Ella Grace was a princess, or so she thought. She played dress up, put on make-up, wore a tiara, and of course wore pink every chance she got. Except, Ella had a secret..

Ella Grace thought that if anyone found out about her secret she would get made fun of. 

Ella decided to tell her best friend Mae about her secret one day.

Mae prepared herself for Ella's big secret. When Ella whispered in Mae's ear, she gasped!

"YOU SECRETLY LOVE BASKETBALL??" Mae shouted.

Ella Grace shushed Mae frantically. Ella made Mae promise not to tell anyone.

Mae thought that it was so cool that Ella loved basketball! She told Ella that she should play basketball with the boys at recess.

"That is the worst idea I have ever heard," Ella said. She explained to Mae that girls couldn't play basketball.

Mae had a sleepover with Ella Grace that night. Ella showed Mae her basketball shoe collection, her basketball cards, her basketball, and her cool basketball posters. 

After seeing how much Ella loved basketball, Mae convinced Ella to play basketball with the boys at recess the next week. 

The next week at school, recess came around and Ella could feel her heart beating out of her chest. Mae reassured her and told her everything would be okay. That gave Ella the confidence she needed.

Ella walked up to Josh to ask if she could play basketball with him and his friends. Josh scoffed at her and said, "girls cannot play basketball."

Instead of getting upset, Ella pulled her hair into a ponytail and said, "Do you want to bet?"

Josh replied, "You bet I do."
