Once upon a time, there was a young girl named Amelia who lived in a small town in Buffalo, New York. Amelia had beautiful curly hair, glasses, and always wore unique outfits, often in pink, her favorite color! Her appearance was her favorite way of expressing herself. Amelia was very confident and happy with who she was, as her loved ones raised her to always be her truest self. ¨Great outfit again, sweetie!¨exclaimed her dad, ¨Always as colorful as your personality!¨her mother said. ¨Thanks mom and dad! You always appreciate my creativity,¨ Amelia stated cheerily. Amelia was starting middle school very soon and was very excited for her first day.

¨Always as colorful as your personality!¨

She had already picked out her outfit days before school began and was very proud of it. She thought it was a great way to represent who she was to new friends.
¨Are you excited to start your first day?¨asked Amelia's dad. "I'm super excited!" exclaimed Amelia,
"I'm even wearing my favorite shirt for good luck," she explained. "You look great! Now go enjoy your day, dad and I will be here to get you after school." stated Amelia's mom.
"Okay, bye!" Amelia squealed excitedly as she ran towards the building, bag in hand.

After saying goodbye to her parents, Amelia walked towards the school. She caught a glimpse of her outfit and hair and smiled at her reflection before walking in, ready to begin her first day!
As soon as she walked in, she searched excitedly for new friends and her old friends from elementary school. She spotted a few of her friends from last year, Mia, Sarah, and Riley.
Amelia ran up to them, happy to see them after summer. "Hi, guys!" exclaimed Amelia. Once the girls all spotted eachother, they were overjoyed to see their friends from school.

Welcome to Middle School!!!

"Hi, guys!!"

Welcome to Middle School!!!

"Oh my gosh, hi Amelia!"
"I've missed you!"
"I'm so happy to see you all!"

¨Oh my gosh, hi Amelia!¨Mia greeted, ¨I´ve missed you!¨ said Sarah, ¨I´m so happy to see you all!¨ Riley said cheerily. The three girls spent their time before class chatting about what they did over the summer and how much they missed not seeing eachother everyday since school ended. "I'm a little worried to begin middle school," Riley said quietly.
` The other girls nodded in agreement. "I'm scared to be in middle school too, but it'll all be fine as long as we stick together and have fun!" stated Amelia. "Of course we'll stick together!" exclaimed Mia. "You guys are my best friends, we'll always be there for eachother," proclaimed Sarah.
After the three girls promised to stick together while navigating middle school, the teacher entered the classroom and asked the class to take their seats. Amelia's friends had gotten to class before her and had already picked their seats. With no seats left near the group, Amelia had to sit on the other side of the room. Her friends looked at her apologetically as class started.
At the end of class, the girls met up in the hall to see what classes they had together. They found they only had their first class and two others together, but they also had lunch. They planned to meet in the lunchroom and save a table so they could all sit together.

"Bye!"
"See you guys at lunch!"
As Amelia entered the lunch room, she saw her friends already sitting with two older girls. Amelia didn't know them, but was excited to meet them. Once she walked up to the group, however, the older girls gave her a nasty look.
"Your outfit is sooo immature," said one of the girls, "way too pink!" said another.
Amelia was not hurt by this until she saw her own friends staying silent. They had all promised to stick together and her best friends were now letting their new friends make fun of her. "Why are they doing this?" Amelia thought. She was so upset with them that she just ran away and sat at a different table.

"Why are they doing this?"
"way too pink!"
"Your outfit is sooo immature"

Amelia did not see her friends again after lunchtime and went home feeling sad and betrayed. She didn't tell her parents what happened and went straight to her room to think. As she looked up at a picture of her and her friends on her wall, she felt so alone. Amelia looked in her mirror and thought about what the older girls had said. "Do I dress too childish? Are my friends embarrassed of me?" Amelia thought. Amelia always took pride in expressing herself, but the words of the older girls and her friends' silence made her second guess herself. She decided then that she would make a change, as it seemed to be the only way to get her friends back and to be liked.
