It was a rainy night in the month of October. Halloween was just around the corner. Just thinking about it gave me the chills. I was shuffling through my mail when I found a mysterious envelope. Oops… I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Geronimo Stilton and I run The Rodent’s Gazette, the most famous newspaper on mouse island.

The envelope was red and black. When I opened it I almost fainted with fear, it was from the king of the cats! It was addressed to every mouse in New Mouse City. It said,” We cats are going to steal the New Mouse City Museum’s gem on Halloween. Either you blockheads protect your gem and fail or celebrate Halloween.”
From the Cat King

Ding Dong Ding Dong
Then I immediately dialled my sister, Thea Stilton. I was busy asking her if she had received the letter, that I didn’t notice someone was ringing the doorbell until that someone screamed at the top of his lungs,” Geronimo, open the door”. I put down the phone and went to answer the door.

It was my cousin Trap. He came inside eating a cookie. He sat down on my desk and started chatting on my phone. I pushed him out of the way before he could ruin my lovely red phone.
He then asked me,” did you get the mysterious letter from the cat king?” “Yes, I did.” I said and turned as pale as a slice of mozzarella.

Just then my sister, Thea Stilton came running and asked me,” Did you guys get the letter from the Cat King?” This time I actually fainted. I had thought at first that it was a joke from someone but now I knew that the cats were really going to steal the gem from New Mouse City Museum.

Let me tell you more about the gem. It was brought by Mousipher Mosembes on his maiden voyage to South America. It was said to be worth 80 million dollars.
It looks like this:

Just then I got a whif of something stinky. I opened my eyes and saw that it was a piece of stinky cheese. My sister was waving it under my nose and trying to wake me up.
When I woke up I started shouting,” Come on let’s go. The cats are going to steal the gem. Let’s go go go go go.” My cousin trap piped in,” Clam down cuz, we are not under attack. It is not yet Halloween.” When he said the word “Halloween” a chill ran through my body. You see I am not really a fan of the dark and spooky things.
