awaiting their arrival. She chose a marvelous place
to make a nest. There were bushes that were one
meter tall that protected her eggs from all predators
and the air was always a warm 21 degrees Celsius

to be hatched. She was tired of sitting around waiting so,
she stood up and stared down at her eggs. "Well, isn't this
strange?" she began, "This egg is gray and seems to be
about 4 centimeters taller than the white eggs!"

eggs, they began to hatch. Within 30 seconds, three
adorable ducklings were running around letting
out small quacks.
"Mother, why hasn't the big gray egg hatched?"

the arrival of their brother. When he came out, the family
noticed he was awfully large and probably weighed about
3 grams heavier than the rest of the ducklings.
"Mother, why is he gray and large?" said one
duckling. "He is so ugly, Mother, why?" called another.

big world, the family stumbled across Wise Rooster.
Wise Rooster was the oldest animal in the village
and many animals looked up to him. As Mother Duck
approached the rooster, she saw him gasp.
"Oh dear, what is that horrid gray hairball?" Wise
Rooster screeched. His scream made all the other
animals nearby look. The ugly duckling backed up into
the warmth of his mother as laughter filled the air.
There were laughs coming from everywhere, even from
the birds and bees that were 4 meters high in the sky!

visited the pond. The ugly duckling thought it was
beautiful! It was about 750 liters and it stretched
farther than the ducklings have ever seen.
Meanwhile, the yellow ducklings stirred
a plan. They decided it would be funny to to peck
him and chase him over to the cat.
"Let the cat have him!" quacked one duck.
