Going to Camp by Lou Gidiere
This book is dedicated to my grandfather who always read to me when I went and stayed the night; he is what allowed me to love books.
Daisy Doitall has to go to camp. She can't believe it! She does everything with Mom and doesn't think she will be able to make it. Do you think she will come over this fear?
"You’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think." - Winnie The Pooh

Meet Daisy Doitall.
She is a very good kid, but she is a little too clingy towards her mom.
Of course, being close with your mom is a good thing! But, Daisy can’t do anything without her.
One summer day, Daisy got some news that shocked her.
“You're going to summer camp tomorrow, so come with me to go shopping,” said Mom.
“MOM! NO! I can’t be away from you!” said Daisy.
Mom said, “It’s not too long. Plus you’ll have all of your friends!”
Daisy finally went along with her mom to go shopping. The car ride was long and frightening.
She and Mom arrived to the store and got to shopping. She got her bedsheets, a flashlight, a water bottle, sunscreen, and bug spray.
“BUG SPRAY?!” Daisy yelled, “You mean to tell me that there are going to be bugs at this camp?”
“Yep, there sure are. It's an outdoor camp silly,” said Mom. Daisy proceeded to have a tantrum in front of the whole store.
After Daisy’s tantrum in the store, she and Mom headed home to start packing her trunk.
Daisy and Mom went upstairs to Daisy’s room to get her clothes together.
“Okay,” said Mom, “let’s get your clothes together.”
As they were gathering Daisy’s clothes for camp, Daisy asked,
“Why are we getting all of these clothes out? It’s only a day camp right?”
Her mom laughed, “No Daisy, it’s for a week!
This news shocked Daisy. She had thought that this camp was only for a day, but now it was for a week!
Almost crying, Daisy helped her mom bring her clothes down.
They brought up Mom’s old trunk that she had used as a little kid.
As they sat the trunk down, it stared at Daisy with the eyes of terror, and it scared her.
“Mom! I can’t go! I can’t go to camp!” she said as tears welled up in her eyes and fell like a thunderstorm.
“Daisy, sweetie, you're going to have to try to be brave for me,” said Mom.
“Okay, Mom, I’ll try,” said Daisy, wiping her tears.
They packed all of Daisy’s clothes and other camp things and closed the trunk up.
“Tomorrow is your first day of camp,” said Mom. “Go get some good rest, so you are ready!”
