Chapter One
Leonardo woke with a start. He leapt out of bed...
...and face-planted on the hard, cold sewer floor.
"Yowch!" he exclaimed.
"...Mmmff..?" mumbled Mikey.
"Eh...?" said Raph, his voice muffled under his blankets. Donnie didn't say anything at all.
"Sorry," Leo said, rubbing his head. "I'm just so excited! It's one day away until our vacation to Hawaii!"
"Oh, yeah!" Mikey cried, suddenly awake. "Robin and Sashta are able to come! I'm so excited! Robin said she bought a cute new sundress and a-"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's all very interesting," said Raph, yawning. "Let's see what's for breakfast."
"Anyone volunteer to wake Donnie up?" Mikey asked. Donnie hated to be woken up when he was sleeping.
---
Splinter had made pancakes for breakfast, and Leatherhead had played around with ingredients and made a new type of fudge, which the mutants liked immensely.
"We're going to Hawaii tomorrow!" Mondo Gecko shouted. He started doing the Hula around the table.
Ray Fillet grinned. "I'll finally get to swim in the ocean! Like a real sting ray!"
"You are a real sting ray," Donnie said, munching on his pancakes.
"Is everyone packed? For the trip?" Splinter asked, wiping off the counter with a dish rag.
All the mutants nodded, except for Wingnut. She turned red. "Sorry!" she exclaimed. "But I haven't packed! Well, I mean, I'm trying to, but I can't fit my CD player in my suitcase!"
"Why do you need a CD player?" Leo questioned.
"Because I need it to listen to my music! I'm bringing all my Spice Girls CDs, but the player won't fit," Wingnut responded fretfully.
Leatherhead sighed and shook her head. "I'll help you pack, mate," she told Wingnut.
Just then, there was a knock on the sewer cover.
"I wonder who that could be?" Splinter said. He put the dish rag down, and he and Scumbug went to answer it.
A minute later, they came back with...
"ROBIN!" shouted Mikey. He flung himself at her, knocking into
the table.
"Hi Mikey," she laughed, giving him a quick kiss on the cheek. "Hey everyone!"
"Hi Robin!" the mutants said, all at the same time.
"Are you all packed?" Robin asked Mikey.
"Yes!!" he answered. "You wanna see? Come here!!"
And he pulled her off towards the Turtle's bedroom.
Leo shook his head and smiled. He turned to follow.
"I'll just put the pancakes in the fridge!" called Splinter.
---
Mikey opened his suitcase. "I'm bringing shirts, shorts, my swim trunks, my flip flops, sunblock, my phone, a pizza cookbook, a rubber chicken.."
"Um," interrupted Raph. "Why do you need a rubber chicken?"
Mikey shrugged.
"I'm basically bringing the same things," said Donnie. "Except.. replace the rubber chicken with my headphones."
"Same," Raph said. "But replace the headphones with my punching gloves."
"And replace the punching gloves with books," finished Leo.
Robin giggled. "I'm packing, well, packed, some sundresses, some cute tops, a pink bikini, which is weird because we're turtles not humans but my mom said I had to pack it, my flip flops, a radio, some sunblock, a beach ball, and a bucket and shovel for building sand castles!"
Raph shook his head. "You are so immature for your age, Robin," he said.
"Thanks!" responded Robin. "I think."
Donnie grinned.
"I'm so excited to go to Hawaii!" the enthusiastic Robin exclaimed, twirling in circles. "We can go swimming, we can eat exotic food, we can play on the beach, we can go on nature hikes, oh gosh!"
"I'm excited, too!" said Leo. "And don't forget, it was April that got us these tickets! So we should all thank her the next time we see her, right guys?"
"Alright, thank you, Mr. Science Homeroom Class Teacher," Raphael said, throwing a comic book at Leo's shoulder.
"Hey!" exclaimed Mikey. "I was reading that!"
"Wait, so," said Robin. "So, April got us these tickets to Hawaii at a chess tournament at Madison Square Garden?"
"Yup!" said Leo.
"How did she manage to get... hm, let's see... um.. 15 tickets to Hawaii all on the same day from a chess tournament!" exclaimed Robin, a tad bit confused.
"It was a big chess tournament," Leo said.
"A REALLY big chess tournament," Donnie added.
"A REALLY SERIOUSLY INCREDIBLY-"
"Ok, ok, I get it!" Robin laughed, cutting Raph off.
"How many people turned up?"
"'Bout a hundred," Leo said casually.
"A hundred," repeated Robin.
"Uh-huh, yup! I think it might have been a bit more than that, though!" said Leo.
"Over a-" Robin started. Then she exploded. "HOLY SEWER APPLES THAT'S ALOT OF PEOPLE."
"Right??" Mikey said. "That's what I thought when I first heard the news!"
"It's really nice that she's doing this for us!" grinned Raph. "I can't wait to go surfing!"
Robin plopped down on a beanbag. "So, how are we getting there, anyways?"
"We're going to be flying on a plane!" exclaimed Donnie. He spread his arms out and started running around the room.
Robin fell off the beanbag.
Donnie stopped running. "Hey, I know my imitation of a plane is good," he said, putting on a superior voice and examining his nails. "But you don't have to fall over for i-"
"No, it's not that!" Robin said, gasping.
"Oh," said Donnie.
"It's just that.. I have a fear of planes!" Robin said, sitting up.
"Oh, really?" Mikey said. "I never knew that!"
"Yeah," Robin responded. "I never choose to get on a plane if I can help it. I'm always paranoid that an engine will break and the plane will crash, and then-"
She broke off, shuddering. Mikey walked over and put his arm around her.
"Hey, that's ok," he said, his face falling. "If you don't want to go..."
"No, no, of course I do! I do!" Robin said. "I really want to go to Hawaii with you guys. But for the record, I'm going to be terrified all the way through on the plane. I also call dibs on an aisle seat, please!"
"Of course!" Leo said. "Anything that makes you comfortable."
"Seriously, bro," Raph said. "You need to stop talking like an old English teacher."
"Sorry," Leo said. He grinned sheepishly.
Suddenly, there was another knock on the sewer cover.
"Aw man!" exclaimed Robin. "I think that's Sashta! I gotta go."
"But you just got here!" Mikey cried.
Robin gave him a hug. "I know," she said. "But I'll see you tomorrow!"
"Hey! Tomorrow!" Donnie said. "That's when we leave for our vacation!"
"Oh yeah!" said Leo. "Robin, we'll come over to your alley to pick you and Sashta up. Then we'll head over to April's house. Her parents aren't going, but they trusted Splinter to take good care of her. We're going to be riding in some taxis that we reserved.
Sound good?"
Robin gave Leo a thumbs-up.
"Robin?" Sashta's voice echoed through the hallway. "I'm here to pick you up! Come on, now!"
"Coming mom!" Robin called back. She turned to the turtles. "Bye guys! See you tomorrow! I'm super excited!"
"Ditto!" Donnie said.
"Bye!" chorused Mikey, Raph, and Leo.
Robin headed out of the room.
Leo flopped down on his bed. One more day 'till Hawaii!
Chapter Two
Leonardo was soaring through the sky. He was riding a unicorn with a sparkly rainbow mane and a golden coat.
He saw April, and urged his unicorn towards her. "Hello, Princess April!" he exclaimed.
"Hello, Leonardo!" April responded. "Are you hungry?"
She gave him a chocolate chip cookie.
"I love to eat cookies!" said Leo. He shoved the cookie in his mouth. Suddenly, the sun turned into a huge cookie and the clouds were marshmallows.
"Yum!" exclaimed Leo, and he jumped onto the marshmallow-clouds. He started eating them with relish, shoving them into his-
"Uh... Leo?" interrupted a voice.
Leonardo fell off the cloud. He was falling, falling, falling, and then...
He fell out of bed.
"Dang, bro, you really have a habit of falling out of beds," said Raphael, bending over Leo.
Leonardo groaned and rubbed his sore head.
Mikey was reading a comic on his treasured beanbag chair. He looked over at Leo. "Is it just me, or were you shouting about marshmallows and cookies in your sleep?" he asked.
Leo turned red.
"And anyways," continued Raph. "We thought you were dead! You fell asleep right after lunch, and slept through the entire day up until now! And it's 8:34 right now!"
Leo groaned again. "This is a really pleasant way to wake up,
guys. Thank you so much," he said sarcastically. He stood up and walked out of the room, dragging his blankets behind him.
Raph and Mikey looked at eachother and shrugged.
---
When Leo went into the other mutant's bedroom, he was greeted even worse than Raph and Mikey.
"HAWAII!!!!" screamed Mondo Gecko in Leo's face.
"YAHOO!!" yelled Bebop. He jumped on Rocksteady's back for a piggy-back ride. They paraded around the bedroom.. until they crashed into Leatherhead's bed and fell to the floor.
"E malie," Leatherhead said to the pig and the rhino.
"What?" Leo questioned.
"It's Hawaiian for calm down," the Australian crocodile said, shrugging her shoulders.
"LEO! LEO!" screamed Wingnut suddenly. "I WAS ABLE TO FIT MY CD PLAYER INTO MY SUITCASE!!"
"AND I PACKED MY SURFBOARD IN A SEPARATE BAG!!" shouted Ray Fillet.
Leonardo covered his ears. "Do you guys not know how to properly greet someone in the morning?" he asked.
"Well, technically, it's not the morning. It's more like the late morning, 'cause you slept in," said Rocksteady.
"Oh, guess what, Leo?" Genghis Frog said, totally ignoring Leo's remark.
Leonardo sighed. "What?" he asked, un-covering his ears.
"We're leaving for Hawaii in 2 hours!" the excited mutant frog said. "At 10:30!"
"Oh my gosh, in 2 hours?!" exclaimed Leo, suddenly wide awake.
"I have to go over the stuff I packed in my suitcase! And I have to make my bed and eat breakfast!"
Leo raced out of the room and into the kitchen.
"Hello, Leo!" greeted Splinter. "Good mor-"
"Can't talk Dad, gotta eat!" yelped Leo. He flung open the fridge and smashed a bunch of strawberries into his mouth. Then he opened a container and pulled out a cheese pizza. He shoved it into his mouth, then slammed the fridge shut. Leo chewed frantically as he dashed out of the kitchen and back into the Turtles' bedroom.
Leo quickly made his bed. He had just finished straightening the blankets when..
"OW!!" Leo hollered.
"What?! What?!" yelped Donnie. He sat up quickly, banging his
head on the roof of his tent. Raph dropped his phone, and Mikey spit a mouthful of orange juice onto his comic. "Aw darn!" he groaned. "That was in mint condition!"
"I bit mah ton!" Leo grumbled, holding his mouth. "A' now ith bweedin'!"
"Well, don't just stand there, go to the bathroom!" Raphael said helpfully.
Leonardo stumbled to the bathroom. This was not shaping up to be a pleasant morning!
---
2 hours later, Leonardo had calmed his brain down. His tongue was no longer bleeding, his bed was made, and he had triple-checked that he had everything packed in his suitcase.
Splinter had gathered all the mutants at the sewer cover.
"Ok, before we go," Splinter said. "Is everyone absolutely sure that they have everything?"
"Yes!" all the mutants responded.
Scumbug chittered and chattered at the mutants.
"Er... what?" Donatello asked politely.
"She said, 'then let's go'!" Splinter interpreted.
"Oh! Ok," Mikey said. "I agree!"
Scumbug smiled, lugging her suitcase behind her.
Splinter opened the sewer cover, and the mutants took turns climbing out of it. Once they were all out, Splinter closed it, and locked it with a special key. Then, the mutants started the trek to Robin's alley, using the information she had texted Mikey on his phone.
2 minutes had passed once they got there. "Wow, she lives super
close to us!" Raph said. "But, uh... where is the alley?"
Mikey lightly punched him on the arm. "Well duh, it's a hidden alley, Mr. Smarty Pants!" he laughed.
Leo looked at the street. He couldn't really see anything that resembled an alley. Just apartments and buildings, and stores.
Then, he spotted a little opening around a corner. He almost didn't spot it! It was covered by tattered rags, banners, and cloths hanging from a camouflaged clothing wire.
"Guys! I think I see the entrance!" he said, excitedly pointing at the entrance.
"Oh yeah, I see it!" chimed in Genghis Frog.
"Man, it is really well hidden," Bebop said. Rocksteady nodded in agreement.
Splinter and Scumbug walked up to the entrance and
uncertainly looked around, trying to spot something they could knock on. Finally, Splinter settled on calling out, "Hello? Sashta? It's Splinter!"
A second later, Sashta cautiously pushed the curtains aside. "Oh, hello!" she greeted. She stood up straight. "Hello, everyone! I'm all packed, and Robin-"
"Hi everybody!" Robin greeted, running up beside Sashta. She was holding a large pink wheelie suitcase covered in strawberry cow, Nyan Cat, and Hello Kitty stickers. She was wearing a bright yellow t-shirt with a cat surfing on a koi fish. There were pink letters above it that spelled out, "GO FOR IT."
She was also wearing had a pink skirt, with white flowers!
"..Robin's right there," Sashta laughed.
"You guys ready to go?" the excited Robin questioned.
"You bet!" laughed Mikey.
Raph, Donnie, and Leo nodded.
"Alright, now, let's go pick up April, and then... and then.. and then we can get on the plane," Robin said, not so excitedly.
"Aw, don't worry!" reassured Mikey. "I'll sit next to you on the plane, and you can have an aisle seat!"
Robin took a deep breath. "Oh well," she said. "I'll never get over my fear if I don't try do tackle it. Let's do this!"
"Alright," said Splinter. "Robin, Sashta, you are ready to go?"
"Yup!" they nodded.
---
The mutants had picked April up, and rode in the taxis to the airport. Their suitcases had been scanned, and the mutants were boarding the plane to Hawaii.
"Oh wow," Robin breathed. "The plane is really nice!"
"Yeah, the tickets were for first class!" April said proudly.
"Wow!" Donnie exclaimed. "You did great in that tournament, April!"
April grinned. "Thanks," she said.
The mutants found their seats (which took up quite a lot of rows) and stored their luggage in the overhead storage units.
"I'm excited!" Wingnut said. She bounced up and down in her seat.
"Attention! The plane to Hawaii will be taking flight at this time. Please fasten your seat belts, and prepare for take off!" a voice on the intercom said.
Then, the engines got really loud. The mutants buckled their seat belts. Leo looked over at Robin and saw that she had her
tightly shut.
Then, the plane flew all the way up in the air! Leo looked out the window and saw nothing but clouds.
Robin opened her eyes. "Oh wow," she gasped.
"Um," Mikey said painfully. "Is it ok if you let go of my hand now, please? It's starting to hurt."
Robin had been squeezing Mikey's hand for the entire take off. She let go, and turned red.
"Heehee, sorry," she said.
Chapter Three
Leonardo stretched, yawning widely. He walked down the stairs of the plane, rubbing his eyes.
The plane trip had taken a while! At least 10 hours. Leo had fallen asleep halfway through, and woke up on the last 15 minutes. Donnie had gotten airsick, more than one time, and had thrown up on the 4th time. Wingnut and Leatherhead had used Wingnut's CD player to listen to Spice Girls, and Raph had been flirting with some of the human girls on the plane. Luckily, Splinter had given him the Look, and Raph stopped.
Robin and Mikey had played I Spy, Would you Rather, and watched Looney Tunes on TV.
As soon as Leo stepped off of the staircase, he felt wide awake. The warm tropical air hit him full on the face. Birds tweeted,
and he heard the lapping of waves, even though they were kind of far from the beach.
"Ok, everyone," said Splinter. "We'll take a shuttle bus to our hotel, and then get our rooms. Me, Sashta, and April's parents all pitched in to get 3 rooms right next to eachother."
"Aw, that's great! Thanks April!" Rocksteady said gratefully. April nodded.
Everyone on the plane was boarding shuttle buses. Splinter guided the mutants onto, 'Shuttle Bus #4'.
The bus started moving, and soon enough, it got to the hotel.
After they had gotten their keys, the mutants all went to their rooms.
"Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, Michelangelo, April, and Robin, you will get room one. Genghis Frog, Mondo Gecko, Bebop,
Rocksteady, Ray Fillet, Wingnut, and Leatherhead, you will get room two. And me, Sashta, and Scumbug will get room three. Our rooms have doors connecting them to eachother, so we don't even have to go all the way out of our rooms to see eachother!" Splinter explained.
"Ooh!" Robin said, clearly impressed.
Leo watched as Splinter, Sashta, and Scumbug went into their room. The other mutants did the same, and then the turtles (and April!) did too.
As soon as Robin stepped foot into the room, she dropped her suitcase. Her eyes widened. "OH. MY. GOODNESS!" she shouted.
The room was gigantic! It had 2 vanity dressers over to the side, a huge closet, and 4 king sized beds. Not to mention a mini-bar, and a bathroom!
Donnie sighed. "Oh, finally," he said weakly. "A bed. Now I can lay down."
Leo watched as Donnie stumbled over to the middle bed and fell, face-first, onto it.
Leo laughed.
"Well," Raphael said, stretching. "We should probably unpack!"
"That's going to take awhile," laughed Robin.
It sure did! It took 45 minutes for the mutants to unpack their suitcases and put all their belongings where they belonged. They added 10 extra minutes when they started arguing over who gets what space in the closet.
Finally, when everything had been unpacked, they knocked on the door to room two.
Mondo Gecko answered it. "Sup, bruhs!" he said. "What's up?"
"Hey, can you tell dad that we're hungry?" Raph said.
"Um..." said Mondo. "They already left for the cafe."
"Oh, don't worry guys," April said. "I can show you where it is. Follow me!"
Mikey's eyes widened. "Do you know if they have pizza?"
---
A minute later, the turtles were chowing down on some Hawaiian pancakes with coconut whipped cream. They had ordered tropical smoothies, and a plate of coconut cream cookies.
"Mmm.." Robin said as she ate her pancakes. "These are the best pancakes I've ever had in my life!"
"I'll say!" agreed Mikey. He was shoveling pancakes in his mouth at top speed. Leo thought he could beat the Flash in a race.
Leo looked over and saw Splinter, Scumbug, and Sashta sitting at a table, eating the food that they had ordered. Splinter waved.
Leo waved back.
"Ooh! Guys, look!" Donnie said. "You see that poster on the wall? It has a list of a bunch of activities you can sign up for!"
The turtles got up and walked over to it.
April read it out loud. "Sign up for activities that are full of fun! Swim with dolphins, watch sea turtles hatch, go on a banana boat ride, go on a nature hike, and more! You can also choose to go on a beautiful cruise on a private sailboat with your love. Sign up now!"
"Ooooh, a sailboat cruise!?!" exclaimed Mikey and Robin together. "Count us in!"
"Yeah, I kind of figured that," Raphael said under his breath.
"I want to swim with dolphins!" Leo said.
April looked at the sign up sheet below the poster. "Oh my gosh," she murmured. "Swimming with dolphins is booked out until next week! Sorry Leo."
Leo felt disappointed, but he was sure that he could find something else to do. "Oh, well, that's ok!" he said.
The turtles finished breakfast and headed up to their room. "I'm going to take a nap," said Robin, yawning. She clambered onto a bed and pulled her pink blanket over her head. She fluffed up her heart shaped pillow, pulled her teddy bear close to her chest, and fell asleep.
Mikey closed the curtains. "Ssshh!" he said to the turtles. "She's asleep!"
"Um, you think we didn't notice that, bro?" Raph whispered.
"Come on, guys," Leo urged his brothers. "Let's go down to the pool!"
"Oh, good idea, Leo!" April said. "I've been wanting to try it out.
The team quietly got their swimsuits out of the closet and left the room. As Leo left, he heard Mikey singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to Robin.
Leo smiled to himself. Michelangelo is such a caring brother, he thought. Robin is lucky to have him.
Chapter Four
The mutants had been on vacation in Hawaii for 2 days. Leo had been having so much fun, he never wanted to go back to New York again!
He had gone surfing with the other mutants, read comic books with April, and played water volleyball with Ray Fillet, Mondo Gecko, Raph, Mikey, and Donnie. They had also taken a stroll on the boardwalk, and ate at the most delicious burger place ever. A few humans had given them strange looks, but no one had glanced at them more than 3 times.
Today, Leo was sitting in his hotel room, reading a comic book, minding his own business, when..
"LEO!" shouted Mikey. He kicked the door open.
"Yikes!" exclaimed Leo, throwing the comic book in the air.
The comic landed on Donnie's head, who was taking a nap. Leo felt that Donnie was going to be very confused when he woke up!
"What?!" Leo questioned, panting a little. Mikey had scared him!
Robin leapt onto Mikey's back, then tumbled off of it and onto the rug. "We're going on a cruise today!!" she yelled, excited.
"Oh!" Leo said, taken by surprise. "Wow! That's.. that's great!"
"It's going to be this evening! So in... 2 hours!" Michelangelo grinned.
"Aaah!" Robin exclaimed. "I need to find something to wear! I'm going to try on some of my dresses. Mikey, Leo, out! Out, out!"
And she shooed them out of the room.
Donnie started snoring.
Robin looked over at him. "Hm, I think I'll have to get him out,
too."
And with that, Robin pulled a blanket over Donnie's head. She giggled.
"Ok! See you guys later!" Robin said. She slammed the door shut.
Leo looked at Mikey. "Oh my," he said.
---
That evening, the mutants accompanied Mikey and Robin to the sailboat. The boarding area was on a pretty Hawaiian shore.
Robin had chosen to wear a beautiful pink dress with light blue flower designs and a puffy bottom. She had pink sneakers on, and was wearing a red heart necklace. She had attached a fake pink braid to her mask.
Mikey was just wearing some shorts and a shirt with a whale on the front.
"Ooh! Look, Mikey, there's our sailboat!!" giggled Robin.
The sailboat was decorated with pretty lights and heart streamers. There were little speakers on it, so you could listen to music!
Leo watched as more sailboats pulled up behind the first one. Lots of couples started boarding them and putting on music. Mixed lyrics of, "Cupid," and, "Guinea Pig Bridge," and, "Don't Stop the Music," blasted out into the evening.
Sashta waved. "Bye, Robin! Stay safe out there. Have fun!!"
Splinter winked at Michelangelo.
Robin grabbed Mikey's hand. "Come on, Mikey!!" she exclaimed, pulling him to the boat.
Mikey gave a quick wave and a grin before Robin threw him onto the boat.
She straightened up and waved at the mutants. They waved back.
Leo watched as the sailboat sailed away.
Wingnut sat down in the sand. "Robin and Mikey will be back in 30 minutes," she said. "That's what the information flyer said."
Sashta clapped her hands together. "Oh, my little Robinorella," she said. "She's growing up so fast!"
Raph snickered. Donnie covered his face with his hands. Leo looked away at a palm tree. Poor Robin! Sashta had totally embarrassed her.
"Hey guys!" Leatherhead said suddenly. "How about we have a sand castle building contest until Robin and Mikey come back!"
"Ooh! Good idea!" Mondo Gecko exclaimed.
Soon, the mutants had split into groups of 3, and with Splinter,
Sashta, and Scumbug being the judges, they started in on their sand castles.
As Leo worked with Donnie and Genghis Frog on their sand castle, he noticed a flash of lightning in the distance. Leo looked up, and saw a storm in the middle of the ocean, not too far away from the shore.
"Oh my goodness, guys, look at that!" he said, leaping up and pointing.
"Bro!" Donnie exclaimed. "You almost kicked our sand castle! Watch o-"
He had noticed the storm. Donnie slowly stood up, staring at the dark clouds.
"Woah," Raph whistled softly. "That sure is a big storm."
"I hope that Robin and Mikey are ok!" Splinter said. Sashta
nodded in agreement, looking very worried.
A minute later, the storm passed away into the horizon. The mutants watched the clouds go away.
"I've never seen a storm act like that before," Bebop said. "Weird."
The mutants stared at the sky for a minute more, and then resumed building their sand castles.
Leo was just adding the moat to his, when he heard splashing. "Hey, is someone playing in the water?" he said, sitting up.
April looked around. "No, I can't tell. I don't think so," she informed Leo.
"Huh," he said. "Because it sounds like-"
His sentance was interrupted by the sounds of coughing and water splashing.
"What the heck?!" Leo said, jumping up. His foot squished the sand castle, but at that point, it really didn't matter.
"Robin?" Sashta asked in disbelief.
"Mikey?? What in the big fat world of sewer apples?" Raph sputtered.
"By the great pizza lords, what are you doing here?!" Rocksteady grunted.
Robin was laying on Mikey's back. Michelangelo made for the shore, kicking his legs and wildly flapping his arms. Eventually, he made it onto the beach. Robin slid off his back and flopped onto the sand.
The mutants ran over. "What happened?!" Sashta exclaimed.
Mikey was gasping for breath. When he caught it, he started talking.
"Everything was going great! The sun was setting, the lights were blinking, and the music was really relaxing! Robin and me were having a great time, until these huge storm clouds rolled in!''
"Oh, yeah, we saw them!" Ray Fillet said.
Mikey continued. "The waves started lashing really hard on our sailboat. Then, it started raining super hard, and lightning almost hit Robin! The boat capsized, and me and Robin ended up on the bottom of it. So I gave her a turtle-back ride, and we swam to the beach. And then, halfway there, the storm just disappeared! It was the weirdest thing!"
"And now my dress got ruined!" wailed Robin. She stood up and tried to shake the sand off of her sopping wet dress. Leo noticed that her fake braid had come undone. It lay in limp, soggy
squiggles at her shoulders.
"It sounds like you met the Tsucrama," a voice said.
Leonardo turned. Sitting on a beach chair sat a man. He had a short beard, a sunhat, and a blue and white striped shirt.
"I'm sorry," Splinter said politely. "The what, exactly?"
"The Tsucrama," the man repeated. "It's a legend here on this island."
The mutants went over to the man, who didn't even seem to notice that they weren't humans.
"So, it creates storms and ruins people's dresses that cost 500 dollars?" Robin huffed.
"Well, it does create storms, yes," the man said. "But it does much more than ruin dresses. You were lucky that that was all that happened."
"What exactly do you mean?" Sashta asked, pulling Robin close to her.
"Mo-om," Robin protested. She struggled away from the mutant cat, blushing from embarrassment.
"It's a sea monster. It creates storms, and lures children away. If a storm suddenly happens on a perfectly sunny day, then it's a sign that the Tsucrama is coming. The way how you can tell if it's going to snatch a child is if you hear it's roar. Then, it will grab a child that has gotten too close to the water, and bring them under the surface to... somewhere." the man explained.
"Wow," Robin said softly. She scooted back into Sashta's arms.
"Just a couple days ago, there was an indecent at a beach. The Tsucrama made an appearance. We thought that all of the children had gotten away safely, but.. but one of them was
left behind. They were taken by the Tsucrama. It was terrible."
Donatello shuddered.
"That sounds awful," Leo said. "I'm so sorry.. um.."
"Akamu," the man said. "My name is Akamu."
"Akamu," Leo repeated. "I'm so sorry that that happened."
"Yeah," Raph said. "That's pretty scary, although I don't get scared easily- ouch!"
Rocksteady had stepped on Raph foot and given him a Look.
"What??" Raph whispered. "I don't!"
Suddenly, Akamu leaned forward. He had a tired look in his eyes. "Please," he begged. "Please help us. The Tsucrama has taken more than 20 children, and two of them were mine. Please help us get rid of this beast. I'll be so grateful if you help us."
Leo looked at his brothers. They had a tired look in their eyes,
too, as if they were to tired to save cities anymore.
Leo turned to Akamu. "Of course we'll help!" he said. "Don't worry. We'll get the children back, and we'll defeat the Tsucrama."
"Oh, thank you," Akamu said. "You have no idea how relieved I am right now for every parent on the island!"
Splinter smiled at Akamu. "We'll do everything we can to help. But for now, I think we should get to bed."
Splinter herded the mutants up to the hotel and into their rooms.
As soon as Leo closed his room's door, he looked around, and came face to face with some very angry turtles who looked like they had a bone to pick with him.
Chapter Five
"Bro!" Raph said angrily. "We're on vacation!"
"So?" Leo said.
"Vacation," repeated Donnie, crossing his arms.
"I thought this was a time for us to relax!" April said. "I got those tickets for you so we could have fun and relax and just take a break from saving cities!"
Leonardo stood his ground. "So you guys don't care about missing kids? So you don't care about the families who's kids are gone?"
Robin sighed and rubbed her head. "Look," she told him. "It's not that I don't want to help them. I really do! It's just that.. I thought this vacation was going to be the one time where we could get away from fighting villains."
"Yeah," Mikey said. "It's not that we don't care about those people. We do! I really want to help them, but I thought we were on vacation."
Leo sighed. "Guys, listen. If you help me get rid of this sea monster, I'll let you have first pick when we're eating pizza."
Donnie shook his head. "We want more, Leo." he said. "We'll help you, but only if you let us have first pick at pizzas, let us play on the TV first, clean our rooms for us, and give us all of your desserts for 2 weeks."
"Oh, all right," huffed Leo.
"YEAH!" all the mutants cheered.
"Now if you'll excuse me," said Robin. "I'm going to go take a shower and rinse all of this sand off of me."
She turned and headed into the bathroom.
"Thanks Leo," Raph said, patting his older brother on the shoulder.
"Yeah, yeah," Leonardo said, shrugging Raph off. But he had a smile on his face, all the same.
"Now," April said. "I think we should all get a good night's sleep if we're going to be hunting for clues in the morning."
"You sound like someone from Scooby-Doo," Mikey said, laughing.
Leo flopped down onto his bed.
---
The next morning, Leo flung himself out of bed. He rushed downstairs, ordered a pineapple milkshake, drank his breakfast, and rushed back upstairs.
He kicked the door to Room 1 open.
"WAKE UP, PEOPLE!!" he shouted.
"Yaaaah!" Raph shrieked. He fell out of bed.
The crash awoke Robin and Mikey, who leapt up in bed, sending the blankets onto the floor. They grabbed eachother and screamed- loudly!
The scream awoke April, who kicked the lamp beside her bed, which landed on Donnie's head.
"OW!" he hollered.
"Leo!" April scolded, rubbing her eyes. "What on Earth? We are trying to sleep peacefully like normal human beings."
"I know, I'm sorry," Leo said. "But you promised you would help me get rid of the Tsucrama!"
"You're saying that like it's going to happen today," Raph groaned. "Leo, we are just looking for clues today, and that's it."
"Fine," said Leo. "But let's hurry!"
And he herded the tired mutants out of the hotel room.
---
After they had told Splinter where they were going, Leo, Raph, Donnie, Mikey, April, and Robin left the hotel and walked down the beach.
"Ok," April said. "Maybe we should ask the people who are on the beach about the Tsucrama."
"Excuse me," Leo said, walking towards a man. "Hi. I'm Leonardo, and those are my brothers and my friends. We're investigating the Tsucrama legend, and we were wondering if you would like to give us whatever you know about it."
The man glanced up. He didn't even seem surprised that a giant mutant turtle was talking to him.
"E kala mai i a 'u?" the man replied.
"Oh, I'm sorry," Leo said. "Do you not speak English?"
"A'ole maopopo ia 'u," the man said, smiling politely at Leo.
"Sorry," Leo said. He turned and walked away. The man resumed reading his magazine.
"He must have only spoke Hawaiian," said Robin.
"Yeah," Donnie agreed. "That's pretty cool! Hawaiian is a cool language."
They continued asking people what they knew about the Tsucrama. No luck- the next 2 people they asked only spoke Hawaiian.
Soon, they found a lady who spoke English.
"Oh," she said. "Yes, the Tsucrama. I don't have any kids, but my friend does. They were snatched by the monster, poor things."
"Does anyone know anything about where the Tsucrama might be?" asked Mikey.
The woman sighed. "'A'ole, no. No one has any exact idea about where the Tsucrama lives. Although, we have noticed 'ekahi thing about where it might be. One thing. Whenever it snatches a child, it swims towards the west."
Robin exchanged a glance with Mikey.
"Thank you for telling us," Leo said.
The woman nodded. "No'u ka hau'oli. You're welcome!" she said.
Leo walked back into the shade of the palm trees. "So," he said.
"It takes the children to the west, and then brings them somewhere underwater."
"If we're going to get the kids back, then how are we going to survive underwater?" asked April.
"Well... we'll figure something out," said Leo.
Suddenly, dark clouds covered the sky. It started to rain.
"Oh my gosh," murmured Raph. "The Tsucrama."
Suddenly, the beach erupted in screams. "Get the children! Get the children!" a parent shouted. "Lawe mai ia lakou i ka home!"
The parents grabbed their children and evacuated the beach.
"Hey!" Michelangelo shouted. "Guys, guys, I hear something!"
He started to run through a clearing of palm trees. Leo looked over and saw that there was an entrance to the ocean past the trees.
"NO! MIKEY!" he screamed. "NO! STAY AWAY FROM THE WATER!"
"MIKEY!!" shouted Robin.
Mikey disappeared through the trees.
"Mikey! Bro! Come back! COME BACK!" hollered Raph.
The rain started pounding more ferociously on Leo's head. It threw itself down from the sky and splashed on the sand. Lighting flashed, and the trees whipped back and forth.
Suddenly, a scream pierced the air and echoed through the trees.
"MIKEY!!!" Robin screamed.
Then, there was a noise that made Leo's heart stop.
A roar. A beastly roar. A roar so terrible that only a sea monster called the Tsucrama could have made it..
"Oh my god!" screamed April. "Mikey! Guys, we have to help him!!"
Just then, the rain stopped. The clouds went away. The trees stopped lashing back and forth, and the ocean became calm.
The mutants ran fiercely through the trees. Raph pushed a bush
out of the way and then the mutants broke through the clearing.
Robin gave a sharp gasp, and then started sobbing.
Mikey was nowhere in sight.
The only evidence that he was ever there at all was his ripped mask lying on the ground.
Chapter Six
Robin spent most of the time in the little clearing sobbing onto Donnie's shoulder. Donnie was her best friend after Mikey.
Leo sat down onto the sand in disbelief. His brain was still processing what had happened.
Donnie uncertainly patted Robin on the head, as if he didn't know how to comfort a crying girl.
"Um.. It's ok," he said awkwardly.
"N-no it's n-n-not!!" Robin wailed. "Mikey is g-g-gone!!"
She continued her progress of turning Donnie's shoulder into a lake.
"Ooooh," Raph said, kicking sand into the air. "That Tsucrama is going to get it! When I'm through with him..."
"Ok, ok, woah, Raph, calm down," April said.
"The point is, we have to get Mikey back! There's no way we're just going to sit here and do nothing about it!"
Robin tried to stop crying, taking deep breaths and staring at the sky, but the tears just started back up every time. "It's already probably too late!" she sobbed. "We can't breath underwater, so Mikey probably d-d-drowned!"
Robin put her head back on Donnie's shoulder, which was soaking wet.
Leo looked at the water. He thought he could see a little dip in the water, as if someone could jump into it and get pulled to a certain location.
"Well," April said slowly. "I think we should go get Splinter and Sashta and tell them what happened. Then we should try and see if we can go get him back."
The mutants were silent.
April blushed. "Ok, ok, I know that it sounds stupid," she said. "But we should at least do something."
"Guys," Leo said suddenly. "I was looking at the water where Mikey was.. was taken... and I saw this weird thing."
"What?" Raph questioned. "What did you see?"
"There was this thing in the water. It looked like a sinkhole or a whirlpool-thing or something. It was big enough to jump into, and it looked hollow."
Robin's eyes widened. "So you think Mikey might have been pulled down the hole-thing?!" she hiccuped.
"It's possible," he said.
"Then we should go down it right now!" Robin exclaimed.
The mutants stared at her.
"After we tell Splinter and Sashta, and get our weapons," she finished, looking sheepish.
---
They had told Splinter and Sashta what had happened. Splinter was shocked, and Sashta was very worried.
"Poor Mikey!" Sashta exclaimed.
"But the good news is, we're going to get him back!" Donnie said. "Leo saw this thing in the water, and we are going to jump down into it."
"Totally safe, and not at all dangerous," reassured Raph.
"Please try your best to get Mikey back," sighed Splinter. "I know you defeated a super-mutant back in New York, but please be careful!"
"We will," Robin said. "And we will get Mikey back."
The turtles got their weapons, and April borrowed Sashta's fan to use as a weapon.
"Wait," Leo said. "What about the other mutants? Shouldn't they help too?"
"Well, I'd like them to come," Raphael said. "But, um, they would just slow us down. Plus, I want to give them a vacation. They deserve it!
Leonardo sighed. "Oh, all right. You are right about them deserving a vacation."
"Ok," Robin said, pulling her daggers out of her belt. "Let's go get Mikey back.
Chapter Seven
The team stood around the weird thing in the water. It was different from when Leo first saw it. It had turned an aquamarine blue, and was slowly swirling around as if to say, 'Yes, come and jump into me!'
"Alright," said April. "Is anyone here scared?"
"Terrified," replied Robin. "You?"
April laughed. "Well, here goes nothing," she said. And with that, April leapt into the sinkhole.
"Cowabunga!" exclaimed Raph. He jumped too, followed by Robin, Donnie, and then Leo.
Leo screamed. He was hurtling down a tube made of water. Blue light flashed from the sides, and he felt like he was going a million miles an hour.
He could hear Robin and Donnie screaming, too. Raph was making muffled sounds, like he was about to scream but didn't want to.
And then, the tube made a dip. Leo was swept to the side, and then he was thrown out onto a pile of slimy sand. He landed on top of Donnie, who had landed on top of Raph, who had landed on top of Robin, who had landed on top of April.
"Ow!" hollered April. "I never knew turtles could be so heavy!"
"Sorry! I would get off of you, if there wasn't a boulder on top of me!" Robin grunted, giving the side-eye to Raph.
Raphael pushed Donnie off of him and stood up. Leo fell over.
"Remind me never to do that again," April gasped, pushing her hair out of her face and brushing sand off of her jeans.
"Oh my gosh," breathed Robin. "Look at where we are at, guys."
Leo looked up and gasped.
They were inside a huge valley-like thing, except instead of mountains it was water. The water poured down like waterfalls, creating tall, huge walls. Much to Leonardo's surprise, the water made an arch, and created a ceiling too.
"This is magic," muttered Raph. "Legit magic,"
The water that was making up the ceiling didn't fall down on them. Leo looked in front of him, and saw a huge den-castle-lair-thing.
"I think that the Tsucrama is in there," Donnie said, pointing.
"Well, let's go! I can't wait another second to rescue Mikey!" Robin fumed. Her daggers lit on fire, and she started to run towards the lair.
The team followed her lead.
"I can't believe we're actually doing this!" Raph exclaimed.
Leo sighed.
---
"HI-YA!" Robin yelled as she kicked the wooden door open.
"You would think a magical sea monster that steals people under the water and has a secret water lair would have a better door than that," Raph whispered to April.
April laughed.
Robin dashed into the lair. "COME OUT AND FIGHT ME, TSUCRAMA!" she screamed.
A low grumble echoed throughout the lair. Leo heard something huge and slimy slithering their way. He tightened his grip on his katana.
The air smelled weird, like someone had taken a jar of salt and
a hundred pounds of roast beef and blended it together with seaweed. Suddenly, a deafening roar sounded, and the Tsucrama appeared from behind a corner.
It was massive! It had huge frilly frills on its back, and a gigantic tail with spikes on the tip. It had fangs so huge they wouldn't fit in its mouth. The Tsucrama's snout was covered in spikes, and it had glowing blue eyes. Its scales were seaweed green, and instead of flippers, it had legs and claws, covered in something green and frilly, like a fish fin.
The sea monster opened its mouth wide and roared again. Then it swept towards Robin. Its tail was crashing into the sides of the lair, causing bits of rocks to tumble down.
"I really didn't think this plan through!" squeaked Robin. She started to run, avoiding the Tsucrama's dangerous tail and
