
Andrew Jackson was the 7th president. He was known as the first "common man" president and was a war hero in 1812.










Andrew Jackson's parents immigrated to America from Ireland before he was born.











Andrew's father died before he was born, so his mother raised him and his two brothers. She was also a legal guardian to eight other children.



Andrew never went to school, but he was smart and learned to read when he was young.


In 1974, Andrew married his wife Rachel.





A few weeks before Andrew's inauguration, Rachel died. He then asked Rachel's niece, Emily Donelson, to be his First Lady.



When Andrew Jackson was president, he signed the Indian Removal Act. This act allowed the United States government to violently force the Native American population to move west.
