Chapter 1: One More Day
It was a cold fall day, the day before the hockey season began. The river was thick enough to skate on so Danny and Bingo were walking around town first going to get Marcel. knock knock! Marcel’s mom answered the door, “Hi Danny! Hi Bingo!” she said with a smile on her face. “Hello! Is Marcel here?” Danny asked. “Actually he is still sleeping! I’ll go wake him up though,” Marcel’s mom said. “You can come back in 15 minutes and he’ll be ready.” “Ok, bye!” Danny walked sadly towards Petou’s house knowing Anita was on vacation and wasn’t coming back until 3:00 and it was only 10:30. Petou’s house was only one block away. His legs started to sore from carrying all his hockey stuff. He finally reached Petou’s house. knock knock! “Hello!” yelled Danny. He was starting to wonder if anyone was even there. “Hello,” said Petou. “Oh hey Petou,” said Danny. “Hi. What are you doing here?” asked Petou, while petting Bingo. “Just wondering if you want to go skate on the river with me,” Danny answered. “Okay, but where’s Marcel and Anita?” Petou asked. “Anita’s on vacation and Marcel’s getting ready.” said Danny.

Now it was time to go get Marcel. knock knock! This time Marcel answered the door. “Hey guys,” Marcel said. “Do you want to go skating on the river?” Petou and Danny just looked at each other, “That’s just what we were going to ask!” they said at the same time. “That’s perfect then!’’ said Marcel. They started walking to the river which was really close to Marcel’s house, which was close to Petou’s house. When they got there they started sweeping and scraping until 11:00.
When Danny got home his mom had bacon, pancakes and a hot chocolate ready. “Mmmm. My favourite!” said Danny. “How was skating?” asked his mother. “Good,” Danny answered. Danny finished his lunch but it was only 1:00 so he played fetch with Bingo for fifteen minutes. When it was time to go Danny got the rubber ball they always used and left to go to Marcel’s house. knock knock! “Hello,” said Marcel, “I’m ready to go!” “Ok then let’s go!” said Danny. “Just wait I need to get my stuff!” Marcel said. “Ughh, you said you were ready,’’ groaned Danny. After Marcel got his stuff ready they walked to Petou’s house and got Petou. After they got Petou they went to the river. “Same thing as last time!” yelled Petou.

They played until 3:00 o’clock and then they were getting tired. Danny had an idea, “Let’s go to Petou’s house to rest and when we are done we can pick up Anita,” he said. They all agreed on the plan. “What are all you doing here?” asked Petou’s dad. “We’re just resting,” answered Danny, “Yeah, and after that we’re going to get Anita,” said Petou, “Okay,” said Petou’s dad. Once they were done resting they started walking to Anita’s house. “What are the teams going to be?” asked Petou. “Probably Anita and I take,” said Marcel, “They hit posts,” said Petou. “Okay,” replied Danny. Finally they got to Anita’s house. knock knock! “Hello. I know what you’re going to ask,” said Anita. “What are we going to ask then?” replied Petou. “If I want to go skating on the river, and yeah sure I’ll go,” answered Anita. They just stared at her, shocked. “Why are you all staring at me like that? Okay we’re wasting our time let’s go,” So they started walking to the river, which was right next to Anita’s house. “I’ll drop it!’’ yelled Anita. Petou had a big size disadvantage for the faceoff, so Marcel easily won the faceoff. Marcel skated down the ice trying to get an early goal, but Danny easily stopped the shot. Dannny stood up and passed it
to Petou. Petou skated up and scored top corner.“YEAHHHH!!!!!!!” Petou and Danny yelled. “Nice assist!” said Petou. “Thanks!” replied Danny. They played until 5:00. “Bye everybody!!” yelled Danny “Bye!!!” everybody replied. Danny walked into his house. “Hi Mom,” Danny greeted. “Hi Danny,” said his mom,“How was skating?” Danny thought of what the score was. “It was good,” he said “We tied 13-13.” “Well that’s good!” exclaimed his mom. They talked about skating and how their days were. After that they had supper and then went to sleep.
Chapter 2: The First Game
Danny woke up at 8:00 o’clock and had his usual breakfast, Cheerios. After breakfast he watched some hockey highlights. He watched TV until 10:00 o’clock. Once he was done watching TV he got dressed and then asked his Dad if he could drive him to the river and he said sure. Once he got there he set up some pucks in a line. He got a puck and started

walking through them. When he got to the end of the line he shot the puck he was using. Ting!! Bardown!!! He went around the net and grabbed the first puck and walked around the pucks again. He did this until there was one puck left. For the last puck he took a slapshot. Ting!! It hit the post this time! He practiced player drills in case he got surgery and put his foot back in place. If that happened he could wear skates and he would not have to be goalie. Once he was done he just stickhandled and shot pucks. When he got cold he started walking home. When he got home, he ate lunch and his dad drove him to the rink. He was playing against his cousin, Lucas. He got dressed and was the first one on the ice because he was the goalie and he led the team out. It was always funny because he had to waddle on the ice like a penguin so he wouldn’t fall because he had moccasins on, not skates. His teammates took shots on him for warm ups. Finally, the game began. Danny’s cousin Lucas was their first-line centerman. Petou was our first-line centerman. Tweet!! The ref blew the whistle and dropped the puck.

Petou was small, but was good at faceoffs. Petou won the draw and got it back to Marcel. Marcel passed it back to Petou, who was open. Petou split the defenders and got an early goal. “Yes!” Danny said to himself. “WHOOOO!!” yelled Petou and his teammates. Petou (followed by his linemates) skated by the bench and gave everyone on the bench high-fives. The score ended up to be a 3-2 victory for the Wolves. Lucas scored both of the Sharks’ goals. “Hey good game, Lucas,” said Danny, “Yeah right,” muttered Lucas. Danny wondered if Lucas thought he was being sarcastic. “He must not be having a good day today,” Danny thought. Danny walked home from the rink like he always did because it was really close to his house.
When Danny got home he took his helmet and his gloves out of his hockey bag and put them in his skating bag. “I'm going skating at the river!” yelled Danny, “Okay!” said his mom. Danny grabbed his skating bag and was going to walk to Marcel’s house but then he met Petou on the way there. “Oh hey Petou,’’ said Danny, “Hi Danny!” said Petou,
