   The ancient Egyptians built the 

pyramids as tombs for their 

Pharaohs and queens.This is where 

the Pharaohs were buried.

   In ancient Egypt, king Khufu 

decided to start planing his " house 

of eternity" The large pyramids 

outlines were made in the deserts 

sand. 

Large blocks of stone were carried 

by groups of men (slaves) . After 

the first level of bricks were made, 

they needed to build ramps to 

continue the next levels. for more 

than 20 years ,hundreds of men 

worked on this pyramid for their 

king.

 Finally it was finished. Topped 

with a golden stone shinning at 

the peak of the pyramid.As 

great as this pyramid was ,they 

built more and more until it 

became one of many in Egypt.

This pyramid was used for king 

Khufu and his wives resting 

place. It is the oldest and 

biggest out of the three 

pyramids. it is 146 meters 481 

feet. It was the tallest man 

made structue for over 3,800 

years.
