Students worked in transnational teams in order to find information about ten dog breeds.
Each chapter of the e-book is dedicated to a dog breed and it is divided into five parts: physical characteristics, origin, where it lives, personality/suitable to, skills.

Siberian Husky

The Siberian Husky is a medium size dog. It has got a thick double coat and triangular erect ears.
The Siberian Husky stands 20 to 24 inches (51 to 61 cm) tall.
It is usually grey, tan, or black and white, and it may have head marks resembling a cap, a mask, or spectacles.
Huskies have got a bushy tail.
The Siberian Husky is considered a medium breed according to the AKC. The length of the Siberian Husky breed varies between 50-60 cm and its weight varies between 15-27 kg. While the weight of females is 15-23 kg and the length is 50-56 cm, the weight of males is 20-27 kg and the height is 53-60 cm.
Physical characteristics

Origin

Siberian Huskies originated in Northeast Asia where they are bred by the Chukchi people of Siberia for sled pulling and companionship.
The roots of this breed are to be found in eastern Siberia, among the Ciucki people, who used these dogs to pull sleds.
They usually live in cold places. Its origin is from Russia.
In Northeast Asia, Chukchi people developed the breed specifically for use as a sled dog.
Where it lives

He lives in North America in Canada.
Although they prefer to live in cold places, they can also live happily in warm places.
The natural habitat of a Siberian Husky is a cold, northern climate such as the Siberian Tundra or the wilds of Alaska. Bred by the Chukchi people to survive the climate, the Husky has a thick double coat to withstand harsh storms and the nearly constant night of the region. They originated in Northeast Asia where they are bred by the Chukchi people of Siberia for sled pulling and companionship.
Personality/Suitable to

Siberian Huskies are known for their friendly and outgoing nature. They are intelligent, independent, and can have a mischievous streak. They usually get along well with people and other dogs. Siberian huskies are gentle and outgoing towards strangers. They are suitable for people that have an active lifestyle and enjoy spending time outdoors. Because of their friendly nature with strangers and other dogs and pets Siberians do not make good guard dogs.
Skills

The Siberian Husky is a beautiful and energetic dog breed known for its thick double coat, striking eyes, and strong sled-pulling abilities.
It has got great physical resistance.
Its abilities/skills in addition to being a companion animal are: sledding, carting, running companion, agility, obedience.
As a pet, the Siberian Husky is a loyal and devoted breed, which is very attached to its family.
Akita


Physical characteristics

Akitas are burly, heavy-boned spitz-type dogs of imposing stature. Standing 24 to 28 inches at the shoulder, Akitas have a dense coat that comes in several colors, including white. The head is broad and massive, and is balanced in the rear by a full, curled-over tail. Its tail is large and full, it distinctly curls and rests on its back. The fur looks like a plush. Except for the white ones, all Akitas bear a distinct mask (dark area around the muzzle).
The Akita breed goes back at least 1,000 years.
It is a helper for humans. Originally, the Akita’s regional ancestors, called Matagiinu, were medium-sized dogs bred to serve as hunting companions. They were trained to hunt animals such as elk, wild boor.
The breed hailed from snowy, rural, mountainous region of Japan, where they were used to hunt.
This breed comes from the province of Akita – located in the north of Japan.
The Akita, originating from Japan, is a powerful and noble dog breed. Its history dates back centuries, and it's revered for its loyalty and strength. Akitas were originally used for hunting and guarding in Japan. Today, they are known for their dignified demeanor and protective nature, making them both a historic and beloved breed.

Where it lives

Akitas enjoy colder weather and snow. They are not well suited for hot temperatures, as the breed is prone to overheating.
It prefers cold climates, but it is a dog that also adapts to life in the city and to less rigid temperatures.
Best temperatures for this dog is between -12º and 30º Celsius.
Personality/Suitable to

Akitas are quiet, fastidious dogs. Wary of strangers and often intolerant of other animals, Akitas will gladly share their silly, affectionate side with family and friends.
It is used to hunt bear, wild boar and game.
The large, independent-thinking Akita is hardwired for protecting those they love. They must be well socialized from birth with people and other dogs.
They are excellent watchdogs and will only bark when something really strange happens.

Akitas are very attentive and find it very easy to learn.
They are skilled at hunting and fighting.They are interlligent and strong. They have loyal spirit.
The Akita is courageous, a natural guardian of their family. Stubborn and willful, they won’t back down from a challenge.
They often like to grab their owner's wrist to show them different situations going on around them.
Skills

German Shepherd
Physical characteristics

German Shepherds have long triangular ears that stick up in the air. It’s a large dog; it’s about 60 centimetres tall.
Its ideal length is 62,5 cm and its between 35-40 kg. They are usally yellowish brown and black. İt lives around 12 years.
The German Shepherd Dog is a large, agile, muscular dog of noble character and high intelligence.
It has almond-shaped eyes, medium in size and slightly slanted in shape, giving them a lively and intelligent look.
Origin

As the name of the breed suggests, the German Shepherd originates from Germany. Captain max von Stephanitz of Germany was the first person to register the first German shepherd in 1899.
Since it is a domesticated breed, the German Shepherd doesn't have a naturale habitat because it was bred to fulfill the duties of a guard dog. It lives everywhere

Personality/Suitable to

The German shepard is a sportsdog: he does well in agility, dog dance, treibbal and flyball.
Intelligence, obedience and training skills make this dog breed versatile and resourceful.
It likes helping people, so it’s an excellent rescue dog).
Due to his Personality this dog is suitable to the police and armed forces because they have high-energy and they are strong dogs.
Skills

German Shepherds can reach sprinting speeds of up to 48 km per hour. It’s very fast and strong, too. It’s very intelligent; it can learn a lot of things quickly.
This breed assumes the role of guard dog, rescue dog, drug/weapons/explosive sniffing dog, guide dog for blind people, etc.
They are very smart and hard-working, they are very easy to train.
The German Shepherds were used for years as service dogs, they also excel in sports, such as competitive obedience, herding, agility, flyball, and many others.

Yorkshire Terrier
Physical characteristics

It’s very small; it weighs about 3 kilos.
It has got flowing fringes similar to human hair.
Its body is proportionate, compact and elegant.
They have a mix of color pairs from the back of their necks down to the base of their tails. The Yorkshire Terrier is a compact, toy-size terrier of no more than seven pounds.
Long facial hair is usually tied at the top of the head with an elastic to prevent it from getting into the eyes.
Origin

Yorkshire Terriers originated in the nineteenth century in the English county of Yorkshire. Yorkshire is in England.
This breed was developed in England around 1850, with the purpose of hunting rodents, badgers and other small animals that spread diseases and invaded food supplies.
Yorkshire Terriers originate from Yorkshire in England, hence the name.
Where it lives

Yorkshire terriers have adjusted to a more laidback lifestyle in today's world and particularly enjoy spending time indoors with their families.
They were first bred in Northern England and made their way to North America in the 1870s.
Personality/Suitable

The Yorkshire Terrier is a tenacious, brave and sometimes bossy dog. It has all the traits of a true terrier. It barks a lot, so it’s an excellent watchdog.
Yorkshire terriers are more suitable to families with older children. They can make excellent guard dogs.
Originally bred to catch rats in mills, Yorkshire Terriers have a hunting instinct and are bold, fearless characters. They make great companions for those living alone and good pets for families with older children, as long as kids are taught how to interact with them correctly. They are energetic and enjoy time spent off the lead and playing games.
Skills

It is an excellent companion dog. lt loves long walks or running around the yard. It likes playing and running.
He likes to catch mice.
They bark a lot. They bite a lot when they are a angry. They are intelligent dogs.

Beagle
Physical characteristics

Beagles are adorable as they are compact dogs with a broad noses and long, droopy ears. They have a pretty long tail, too.
It usually, reaches a height at the withers that varies from 33 to 40 cm.
Beagles come in a myriad of colors, but are most frequently seen in a tricolor coat of black, tan and white or blue, tan, and white.
It is white and tan. It is lives 12,15 years.
Beagles are compact dogs with a slightly domed skull, squarish muzzle, broad nose, and long, droopy ears and moderately long tail.

It is a very ancient breed.
The beagle originates from Great Britain where the name beagle was used to describe all small hounds.

It is a very popular dog in USA and in England.
The first Beagle club was established in the United States in 1888. Now it is a known and loved around the world.

Personality/Suitable

Beagles are cheerful dogs that like affection. They are friendly and outgoing dogs. Beagles are generally considered to get along well with other pets and children. They are suitable for children and parents. The Beagle is a very intelligent dog. Beagles have playful personalities and they make great family pets. If you leave them alone they may howl and be destructive.
Skills

The Beagle is an excellent hunting dog and a loyal companion. It was bred for hunting especially small game (rabbits, foxes, ground birds, etc.)
When it comes to hunting skills, the Beagle is unquestionably top dog. The breed's talent was developed over centuries of hunting gopher, rabbit, and small game. In the 1800s, the Beagle's popularity began to dwindle as fox hunting became popular and the Foxhound stole the limelight.
Despite his hunting skills, the Beagle is a very affectionate dog that sees his master as the point of reference, constantly following him in any situation.

Dalmatian
Physical characteristics

The Dalmatian is a medium-sized, well-balanced, and muscular dog with a spotted short coat. They have black dots.
The puppies are born white, and the spots develop a few weeks after birth.
The colour of the Dalmatian's eyes depends on the colour of its spots. Dogs with black spots usually have dark brown eyes; dogs with brown spots often have amber eyes.
A sleek, symmetrically built, short-haired dog, the Dalmatian is characterized by its dark-spotted white coat. The pups are born white, and the spots develop a few weeks after birth. The Dalmatian stands 19 to 24 inches (48 to 61 cm) tall at the withers and weighs 45 to 70 pounds (20 to 32 kg).
Origin

There is the possibility that the eastern Mediterranean was the cradle of this breed because a terracotta statuette was found in the ruins of Mycenae dating to 1600 BC depicting a white dog with round black spots.
The first known written reference to a Dalmatian dog is from 1375, when Peter, Bishop of Dakovo (a town in Croatia), mentions a hunting dog principally found in Dalmatia, with short white hair and black round spots on various parts of the body, naming the breed Canis Dalmaticus.
Where it lives

Dalmatian love to live in a place where they can run and play, because they need to do a lot of exercise.
The dalmatians have their origins in Croatia and its historical region of Dalmatia. Dalmatians ancestors were breeds of pointers and a spotted Great Dane.
It needs a garden to vent his energies.
Personality/Suitable for

Dalmatians are hunting dogs but are particularly good guard dogs as they are loyal and protective.
They are good to live with kids and are nice to other animals and dogs.
Dalmatians are highly energetic, playful and sensitive dogs.
They are loyal to their family and good with children.
They are dogs with a very good memory, managing to recognize a person (pleasant or unpleasant) even after years.
Skills

They were used as hunting dogs, dogs of war, guarding the borders of Dalmatia.
Dalmatians are highly energetic, playful and sensitive dogs. Dalmatian have a coaching instinct and are very good for road work because they can keep up with horses without difficulty.
This breed of dog is very good for hunting due to its agility and ability to locate prey.

Labrador
Physical characteristics

They have a very a strong body and sturdy legs. Male labradors can be up to 24 inches tall. They weigh from 85 pounds (a large male) to 55 pounds (a smaller female).They are beautiful dogs.The color of the coat resembles the color of gold. Their color is basically white with yellow spots especially in Greece but sometimes they can be black and othertimes chocolate brown, too.You should know that their life span is 10-12 years and they are British breed. Labradors are strong, medium-large dogs.
Origin

It is a British breed of retriever gun dogs.
It traces its origin back to the St. John's region of Newfoundland, Canada, and was brought to England by fishermen about 1800. There it was known as the "Small Water Dog".
Labrador's roots date back to the 19th century. Early 20th century: named after the Labrador Peninsula, where the breed was developed. Also, they are friendly dogs and medium weight. Their common colors are Black Brown and blonde.
Historically, they earned their living as fishermen's helpers: pulling nets, hauling ropes, and retrieving fish from the cold North Atlantic.
