the sea. But time passed, and they had not kissed.
To prevent Prince Eric from falling in love with Ariel, Ursula transformed herself into a beautiful young woman named Vanesa.
She wanted to make Prince Eric fall in love with her.
Vanesa, Úrsula used Ariel's voice to cast a spell on Prince Eric. She made him believe that he was in love with her.
So in love that he was even going to marry Vanesa!
