There once was a girl named Sarah who loved computers.

However, Sarah hated going to school because of the new facial recognition test.

Why do I never pass the facial scan on the first try but my friends do?
This is just for safety purposes, can you scan again?

Sarah decided to do some research online about facial recognition software. Reading online, she found that facial recognition software was more likely to misread and misidentify faces with darker skin like hers.

This isn't right!

Sarah talked with her favorite teacher about what to do.
You're absolutely correct Sarah. How about I help you write an email to the school principal?
I don't think it's fair that we are forced to do facial scans upon entering school if they are more likely to misidentify some people! What can I do to stop this?
With the help of her teacher, Sarah was able to research that facial recognition technology was more likely to fail on people of color because most of the images it was trained on were of lighter skinned people.

In addition to writing an email to the principal expressing her concern about the use of facial recognition technology in school, Sarah's friends helped her share the information online and send emails of their own.

Wow, everyone online is talking about this!
Look! The principal just made a statement saying they will no longer be using facial recognition for identification!
With our online pressure and action, hopefully something can change!

Sarah no longer had to be worried about going to school.
This is awesome!

Sarah even got recognized in the news for her hard work!
Wow Sarah, The Clock wrote an article about you!
You deserve to be recognized for fighting for yourself!
